VITA game forum?

Archive: 56 posts

Why does LBPVITA not have a section on this forum?
All the other LBP games got a forum before they were released so why not this game?
For those who dont know what this is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAcK3FEatY0

Simply because it isnt out yet.

LBP forum started before it was out, PSP forum started before it was out, LBP2 forum started before it was out, why not this one?

I think it's probably because there isn't really that much information on the game yet, but I guess this would probably be a good idea to have soon for speculation, ideas, and things of the such.

This is probably why.
We just don't know much about the game at all, and when this forum was started when we'd only just had the LBP announcement, the forums were flooded (well, I say flooded.. There were only a few users back then.. ) with threads with ideas, people asking questions ("will there be weather?" etc.)

I'm guessing the admins don't want to go through that again...

Plasmavore pretty much hit the pin on the foot. Although talking about level ideas and such would be fun, that will probably have the mods running around the forum like crazy. And I expect the LBP1 and/or PSP forum to be terminated in order to implement the Vita forum.2011-06-22 20:45:00

Currently there are discussions about the Vita game going on in:
General Gaming,
Site Feedback,
[LBP2] Everything else,
[PSP] Everything else,
News & Media
General Media.

I have to run around like crazy to keep track... Call me biassed, but I think a Vita forum just makes sense... It's gonna happen sooner or later... The later it gets left then the more disparate the small amount of info about LBP Vita becomes and so the more likely people are to ask duplicate questions about stuff, making more work for the mods

At this point, all we know about LBP Vita is who's developing it and what the gameplay could look like (those levels at E3 weren't story levels - in fact, the studio developing the game is still hiring level designers (http://tarsier.se/?p=474)). There's no definitive title ("LittleBigPlanet" is its working title, nothing more) and there's no release window, let alone a release date.

As a result of the stark lack of information, there's barely anything to speculate about. Yes, we've got Vita-related discussions in many areas, but they're not flooding the forums. We're dealing with them just fine.

Look, if we were a LittleBigPlanet Vita-dedicated fansite, as soon as the announcement went live we would have put up LBP Vita forums. However, we're a big site with a broad focus. Adding another forum category is a big deal - there needs to be a certain amount of information floating about before we can justify it. With the current lack of info, speculation would be reiterative at best. That kind of topic redundancy tends to encourage spam and other pointlessness, and that's the last thing we want to do right now.

LBP Vita forums will come, probably soon. Just not right now. When there's more to talk about, we'll provide a place to talk about it.

As a temporary solution I suggest to rename the PSP section as "LittleBigPlanet portable" and move the Vita stuff in that.2011-06-23 10:49:00

I agree. I was going to say that there isn't really enough that has been revealed about the game to talk about yet.

This is simple:
1) Just wait what name it have when name is released
2)Put Offical name to short version like : LBPV, LBP Vita(When the name is released!)
3) V?la! The new discussion section is ready!

Yeah... we don't need a zone on the forum for Vita yet...
there's almost nothing to talk about yet... we got like only about 3 real videos to look at
not counting the videos that talk about the same things. and with almost no real
info about the game yet... till then most topics would just be about rumors and guess work mostly .
I say we wait until we have a lot more info about the game. *mew

i say new forum topic! i say rename! i say we should delete psp forum and lbp 1! look, the mods will do what they believe is best, they are 90 % right, although i like the renaming, think about bandwith peoples! with all the spec in one place it may be more organised but for what! a bunch of speculation! look its not bad to dream but until theres something to dream about... its uneeded. secondly, deleting psp and lbp1 is a horrid idea, the point of this fansite is to enhance the experience of ALL lbp players regardless of what game, the lbp community is big... VERY big, too big too fit in one game! who are we too say just because we upgraded to the ammazing lbp 2 that our levels are more important then somone who just got lbp 1 for free and decided to make a good level on it! look we all have our oppinions, but be realistic now... give it AT LEAST till we have more proof of the game, when will we have enough? trust me, you will know, if i remember correctly, lbp2 had this speculation phase as well. and if you remember... it started slow then... BOOM bunch of vids and a worrking game existed... think, we have plenty of time, its not going anywhere, and if you REALLY want to talk about it, make a thread in general disscussian. i hope this helps, cause it took a while to type!2011-07-19 09:11:00

You remember incorrectly. There was 1 anouncement video, then within a day LBPC had an entire section of the site dedicated to LBP2 and it was far from slow - there were around a gazillion posts within those first few days....

