Take with huge amount of salt - MM hiring

Archive: 21 posts

While I really doubt it's LBP3 like rumored in the news (the game has been out for few months, and MM is still developing packs and stuff like Move and Teacher packs), it's nice to know that MM is hiring.

LittleBigPlanet is one of Sony’s biggest IPs, with the series bringing in the Play, Create, Share mantra that has worked ever so well with the PlayStation 3 exclusive platformer. It continued when LittleBigPlanet 2 released and took Play, Create, Share to a whole new level with the game giving user tools to create actual games within the game. Although LittleBigPlanet 3 hasn’t been hinted at a lot by developer Media Molecule, they may have just done that.

The image below shows that in the latest edition of Edge magazine Sony-owned Media Molecule are looking for a graphics programmer, as well as artists and programmers. The studio say it’s for “new things forming”. Check out the image below – click to enlarge the picture:

Haven't they had those job vacancies for a while now? It's strange to see them advertising in a magazine though!2011-06-17 14:21:00

Basically that's the real reason why I bothered to post such a piece of news...
Are MM desperate to find someone?
I don't know, but maybe they're really starting to move on something new.
I don't see LBP3 as a title for PS3, more of a PS4 launch title, but beside giving support to LBP2 for other 2 years, MM may well release something new.
I don't know the guys personally, but I doubt they're fine with limiting their creativity forever with LBP.

I can imagine everyone at Mm has loads of awesome ideas they want to work on, so I too can't imagine them limiting themselves to one series. We'll find out in 2 years.

It's Edge, there's always adverts for jobs in the games industry in there.

They also recently resorted to twitter, and the job ad on the Mm site sounds awfully desperate for that Graphics Programmer.2011-06-18 20:44:00

Wait...
Didn't a while back they posted something regarding a position for a graphics programer , then mention the game was portable?
Maybe there's a new game being devloped for PSV That's NOT LBP?

In the job description (http://www.mediamolecule.com/jobs/graphics_programmer/) it mentions being for a portable device (most likely PSV). Seeing as Tarsier Studios are working on LBPV, it could well be something entirely new. Who knows.

That was a bit rude, I didn't get what you meant by LBPT either. I've only ever seen it shortened to LBPV so it was a bit confusing.

So anyway, back on topic, I wonder what this is for.

There's nothing wrong with applying. It's not like they'd leave you out to dry if you had to move over. =)

Also, Alex did seem pretty desperate on twitter in finding a graphic programmer.

Wait.... Moving even if i were gonna move and that being pretty crazy just to get a job to make money.
But moving it self costs money. and that being something i don't really have...
so it's like I need a job to get a job? Man... I love the irony in life.

Wish I could just do it where i live. but i understand that's not how they want to run things.
so I'll just have to live with that. *mew
