PS3 Fan problems : Like a Vaccum after 10 mins! HELP! :[
Archive: 8 posts
Well, Hai. You see, this has been a long problem for about 2 years now, but my ps3 is incredibly damaged, I believe. I have and 80GB MGS PS3 (NOT gunmetal grey) And i'll turn it on, and there's a loud noise, that goes away as soon as it comes on. Then, almost immediately, the terror begins. Oh the horror! 5 mins - Quiet vacuum sound 10 mins - Sounds like vacuum is next door 15 - mins - Sound like i have a vacuum right next to my ear. I REALLY, hate this noise. Plus, my warranty is up. So i don't know what to do. Is it possible to call sony and ask if they could still fix it? Or send me a SLIM? Sigh.... | 2011-06-15 17:20:00 Author: pilsburydoughboy55 Posts: 236 |
well its defo on its way out so i would back up all your saves while you can and sony would fix it but for ??? and they wouldnt send you a slim it would be the same model as your one but will be 2nd hand | 2011-06-17 18:05:00 Author: howMUCHforBOUNTY Posts: 623 |
It is going to YLOD soon, as bounty said. I'm sorry. I suggest you to back up, deactivate the system and ask for a replacement. Don't put discs in it or it will get stuck when you don't expect it | 2011-06-17 20:18:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Back-up your data (or, if you have PS Plus, save it online), and get your PS3 evaluated by a technical expert. Your worst case is a potential YLOD, though it could simply be a worn-out/overheated part as well. If you must buy a replacement, and if you have the budget, get the Slim. But, if you don't have much in terms of spending like most people, look for a refurbished console. They're quite reliable, and last for quite a long time (my refurbished 60G has been frequently used since '08). | 2011-06-18 08:21:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
Ouch, those 80gigs do that... Same problem here ( but I got a new PS3 now ) Definitely a design issue, since 80gigs usually get it. | 2011-06-18 08:25:00 Author: theswweet Posts: 2468 |
Happened to my 60G. Only problem is that 60Gs are harder to find when it comes to looking for a replacement. Sony just sends you one of the defected 2nd hand ones they get back from customers/stores (trust me, I've faced this issue). My only suggestion is to get a Slim. That's about it. | 2011-06-18 14:51:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
Thnks alot guys. It's been freezing on the internet a lot lately and on LBP. Is that worse? Again. thnks. Now all i have to do is persuade my mom. :/ | 2011-06-18 21:07:00 Author: pilsburydoughboy55 Posts: 236 |
Mine's a brand new slim I've only had for half a year and it freezes on the internet every 10 minutes and I have to reset it, it's just the rubbish browser. But I do seriously suggest backing up all data and stuff, it looks like your Playstation's heading to an early grave. Good luck with persuading your mum to get you a slim. | 2011-06-19 01:15:00 Author: abyssalassassin Posts: 717 |
