Linking an intro movie to a level

Archive: 9 posts

I have made an intro movie, but I can not seem to automatically link it to my level once it has finished playing (like the movies in the story mode do). Can anyone help me with this.

Any guidance is appreciated.

To use a level link your level must be online.2011-06-18 12:08:00

I'm gonna repeat what I said on the other forum:

If you used a sequencer to make the movie, then all you have to do is put a battery at the end of the sequencer, and connect it to a level link that goes to your next level. If you're using only movie cameras one after the other, then connect the output of the last one to a level link. The level that the level link goes to has to be published though. I hope this helps, good luck

Thanks TNsv and craigmond. TNsv>I will try the battery at the end of the sequencer. I am guessing this will work the same way as the counter at the end of the sequencer which I tried, giving the result that I am trying to avoid, which is having the cut scene stop for a fraction of a second and show the level link check point before linking to the level. I am trying to keep a seamless blend from the cut scene to the start of the level.2011-06-19 04:35:00

In my 40k space hulk intro i just placed a battery at the end of the sequencer like MicGorbachev suggested linked to a level link and on the same spot as the battery above it i placed another camera that showed the last cutscene of the intro and was timed for 5 - ten secs which is how long it took to load the level link making it seem seamless.

This worked for me so it should work. Remember the movie camera and battery must be on the same part in the sequencer one above the other is how i did it so they both activate at the same time.

Sequencer

If you can't get it to work then inform me and i will help you find another solution. But i think it should work.

Is the level a movie level or a normal level just using a sequencer. Because mine actually is just a normal level not a movie level though it doesn't really matter i don't think.

Its either at this stage, but I think I would like to keep it as a normal level. I feel if players who are looking for a platformer see the movie icon, they will bypass it. I am working on it tonight so I will let you know how I get on.

EDIT: Just tried it and works perfectly. After playing around with the settings, I found the key is the have the last camera set longer than it takes for the level to load. Even if the camera is set to infinity, the cut scene will end once the movie is loaded. Thanks again.
