Modifying Cars

Archive: 5 posts

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to hook up the switch from a car to an additional speaker or rocket booster or whatever without using one of the existing connections? I tried detaching the door to move it so I could get to the switch but the entire car fell apart Thanks in advance!2008-12-11 17:10:00

Nope lol

Unless you just make a new switch, like as soon as the car starts moving, it passes a mag key switch which makes the sound?

I suppose that's one way to do it, as long as you can set the mag switch to a one shot I'll give it a shot2008-12-11 17:29:00

I've found the one shot setting only really works with emitters. For sound effects, on/off tends to be fine unless it's a sustained sound. As for rockets, well, on/off will work, but it will switch off when the key is out of range, or in range if it's inverted.

What were you hoping to modify with this car?

One shot will activate whatever its connected to only once for each time the switch itself is activated. In order to activate it again the switch must deactivate and then reactivate, ie a prox switch that spawns a block when players enter it and only spawns another if the player leaves the area and then re-enters.
In regards to your contraption, build prototypes first, they don't have to be pretty they just have to work long enough for you to figure out how its all going to connect together. Then after your sure you know how all the elements of your items design will interact build the final object. This should help you avoid having to completely rebuild every time you need to tweak something.
