Avalon's secret identity

Archive: 10 posts

I was studying for my test on midevil litterature tommorow,
and as I was reading a bit about King Arthur, I found that in one of his tales, he gets a deadly injury and gets carried away to the city of Avalon, where he's supposed to return from after a thousand years.
Reading that I couldn't help but wonder if this was the inspiration to the names Avalon centrifuge and Avalonia.
When you think about it, a thousand years is kind of a combination of ten centuries, as in century fuge, and Avalon is a big bragger, allways talking about how great he is, King Arthur appears in some of the most heroic of stories, and if all of those stories were true I could imagen that he would brag about them all the time as well. And the Aliance is kind of like the knights of the round table, since theres six of them (there are six knights, right?), and they need to work together to save everyone. It all makes even more sense when you realise that Avalon first showed up in Da vinci's hideout (Midevil times), and than came back in the super high-tech (suggesting that at least a thousand years have gone by) city Avalonia, just like the story said. Think about it.
On the other hand, I read somewhere on youtube (I think) that Avalon Centrifuge came from A villain Century fuge, and that he was supposed to be a villain, but that they change that around over the course of making the story mode. This message came along with early recordings of the voice actors, where Avalon has like a really evil sounding voice. But my idea somehow seems more logical to me.
Anyway, tell me what you guys think.

I like this theory. It's unlikely to be true, but it sounds awesome. 2011-06-15 14:00:00

well, it's not really ment as a message of "I Genarely believe that King Arthur is trapped in a video game as Avalon centrifuge", more in a way of Arthur is used as inspiration.
anyway just found out by coinsidence that there's an island just outside of LA also named Avalon.

Da vinci's hideout (Midevil times)

Incorrect; for The middle ages technically occured between the years 400 and 1500, even though it is common to describe the middle ages as being from th 11th to 13th century. Considering the age of Leonardo Da Vinci in this game, with his grey facial hair and the quote of his in the level 'Current Affairs' it is safe to say Da Vinci is at least 50 years old, leaving the year 1502. This is two years after Medievil times technically ended, 202 years after popular belief.

In fact, Da Vinci lived approximately 1000 years after King arthurs reign. 1452-1519, and Arthur is believed to have been king from approximetly from 480-510. Interesting? Yes. Relevant? No, for I doubt Media Moleucle looked that much into it, also considering all the other time zones it seems the alliance entered. Indeed it is an incredible fact that both Leonardo and Arthur share the exact same... Oooh my poptarts are done...

Also...he does have a look of Arthur too, if you look at the way Arthur is often depicted.2011-06-15 22:10:00

After listening to the ditched Media Molecule audio files, I don't trust Avalon Centrifuge anymore, anyway 2011-06-16 01:42:00

Can you care to link me to the quotes? I like digging through beta files of random games.

This is an interesting theory, and it all makes sense, however, a Centrifuge is a piece of laboratory equipment, (it looks like this) (http://glossary.periodni.com/image/centrifuge.gif).

either way, interesting theory.
