Stardonia North Challenge: Can you find the Yellow StarGuy, Nebis?

Archive: 10 posts

Hi everyone,

Please check out my level - Stardonia North. The idea is that you need to find all the StarGuys. There is a story too but the main idea behind the level is locating the StarGuys which are in prize bubbles. This means you don't need to find them all at once - just focus on finding one StarGuy at a time then you can exit the level (it's really easy to find) and return to look for other StarGuys some other time.

On first play, you should check out Hollion Village to get valuable information about Stardonia from the MushroomGuys. Amongst other things they will explain that Riddle Rocks are scattered around Stardonia - one for each StarGuy. Riddle Rocks will tell you a riddle and solving the riddle will give you a clue to where the StarGuy is located!

Now for the challenge! Can you find Nebis, the Yellow StarGuy?

A tip: After visiting Hollion Village, you might find The Yellow Riddle Rock by exploring the Main Castle Gardens! But will the riddle be enough to reveal where Nebis is hidden?

Let me know what you think of Stardonia North and thanks in advance for playing!

Brilliant level, I've been playing for the past 30 minutes and I'm still exploring, a must play for everyone.

Just curious, but... Is this a reference to the Mario series? StarGuy/ShyGuy, MushroomGuys/Toads? Sounds interesting enough! Might go try it later.2008-12-11 17:38:00

I have found a few, finished the level with 78% complete, would love a tour through the level sometime, I'm absolutely stumped how to get a few of the start guys. Ended up playing from 2:30 AM until 4:30 AM to get to 78%.

Looking forward to getting the other 22% but I think I'll need a hand to figure out a couple of them.

5 stars and hearted, I love the way it seems so large with the different locatios and how there are so many different ways to get places.

Huge scale adventure you got there... very nice design. Feels like it's own world... it was a little plain and blocky, although I understand why, because complex shapes = short, small level. The nuance of everything with every nook and cranny offering reward and total non-linearity is fanhtastic, and the character of everything is well implemented. Pretty good level...2008-12-11 20:11:00

Thanks for the comments guys - it means a lot after spending so much time slaving over this level (exactly 1 month)!

I wanted to create something with a clear goal that people could play in small doses. The more I got into it the more ambitious it became! In fact, it go so ambitious I had to cut it in half - Stardonia North is the first part, Stardonia South is coming next although I am gonna have a (maybe long) break first! (Tip: If you've found The South Bridge you will already know about Stardonia South and the areas that will feature there!)

Quozl - when you say you are stumped on some of the StarGuys, were the Riddle Rock riddles any help? That's the idea - if you can't find a StarGuy, look for the Riddle Rock instead. I was worried the riddles might be too hard to figure out though....

No mate I mean I can see the StarGuys but I am buggered if I can figure out how to get up to them, there is one in a castle looking area with ledges to stand on but you get so high and then can't get any higher, then there is another one in the green garden looking area with a roller you have to grab onto to get to it but for the life of me I've tried everything to get up to the roller or drop down to it to grab on and use it to get to the StarGuy but can't find a way to do it. Feel free to add me on PSN quozl1 as I'd love to go through the level with you.

This is good to hear! Teasing the player by letting him/her see the prize was one of the main design challenges of the level. I'm glad it's worked out!

there is one in a castle looking area with ledges to stand on but you get so high and then can't get any higher

That would be Tumbleweed, the orange StarGuy Maybe you could try finding the Orange Riddle Rock (It's at the end of the Rock Race) and let me know if the riddle is a good enough clue.

This is Muzzle, the Purple StarGuy. When I first published Stardonia there was a glitch that meant it was impossible to get to Muzzle! I have since fixed the problem but I will double check tonight just to be sure.

Feel free to add me on PSN quozl1 as I'd love to go through the level with you.

Sure, I will add you next time I'm online...

Thanks for taking the time to comment about Stardonia here - I appreciate the feedback.

I tested the level on Friday night and just wanted to let you know Muzzle (and every other StarGuy) is accessible - no glitches!
