How to make a motor bolt change direction?

Archive: 6 posts

I'm attempting to make a death Roomba, if you will, but I need it to chase after the character?not just go in one direction. I tried making it a 'creature,' but it just doesn't go fast enough. I also tried adding a behavior chip to it, but then I found out those are only for Sackbots. So, in short, how can I make this big hunk of deadly plastic roll after Sack at irresponsible speeds? 2011-06-20 23:55:00

You can change the motor bolts speed and direction, all while holding down the square button over it. 2011-06-20 23:58:00

I know, but I need that to happen in-game, while playing. I need them to change direction to chase after Sack. Am I making sense? lol2011-06-21 00:04:00

You probably can put two player sensors (one on the enemy's left and one on the right), and feed both of their outputs into a direction combiner. Connect the output of the combiner to the bolt. I don't recall if the bolt has a direction option, but if it does, set that option because it would work perfectly.
Also- You can use sackbots to record actions. i know you said that it doesn't work, but it DOES if you do it like this:

Create a sackbot that is able to use controlinators, and create a controlinator with automatic entry turned on. Unpause and let the sackbot get inside. Also remember to make the controlinator invisible. Now you can wire up the controlinator to anything you want, and then you can record the sackbot's manipulation of your logic and mechanisms. This is extremely useful a lot of the time, but it still won't fix your motor bolt dilemma. Try the method I mentioned first, and see how it turns out.

I hope I was helpful.

Or you could use a direction splitter and attach it to a controllinator... Then have a sackbot set to control it. :O2011-06-21 04:33:00

That's an alternative that I mentioned as well. I think that sackbot recordings lack the precision that standalone logic has, so I still recommend the first method.2011-06-21 13:50:00
