Review # 19-20 Devon: Part 1, Devon: Part 2 Part 1: http://lbp.me/v/xrt1g5 Part 2: http://lbp.me/v/y609n7 levels like these are sort of rare for me. levels that are dark, gruesome, has a decent story, and can actually get a laugh out of me. Atmosphere The first level starts out with a short cutscene of a person named Devon being kidnapped by demons from her house, Somehow you manage to hear the ruckus and head out to save her without a 2nd thought. You then find yourself in a world gruesome, bloody, and dark. The level's introduction says this level has mild imagery, and boy does it have some. But while the level is dark and bloody, it does lack in some areas, the first part of the level is made of cardboard, Basic cardboard... Yea. The 2nd level looks better and is more dark then bloody. The characters are pretty interesting, part of it is due to their flat out awesome costumes. My favorite is this guy with a white pumpkin head, who has some mystery behind him. While I would've been eager for part 3 and on wards without the good story. It's the story that really makes me eager for the next parts. 24/30 Music & Sounds During the level there's a custom rock song used. Sounds are used to ok effect. 15/20 Gameplay The gameplay ranges from fairly good to annoying. Some parts are fun like shooting at "dry bones" and demons. But some parts feel like they should've been tested more, this one part where you freeze platforms is annoying and some parts where you grapple a flying eyeball are frustrating. Overall it's pretty fun. 37/50 Final Thoughts I really enjoyed this level, It's immersive, has good bloody visuals and atmosphere, and fun gameplay. What more commendation do you need?
