Nuclear Fishin' Part 2

Archive: 15 posts

You continue your tour through a nuclear fuel cell manufacturing factory.
In the end you get to load the fuel cells into a rocket and you may even get to take it for a ride.
Ha....if you can get through the security check.

Right off the title catches my attention. It was great, very creative. I can tell already this will be good from the detail. The checkpoint "doors" are great. Such a good idea. The cutscenes are well done. Enviorment is amazing detail is perfect. This level has a feel like i am playing a part in a movie. Which is a unique experiance. I cannot get past stage 2 when i go to grapple that last box it always hits the other ones. lol maybe make the other boxes nongrabable except the last one which you must grab to go on. It was late and i died so many times so i gave up there but i hearted and will play again. Im not sure if u know it or not but im gonna tell you...you are a great creator your levels was so impressive, MM outta give you a call to help build story mode in LBP3 lol. im gonna head back to your planet today and try out some of your other levels My F4F try my level Neon Dreams, if you get stuck or have trouble please tell me exactly where.

Wow, thanks a million for the great review.
H and yes, stage 2 can be a little tough.
I just jump across the bottom until I get to the last pedestal and wait for the carrier on the right to be fairly alone on the way up before I grab it with the grapple.
Maybe it is too difficult, I will have another look at it.

Thanks again...

TIPS: When a character talk it take too much time. It take around 2-10sec to read and it take 20sec before it change so that a little thing you could fix.
At the part when we control a other sackboy you should add a respawn because at the part when the elevator goes up somehow my sack got stuck and fall down that a other thing to fix but anyway average it was good

Thanks Sport_Dude.
I did leave the time on the cutscenes longer because I had my grand daughter read them and she is 8 so I kind of used that as a base for the time on them.
Also for the benefit of the non english speaking players that may take a little longer.
I will check the respawn idea.
Thanks again...

I got to play your level last night and you really have some nice ideas and things going on here, but I have to say the pacing of the level just puts a damper on all your hard work. I do like like hearing your reasons for choosing such a long delay and in the end it's all your decision, but I for one struggled mightily at times to endure the cut scenes and finish this level to the end....but I did keep going so that I could see what you had in store next and to be able to give your level a proper feedback. I think this one element (pacing) alone will severely limit your plays. Perhaps you could add an option to skip all these? I know if I ever wanted to replay it again I would need/want this option.

Aside from pacing, I liked the overall story and progression of events. Aesthetically, your level ties together nicely from beginning to end and has some nice detail and font work throughout. Based on the "easier" game play throughout the level the grappling section stand out as pretty touchy/tricky compared to the rest of the level. I also tried getting past this many times before I realized where the heck the grappling hook was! Maybe the checkpoint should spawn you on the left side of the grappling hook instead? If your looking for any other areas to polish up, I would look at the section where you take that long ride in the "transport?" and the section where you get washed as it's another section that was funny, but took a bit too long.

All in all, you have something here that I think can be quite good with some minor tweaks. Nice job.

Great information, thanks PioriaSpitfire.
And I agree I didnt like the cutscene time either the first time I played it.
I dont like it in mine or in other levels for that matter.
The skip is a good idea....I will definately do that.
Yes the grapple is something I force myself to remember when I play it and that is another good suggestion.
Thanks again for the great feedback.

Well, ain?t this a pretty level. Well done sir. I thought I?d give you the full review on this one, just because your level is worth it and because I felt like doing this.

PRESENTATION
In terms of visuals this level is as clean as it can get. No awkward stickers or decorations or awkward spacing of those decorations. Every sticker and decoration is perfectly distanced from each other to give it that nice, clean look. Good use of materials and overall just a pretty sight to behold. Well done. An extra yay for me was the use of so many different custom stickers. It made the scene a whole lot more realistic and also a lot funnier to play through (Stair - O- Lizer, how?d you come up with these things?).

GAMEPLAY
The gameplay of this level is incredibly varied, due to the different objectives you need to fulfill during your little trip through the factory. Overall, the pacing of the level is quite slow, but this isn?t much of an issue. It makes the thing just a little more realistic and it's nice to play a level that progresses a little slower for a change. It also contributes to the originality of this level. Something that I noticed though was that the dialogue was a little too slow sometimes. Maybe you could speed up the pacing a little bit there. Then, at the radiation heating section, timing becomes an important factor and you need to pass through a section that ramps up the difficulty quite a bit. People who are awful at timing may quit here, because they just can?t get through. Perhaps you could slow some radiators down a bit, so people who are less timed can get through just a little easier, but that?s up to you. Another thing I noticed was that player Sackbots all look down in Idle mode during cut scenes. It's not much of an issue, but perhaps something you could take a look at. In the last section patience is very important to get through. This is a recurring theme in your entire level and is what makes your level really stand out. Well done.

AUDIO
The use of that funky, jazzy tune really fits this level (where?d you get it?) and makes playing it just a breeze. It's the typical working music for this kind of company: Relax, be patient, and everything will be just fine, while in the meantime you really need to dodge and jump for your life.

ORIGINALITY
I can?t remember the last time I played through a nuclear fuel factory; Oh, wait, I never have! Yes, this level is quite original and has a catchy name (I first noticed this level, because of the name ). This is a very realistic take on a regular working day for fuel pellet, uhhh, employees and features everything from the regular safety measures to the packing and shipping of the filled fuel containers. It was truly fun to play through and some parts were just hilarious.

OVERALL
Several people have appointed this level to be a potential MM pick and I can?t help but agree with those people. This level is excellently balanced, has a nice visual appeal and is just incredibly original. I wholeheartedly hearted it and gave it a ?Yay?. Well done!

If you have the time, I?d like you to play and give feedback on my level Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield:
