Hi all, I just wanted to share my creation with you, called "Tomb of Light" (username: Marynor). I spent a lot of hours creating this level, and plan to further extend it when I have the time. At the moment, it has about 500 hearts and 1600 plays. Let me know what you think of it! Great fansite by the way http://computed-emotion.nl/lbp/tomb_of_light1.jpg http://computed-emotion.nl/lbp/tomb_of_light2.jpg http://computed-emotion.nl/lbp/tomb_of_light3.jpg http://computed-emotion.nl/lbp/tomb_of_light4.jpg http://computed-emotion.nl/lbp/tomb_of_light5.jpg | 2008-12-10 07:10:00 Author: Marynor Posts: 7 |
I played this a few days back, and thought it was really awesome. The bit where it's all dark, with the eyes, was really well done. Could you post here as you update it? | 2008-12-10 16:55:00 Author: LFF Posts: 434 |
it looks pretty impressive, i'll play it for full review, LBP all the way! | 2008-12-10 17:34:00 Author: Ineedhelp9 Posts: 32 |
Thanks guys! @LFF: Yesterday I uploaded V2.00, so if you played more than 30 hours ago, you played V1.00 and you can check the update The new part is about a torch you have to drag around. @Indeedhelp9: Do you mean you are going to write a review? If so, keep in mind that the level is not yet finished. At the moment, it's at V2.01. The stuff that is there is finished and polished, but there will be more gameplay parts where the current version ends. Expect some more puzzels and a very climactic ending So if you review, keep in mind that the level will still be extended, so just judge the stuff that is there and don't say "it's too short", because I am aware of that and I'm working on it. Thanks and have fun playing the level! | 2008-12-10 17:44:00 Author: Marynor Posts: 7 |
That was a great level Marynor! Hearted it and can't wait for your updates | 2008-12-10 19:51:00 Author: Laekroth Posts: 23 |
Thanks Laekroth! Today I updated the level to the near-final version, V4.01. Check it out, I hope you like it! I'm currently adding a multiplayer switch which should make a multiplayer game more enjoyable. But it is still best played alone. | 2008-12-23 22:31:00 Author: Marynor Posts: 7 |
Wow. That was really good. One of the best levels I've played today. Such variety. I especially love how you handled the underwater bit. | 2008-12-24 06:03:00 Author: BassDeluxe Posts: 984 |
Wow. Definitely impressive! I'll take a look later and come back to write some comments | 2008-12-24 11:26:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
I played and hearted. Great level. MORE PLEASE! | 2008-12-24 11:43:00 Author: mongoose7 Posts: 473 |
WOW!! Marynor you definitely made an AWESOME level! In my three favorite LBP level ever played. Your use off lightings is very impressive. It is something really important for me in my own creations and i'm happy to find an other creator that take a lot of time in adjusting the lighting atmospher of the level. The acuracy of the level is perfect: a very good challenge! The overall construct of the level is very clever and the puzzles well done (i was impressed by your light-activated machanisms). There is always things that happen that i didn't suspect in the level, as the water coming in one of the last room, or the final "twist". It is an overall very impressive work. Well done. I wan't more levels like this! 5 stars, hearted and "splendid" tag. | 2008-12-26 22:29:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
This level is amazing. Seriously, honestly, and truly amazing. The part with the eyes actually made me scream out "holy @#$%!!!" ... I immediately hearted this level and have shown it to all of my friends. So much attention to detail was taken to make this level, and it really shows that a lot of work was put into this. Your lighting effects are out of this world in this level. How long did this take you to make? I know ours took two weeks working every night, and yours is way nicer than ours! You definitely earned a heart and five starts from me, mate. ^_^ | 2008-12-27 02:37:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
great level, the part where u point the beams of light at the others is truly awesome | 2008-12-27 04:57:00 Author: UltraNative Posts: 59 |

I really wanna try this level, but I can't actually find it... Is there a trick to finding specific levels? I tried the search thing, but it just shows loads of 'Tomb Raider' levels! | 2008-12-27 10:55:00 Author: Unknown User |

An absolutely amazing level. Hope ya proud! | 2008-12-27 12:38:00 Author: MuddledMuppet Posts: 115 |
I played this today, and I must say that it was probably the best level I have ever played. I loved the levels Indiana Jones styled parts, where you had to hurry before the doors closed or the spikes hit you. The dark part with the eyes was also great, and the part where you had to fiddle with the spotlights and then the water filled the room was just genius. I gave it 5 stars and hearted it, as most people have probably done | 2008-12-27 15:24:00 Author: Yardbird Posts: 29 |

