What to play after story mode?

Archive: 11 posts

Obviously I'm aware there's a gazillion user levels but I found with LBP 1 that after finishing story mode I started downloading a few user levels but got fed up quickly as there was no continuity. It was simply a case of 'oh, that was a great level, I want more of that'....but there wasn't anymore. Just another gazillion unrelated levels.
I'm not into creating levels so I'm wondering if LBP2 is for me? I heard that you could link levels to create some sort of 'user story mode' but couldn't find anything regarding that on the web.

Oh yikes... I would try the Spotlight search engine (http://spotlight.lbpcentral.com/). There's 738 amazing levels in LBP1 waiting for you to play, for starters.

That should keep you busy.

And yes, you should buy LBP2 as well for the creation tools, materials, objects, sounds, logic and gameplay elements alone. It'll blow your mind.

^ Problem is he wants Level series and not just random levels that have nothing to do with the last.

And sorry guy, Your not gonna find many level series longer then 5 levels at best.
problem is Level series are crazy hard to make and it takes rare very dedicated creators to make them.
and because we make levels for free, many find it's just not worth the trouble to make long Level series...
Sad I know.

Also I have plans on making one but I have to get my story written for my Level series first
and until then it's gonna be a long wait. So yes your almost out of luck far as long Level series go.

But if anyone else knows of any, Go ahead and tell the man for me~ *mew

Ah, I didn't quite gather that. There's level series to be found in the spotlight engine... I suppose you could search for 'part 1' or something like that to see those levels that are part of a series. And of course, there's always LBPC:The Game!

Level series are uncommon simply because they require a lot of work, but they're not completely absent from the game (even LBP1.) Most are two or three levels long. You're not going to find many level series lasting longer than that, simply because of the time sink it would require for one person to achieve. Collaborations occur where several creators team up to create something epic, but that's even rarer than a smaller level series by a single creator.

I'd recommend the following level series (just pulled these from my hearted levels, there are certainly more):

The Descent (http://lbp.me/v/pfz73k) and The Descent 2 (http://lbp.me/v/p6jp3b) by javi_haguse (http://lbp.me/u/javi_haguse)
The Bunker (http://lbp.me/v/pf0mtr) and The Bunker 2 (http://lbp.me/v/rtczec) by poms (http://lbp.me/u/poms)
The Elemental and Legend of Zelda series by shawneboi (http://lbp.me/u/Shawneboi) (http://lbp.me/u/Shawneboi/levels)
Dragons of Myth series by Morgana25 (http://lbp.me/u/Morgana25)(http://lbp.me/search?q=dragons+of+myth)

Hope that helps!

Also, LBP2 does offer level links which allows for longer series, but this will include cut-scene levels with dialogue, etc... so what constitutes a "series" is certainly debatable at that point. However, there's lots of series currently in the works, some good, some bad. I would say LBP2 is a must-buy regardless of this fact. Hansel and Gretelbot is a good example of an epic level series in LBP2.

Also, GruntosUK (http://lbp.me/u/GruntosUK/levels) has a couple of level series that he made in LBP1. I'd like to think they age well.2011-06-21 16:10:00

Thanks a lot guys.
I don't know if I made it clear but I don't actually have LBP 2 but thanks for all the links anyway.
LBP: the game looks great. That's exactly what I had in mind. Not even sure how or where I can download it and whether it's for LBP1 or LBP2?

It's a shame there's not some more involved DLC with 5+ levels. I wouldn't mind paying a bit for that.

All the links and recommendations (save the paragraph at the end) are for LBP1 levels. You can tell by the little icon on the level links when you click them. 2011-06-21 17:07:00

Wait, why didn't you post in Everything Else LPB1 if you don't have LBP2?2011-06-22 22:41:00

I wanted to know about LBP 2 so why should I post in the LBP 1 forum? I mean, for all I know, no one in that forum might even have LBP 2 - or at least a lot less than here.2011-06-22 23:40:00

Hehe, I was a hardcore fan of LBP1, but when I bought LBP2, I felt like LBP1 didn't exist anymore. lol

LBP2 is a must buy. I'm still impressed at the large variety of possibilities in the game.
