Sackbot recorded behaviour

Archive: 4 posts

Hello sackfolks. Sorry for my english but I have a LittleBigProblem. I have a sackbot that controls the hovercraft and should drop a load at specific place. This is all recorded. The problem is when I trigger this event. Sackbot always behave as he is recorded, but always with a little variance. However in the end it cause a big troubles. He can come in and crash to a building or so instead of drop load and fly away as it should be. I had this trouble in every level I've ever created (for example when sackbot should switch the lever (which was recorded), but out of 10 attempts he do it 6-7 times as he?d miss the lever). It's pretty annoying and make record option almost useless... I hope you get what I mean and someone would know how to solve this and let me know. THX for attention.2011-06-19 09:12:00

if you record the action then the sackbot MUST be exactly where he was originally when you hit the record button. sometimes while you are creating sackbots tend to move position a little bit when you change something...so keep an eye on sackbots from time to time while you are creating. i had a similar problem. for example...
1--------2
+--------+ <<<< lets say i record this plus sign to move from left (1) to right (2), and the dotted lines represent the distance. it would be fine. but...
1-------- 2
---+------+ <<<< if the plus sign moves from its original postion then the the finishing point will be different.

so if you were to put a switch on position 2 and recorded the sackbot to hit this switch then it would be fine as long as the recording is started in the same position that you recorded it. you get what im saying

Yes I understand and know what you are talking about and be sure that I keep an eye on it, but it happens no matter if the sackbot is placed correctly as it was recorded...first I thought the recording software just don't recognize those gentle analog stick movements but it happens even if you use other buttons, which are not analog. I think it is caused simply by presence of physics engine. In other words - if you jump off the cliff with sackbot while recording and then playback it he never fall to the ground the same way it was recorded...2011-06-19 15:23:00

In that case, it's better to use pre-placed tags and put inputs into a sackbot controlinator to attain maximum accuracy. I can't fully describe it now but someone here probably will be able to.2011-06-19 19:45:00
