Help! Grab Switch Dilemma
Archive: 5 posts
Hey guys ! I was recently messing around in create mode when I came across a problem. How would I go about creating a grab switch player sensor? As in, a circuit that could determine how many sackpeople were grabbing a given sponge at any given time? After hours of deliberations, I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed, impossible What do you think? Any solutions? | 2011-06-19 01:09:00 Author: Unknown User |
Well Its defiantly not impossible, but explaining it sure seems like a hassle. (lol I would also have to do some research before explaining it, buuuut I'm currently on vacation... So yeah) | 2011-06-19 05:50:00 Author: fireblitz95 Posts: 2018 |
Pretty simple, I think. Make a transparent block of holo with a material tweaker on it, set to single grab. Stick a grab sensor on it. Duplicate this block four times and overlay all of them over a block of (ungrabbale) sponge. | 2011-06-19 11:49:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
I made one a few weeks back (using an approach not very dissimilar to the one suggested by Antikris). I sent it to Robbit10, and think you can get it in the newest version of the Creators Toolkit. If not it, just send me a littlebiginvite, and I'll hand it over to you | 2011-06-19 13:53:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |
I spent the last two days experimenting on this exact thing with Godzilla_KOM! Definitely check out the Creator's Toolkit level, that's the first and best place to find solutions to technical things like this. Wish I'd had that foresight, ah well. Depending on the shape of your sponge and how/why you want your players to grab it, there are many solutions, but yes, little pieces of holograms with a "single grab" material tweaker on each one is a good solution. If you dislike holograms or are going to move the sponge around a lot (and don't want the extra logic that comes with keeping the holo assigned), you can also just divide a sponge into 4 pieces and glue them together to make the main shape, again with a "single grab" material tweaker on each one. Then add a grab sensor on each piece, and wire all of them into an AND, OR, or XOR gate depending on the action(s) you want perform. | 2011-06-20 01:33:00 Author: Unknown User |
