Sackbot Questions

1.Is there a way to make a sackbot turn invisible when you are controlling it? This might sound confusing, so here's an example: Enemies are running toward you, and the only way to not alert them would be to turn invisible for a short amount of time. You would tap L1 to turn invisible, and tap L1 to turn visible again. 2.Is there a way to make a sackbot swim? 3.Is there a way to make a gun for a sackbot so it can use that turns using the right stick and emits objects? Thank you! | 2011-06-21 01:04:00 Author: Unknown User |
1) You'd need to make the logic so that the enemies are looking for a tag. When you press L1, you turn that tag off, so they ignore you. You could also use a destroyer with 'disappear' or 'fade', and then remit with L1 again. 2) No, but there are workarounds that you may want to try (forum search them, I forget how they were done exactly). One involved making your own water by using materials and animations with the sackbots arms. The other involved contantly emitting a sackbot (looks bad though) 3) Just get a piece of hologram to follow the sackbot, and use a joystick rotator on it. attach an emitter in the right direction, and you should be good. To add aiming effects with the sackbot's arms, you'd need to just use a DCS and hook up the arm movements. | 2011-06-21 01:32:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
Thank you! I will start on those three tomorrow, but I have two questions: 1.What is DCS? 2.What is the best way to make snow? | 2011-06-21 04:47:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thank you! I will start on those three tomorrow, but I have two questions: 1.What is DCS? 2.What is the best way to make snow? A DCS is a direct control seat. It's what the controlinator used to be called. I would make a few snowflakes out of holo, then use a system of random emitters to drop them from the sky. Put some logic on the snowflakes themselves to to make them sway back and forth, but keep it a little random. I'm actually working on snow for a level I'm putting together. | 2011-06-21 05:19:00 Author: shane_danger Posts: 283 |
.What is the best way to make snow? There is a nice decoration that may add to a snowflake look: the cotton ball. Stick it to a piece of 0% brightness holo, and have emitters emit that object. You can make it a whole lot more complex if you are able to but this is the basic idea. | 2011-06-21 07:20:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
Use a destroyer to go invisible and switch you movement controls to a dcs on holo, use an emitter on this to spawn when you want to become visible again, which in turn switches your movement controls back to the sackbot. | 2011-06-21 08:06:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
Use a destroyer to go invisible and switch you movement controls to a dcs on holo, use an emitter on this to spawn when you want to become visible again, which in turn switches your movement controls back to the sackbot. Gameplay! Will somebody please think of the gameplay! How is controlling something you cannot see at all any different from those all-too-familiar totally dark levels you see so much out there? No, what you need is a sackbot that you can see, but your enemies can't. SSTAGG1's suggestion is a good base to work on. I would maybe replace the sackbot by a differently styled bot to indicate its invisible state; there is no translucent sackbot skin (maybe a simple hack? I'll look into something tonight, if I have a chance), but a few odd-looking ones, like animating lines or glowing skin. Regardless, always consider the gameplay value first and from there follow up with looks. | 2011-06-21 11:07:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll probably try all of the ways to make snow and see which one looks best. My idea for making the Sackbot go invisible was to make him visible to you, and invisible to the enemies. I'll look into which skins look like he looks most invisible and pick that one. I was hoping you press L1 and the original Sackbot fades away( destroyer switch ), and immediately the new Sackbot with the invisible skin appears. When you press L1 again, the process happens again, except in reverse. | 2011-06-21 15:44:00 Author: Unknown User |

BUT you sticker the holo to shine a sackboy sticker, set up some bounding box rules and you have The Invisible Woman. | 2011-06-21 21:38:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
