Archive: 6 posts

Hello fellow Spider-Man fans. Be sure to try out my new Spider-Man sackbot which will star in my new level series, The Amazing-Spider-Man. It has many features such as punches, spider speed, web attacks, rolls, flips, dives, wall crawling, web slingling and Many more! I also have developed some costumes of other characters and villians who will take part in this project as well as music based off of the original 1967 spider-man cartoon. For more info on the project, chec out the forum post here:

This was cool, and as far as demo levels go, quite complete and polished. You have a pretty sensible control scheme, and the different projectile choices/functions were a nice touch that should allow for some pretty interesting gameplay elements. Should make for a fun level.

That said, your bot is LBP good...not action game good; and it's not your fault. The jumping defies gravity, the rolls are awkward looking, and the wall climbing just un-natural...but this about as good as a spider-man bot is going to get...so congrats on pushing the limits on LBP.

The web swinging was easy to do and did worked well...but the visuals/sound from the winch was pretty jarring...would be great if you could come up with a way to do this without a visible winch.

I haven't played with bots much myself, but I was curious about how you pulled off a couple things. I really liked how he moved his arms to shoot webbing...how'd you do that? Also, how do you detect which direction the bot is facing?

Tried it, had lot of issues. I jumped, landed in the had a didn't respawn. Had to restart. The wall climbing was neat, but I'd often find myself floating in mid air, away from the wall, which kind of ruined the effect. Your speech bubbles need a smaller radius. Sometimes, I'd activate 3 and not be able to read the ones with directions. A lot of the hazards didnt require me to defeat them, I simply ran past them.

Overall, good job on the Sackbot. It shows you put in a lot of time. Just need to fine tune it a little bit and your level design, and you could have something really special.

@CYMBOL and fullofwin

Thanks for the detailed feedback guys. I looked at it and noticed a few extra issues as well. I'll check those issues out and will try to fix them as well as add some new stuff by the next update.

P.S. @ fullofwin

I would be glad to tell you how I developed certain techniques. In the meantime, check out Alic44's sackbot tutorials. That's what gave me the bases for my spider-man fighting logick