Of course, the hype for LBP Vita is about a 1000th of what there was for LBP2 (which is understandable, there is less "new" stuff), but there was nothing more than speculation at that point either. Honestly I still think a "suggestions and speculations" section for Vita is really a a great thing... Sure it will be relatively quiet in there, but seeing as the game is in development, a "speculations and suggestions" section, and a "ideas and projects" section, could be incredibly productive. Speculation is a good thing - it gives devs a chance to see what people are thinking about the game, what people are hoping it will be, and what people want to do with it. Surely that opportunity in itself, the opportunity to help shape the future of LBP, is reason enough to add in such a section?

Edit: I don't want this to seem rude, and I don't presume to tell CC how to run his site, just presenting what I think is a quite sensible reason for supporting the OP's suggestion

LBP Vita is very much picking up steam these days, and it seems many of the PSP faithful are taking part. For now Vita stuff seems to be doing fine in the 'everyting else for LBP PSP' section, but it won't be long at all before it will need its own home.2012-01-28 04:25:00

I don't personally think it's a good idea to open up new forums just yet. I still feel there's a distinct lack of info about LBP Vita, especially when you consider the absence of a release date. However, it seems there's enough interest in it that, even if it's fairly inactive, it would still help assure members we're invested in it. So we might actually be better off having it rather than not.

There's a new member in the process of joining the site staff - let me train them first, get them prepared, then I'll put up a set of Vita forums. That way we'll have an extra person to help guide the growth of the new forum. Sound good?

I'll reiterate from 9 months ago:

I think it's probably because there isn't really that much information on the game yet, but I guess this would probably be a good idea to have soon for speculation, ideas, and things of the such.

And there's obviously a lot more information on the game now, (I think anyway.) and CC SHOULD still be onboard with the idea. I say that we're going to have an LBPV section at some point anyway, and we need a good place where people can voice their opinions, drum up speculation, and have an organized place for news. It doesn't have to be a big section yet, but it would sure be helpful to have.

Well, if we're going to go into specifics.

LBP Vita
Release Date: Expected to be sometime in June [1] [2]
Months to go: 2

LBP PSP
Release Date: November 17 [NA] [3] (NA was released first, so we'll use this as a reference)
Months to go when LBP PSP Forums were made: 1 [4]

When the PSP forums were made, LBP PSP's release date was announced. Because of this, CC made the forums to occupy us for the month before release since much speculation was being made on the site. Of course, you will see some threads dating a bit earlier to September; this was because a beta was released for LBP PSP, so discussions were inevitable.

Now, look at LBP Vita: no beta, no recent news, and no confirmed release date. We still have a good two months to go and we have nothing to base our speculation on other than the things already mention in this thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=67819-LittleBigPlanet-Vita-The-New-Tools-Features-Tweaks-and-Even-More-Goodies-List!). [5] While I know you're anxious for a new forum to post in, you're rushing into this decision without considering the outcome of it. Do you honestly believe the forum will be as active now than it would be one month from now? If anything, we'll see maybe one or two threads that are actually good, while the rest of the threads will most likely be of comments and opinions that would have been better off posted in existing threads (i.e. What's Your Excitement Level for LBP for Vita? (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=66803-What-s-Your-Excitement-Level-for-LBP-for-Vita) [6]).

And on that note, I would like to add that this also encourages circle-jerking. You can't deny the massive amounts of circle-jerking the pre-PSP section had before it got "publicized". PS3 owners and PSP owner's hardly talked to one another and the PSP community was quick to shun any newcomers they didn't like off the bat. You know this is true; hell, I participated in this activity as well, and I find it quite embarrassing to even think about it. IMO, the best CC could do is to make the forums one month before the game is released, that way all discussions would be more up-to-date.

That and LBP2 had betas, leaked info, and the "It's a sequel!" atmosphere at the time. LBP Vita lacks all that and hardly anybody cares for another LBP game because of how many are out now.

I agree with night angel. ( more excited on lbp vita than lbp2 part. )

I think that no one leaked or really gaves more info is cause it's a lbp2 portable with just a new story and tools. they already showed the new controls for the tools.that's already enough you should know about the game.

if lbp2 was never created then mm would talk a lot more about the game for the vita.

But...If it was that early...Why have a beta?

Yeah there's a lot of "June 29th" dates going around. I think it's just a rough estimate based on that fact that the one game that vita advertised heavily was LBP.. yet it's still not out nor has a release date. Typical LittleBigPlanet being the most frustrating game when it comes to release dates.

Syroc can you let us know? Are we looking at a Fall release for this game? I gotta know if I should save up money now or what. I wanna be able to sit at work and create levels this summer (i wouldn't advise anyone else do this unless the job is as easy )
