Does anyone play this?

I got the game off a mate a while back, but my mac couldn't run it. He mentioned it recently, and I installed it and had a go. It runs perfectly now, and it's great fun.

I've been playing 2v2 exclusivley with him, he is in a pretty high league so by playing with him I'm picking it up pretty quick. We're only in bronze league 2v2, but in 4 days we've gone from 100th in the division to 12th, initially with him doing all the work, but now I'm actually useful

I'm planning on starting 1v1 soon as well, need some more practice though. It is a fantastic game though, and I've started watching all of the Day9 videos, which are epic...

Anyone else here play? Would be interesting to play some matches if you do 		2011-06-16 01:15:00

I used to play, just isn't the same as Starcraft 1. Starcraft 2 is so much more anti social than the first one. I mean you need email addresses or some friend ID to add people? Wtf is up with that? Since when did Starcraft become a Wii?

I was really good at this game too. I was in the Diamond League for 1v1s and 2v2s before they changed all the leagues or whatever they did (Diamond isn't the highest anymore if I remember correctly.)		2011-06-16 05:39:00

I never played SC1 so I couldn't compare them really lol.

I played both Zerg and Protoss but Zerg just requires way too much micro/macro ( I don't think you know what those terms mean yet but you'll know soon. ) So I stuck with Protoss. Terran is fun too. Just requires a lot of multitasking with tank pushes and timed attacks.

I might start playing again I just need to get the game back from my friend.

There was this really overpowered strategy for Protoss but apparently it was nerfed. It was called the "Archon Toilet"
What you'd do was take the Mothership and have her throw out a blackhole, it would suck all the opponents' guys in and then you would send your own archons inside the black hole. And when they came out all hell would break loose. (Because archons have high Splash Damage.)

Yeah, that was nerfed not long after release. The amount of resources it takes to get the mothership now is just not worth it. (Though I have a feeling they may of made it less recently, but still too high).

Anyways these two channels are among the best to watch commentaries on matches. There's also a few basic tutorials as well among the videos.

I tried to get back into playing it about 2 months ago but I got my *** handed to me a lot, upon release I'd win about half my matches, when i picked it back up i struggled to win 1 D: Out of practice and what-not. But it's a seriously awesome game. You have to invest quite a lot of time to get good but it's worth it.		2011-06-16 14:06:00

I know what they mean As I say, I'm good mates (from XBL) with the guy who gave me the game (he got 2 copies) and he was in Platinum league 1v1 for a time, he got out of practice though. So he's teaching me all the basic stuff I need, and at the same time getting used to the game again, so we're storming through Bronze 2v2 at the moment, he reckons it'll jump us straight to Gold though, so I'll probably get done over then...

It's very good fun though

I just did my placement match for 1v1. I lost on Metalopolis after my early push failed, and it decided to place me in Gold division. I was kinda hoping for Bronze, purely because that way I could learn better... Ah well. lol2011-06-18 22:58:00

Ah, once I get 'dat ultimate pack I'll probably put some archon as my picture. I'm decent at SCI: Brood War but I seem to only be able to be in Bronze for League on all levels.

I like Custom Games more, I guess..

Heart of the Swarm looks...interesting. Seems like all the effort in Wings of Liberty was just undone...we should have went for Mengsk, hmm?

I've not really tried the SP on Wings of Liberty, just MP, and they seemt o be planning on keeping that similiar.

Bump because I'm still playing this.

Had a race switch after months of not being great with 'toss. Have been learning how to play Zerg for the last couple of days, it's going quite well but I'm still failing in 1v1's. Just played a game against a guy that I really should have won inside 20 minutes, but I couldn't finish off his base. Ended up dragging out for 55 minutes, until I made a mistake and he won it...

I maintain that this is the single most annoying ****ing game ever.

Trying to get out of a low league is impossible because all people do is use cheap, cheesy tactics, and if you lose you can't get promoted. Unfortunately for them they can't get promoted because they can't win properly. My win streak of 15 has just ended with 7 straight losses to ****ing cheesy twats, I don't think I've ever been this ****** off at a game.

Got starcraft 2 as an christmas present today, but I'm not allowed to install it until christmas. I've played very few matches in the starter edition so I'm very inexperienced. I'm trying to learn by watching Husky's videos and such. ._.

I play as Terran... I still dont understand at all how Protoss work...

Watch Day[9]. Go to day9.tv, and go into the video archive, then filter it to 'Newbie Tuesday'. Some of the best, if not the best, videos out there for learning how to play. He's also awesome. He does a lot of analysis and is also a far better player than someone like Husky - Day9 was the best Zerg play in North America for a while on Brood War, and is Grand Master with all 3 races on SC2, so he knows his stuff.

Yeah, practice league is played at 'normal' speed, while normal ladder games are at 'faster'. You might want to go into some matches vs the AI and practice on 'faster' because it is quite a big change.

Anyway, I finally got promoted into Gold League, so it's a bit of an improvement, hopefully I can go up again next season to Platinum.		2011-12-23 02:07:00

I like EG in general

HuK is awesome though, as is IdrA. JYP seems pretty awesome as well though

Ehhh I dunno. I've been playing Brood War (free download from the ICCUP site, although you can only play on ICCUP servers) and it's clearly a good game but it has plenty of problems as well, so I dunno...

Won my first starcraft 2 match yesterday. Felt good man. Also yesterday was the first time I played online since christmas.

You can have chat channels on SC2, you can access player profiles on SC2 but I have no idea what SC1 ones were like, so maybe that is a fair point, the lack of a win/loss tracker is annoying but I just use sc2gears anyway for that, so I dunno... I still like SC2 a lot. lol		2012-01-15 16:24:00
