Memetic Hazard Remastered [1/2]BlackWolfe9653
Disaster has struck in the friendly suburban town of Littleton in this totally overhauled remake. Rescue missing sackpeople, puzzle through a twisted reality, and purge corruption from the Imagisphere. (Part 1 of 2)
When I still had 2 more missing sackpersons left to add, thermo crunch set in. Rather than a repeat of the first version of this level, I decided to split the level into two parts, thereby allowing me to publish the level I always intended (albeit with a different puzzle that I like better). The second half, currently underway, assumes you've rescued all sackpeople in the first half (seven of them).

I'll admit that for a level entitled "Memetic Hazard," there's not a whole lot of... well, hazards. Basically, being the first half of the level means that the second half will continue to ramp up the difficulty. In order to help balance the level out a bit, I put in some gas in places it hadn't been in my original plan for the level, simply because without it, it was almost impossible not to ace the level.

Also, apparently I'm allergic to stickers.

Ok, I finished your level and I must say that I'm quite impressed.

Awesome Stuff:
Bubble emiters
Nice visuals

Stuff That Needs To Be Sent To The Void:
The bubble emitters weren't accurate.
The sticker switches were a bit too small sometimes.

Stuff Thats Strange, Yet Awesome:
Nys wuzz here.
Doctor Fliegenpu's quotes.
The bush.

I've been worried about the sticker switch part. The switches are positioned directly over the "whisper" sound effects, but sometimes they're hard to hear, and a couple of them are maybe a little too small. (Or definitely a lot too small.)

Yeah, I wanted to include that "Nys was here" but save defacing the university for the sequel. (I had a nice little bit of you spraypainting your name on the university wall in the sequel before profile corruption killed it.)

Thank you! I wonder if you found all of the bubble emitters. There are a lot of them this time, and some of them are snuck into weird places.

Some of the emitters ran into problems. One gets deflected by the moving platform -- I should put it off to the right and have it emit to the left instead of up. The one in the hidden cave to the left of that one sometimes ricochets under Sackboy... any others you had problems with, or were those the main two?

Regarding the sticker switches, yeah -- they're the exact same size as the "Doodle Eye" stickers hidden behind the polystyrene -- I should probably make them (and the sound areas) larger.

The bush.

My favorite Fliegenpu line to write was "Ja, I got Sonny, babe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzW_7ANnHZI&t=22)." Even if naming that character was in bad taste (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Bono#Death).

Out of curiosity, is this a whole new memetic hazard? Or an enhanced version of the original?2011-06-19 02:25:00

Think of it as a director's cut or a remake. It's an entirely new level from scratch -- except that I reused the lost sackpeople rather than recreate them -- but with the same story.

Since I'm splitting this in two, I've taken the time to make the cave much better looking and better playing, IMHO. Same will hold true for the final area, which, in the original was - let's face it - godawful.

Note: Republished with better emitter placement and visual cues for the sticker switches.