This is a great motivation to start on a new level. As for your question xkappax, I would say something over 100 hours. I started on this level with a lot of LBP experience, so I could create most of the mechanisms quite fast. But even so, it's a lot of work, as you can imagine. I'm a perfectionist, so most of the time got into little things that give the level a little extra. At the moment, I'm working on a multiplayer switch, which adds some new puzzles only accessible for two players, and skips the one player parts in the beginning that are quite frustrating to play in multiplayer. It will also slightly change some mechanisms to make it a more interesting 2 player experience. I'll post something when it's ready! Again, a big thanks to everyone for their fantastic support! | 2008-12-29 13:27:00 Author: Marynor Posts: 7 |
I can believe that your level took that long to make. Ours (centralia) took about 76 hours to make. Your level reminds me a lot of a level my friend patrick is working on. He's been working on it since launch and isn't even close to done yet. ^_^ i think that you'll find that the little big planet community is very friendly for the most part, and full of constructive criticism. From time to time I will get a really stupid comment on our levels, but for the most part it's all been actual feedback! I was a little worried about that when we first posted our first level back in November. Definitely make more levels, though. I really enjoy levels with the atmosphere that you've created (i love caves) and I'd like to see more. I'll be interested in seeing your two player part, too. ^_^ | 2008-12-29 17:52:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Great job. The dark room with eyes was very well done, the spotlight room was cute and your water effect and path was great. Also the player drops were well done, it's not often that I actually don't expect that the floor is about to come out from under me. I could write another paragraph on everything, but I'm sure you've heard it already. Nice cohesive level, possibly the best "storytelling" feel I've seen so far - smooth transitions that maintain tell the story nicely, without being overt, and yet you reall feel a sense of accomplishment when you get to the treasure room. I died because I wanted to watch the boulder release from the treasure stash. Then I remembered the warning I got 15 seconds earlier. | 2008-12-30 04:45:00 Author: mmmiles Posts: 16 |
i played it too , liked it very much but we were 3 playing and at many ocassions they were too many visual fx the frame rate droped very low. Its one of the best i played tho. | 2008-12-30 04:52:00 Author: Dakurv Posts: 28 |

Thanks everyone! @xkappax: I played your map and it is quite fun to play, and there is a fun variety of stuff in there. There was a part where you had to swing a bunch of black blobs and go over a volcano thingy, that's where I died because it was quite tricky. I'm still working on the two player part, the main problem is that my level keeps randomly dropping things out. It's a strange bug and it takes a lot of time to completely test the level after each update. Today I found two missing lights and a missing checkpoint... I hope MM fixes these things ASAP. @mmmiles: thanks! Too bad you died. Actually, it's almost impossible to die at the last part (unless you wait or something, like you did). But I wanted to add some extra "stress" to make the ending more impressive. @Dakurv: That's quite likely, I tested the level for one player and I know it is already quite heavy on the PS3 in that situation. Today I tested it with three people (to test the multiplayer switch) and didn't notice any real drops, but we didn't play to the end. I can imagine the "mirror" room causes some drops. | 2008-12-30 16:56:00 Author: Marynor Posts: 7 |

But I wanted to add some extra "stress" to make the ending more impressive. What can I say, I wanted to watch how you transitioned the treasure room into a boulder and wanted to see it release I paid the price for curiosity. | 2008-12-30 17:04:00 Author: mmmiles Posts: 16 |
Marynor, I played your map again, and you seriously added so much more stuff since the first time I played it! That part at the end where you go all "indiana jones" is really quite brilliant. My friends liked it a lot too. Oh, and that part with the swingamajigs in the centralia level (the volcano part) ... I seriously think I am going to make that a double life check point. I don't know why, but recently I've been dying there a lot! Maybe I'll do that tonight! so you have stuff dropping out of your level too, eh? In centralia, the wall used to say "Blood Specter" in graffiti. I would put it back and it would just disappear again. Not sure why, not sure how, but it just decided it wasn't going to be there anymore. Finally I just gave up and now the wall looks really bare where it was. I agree that media molecule needs to fix that, along with many many other things. | 2008-12-31 17:55:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Amazing level | 2008-12-31 20:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
What can I say ??? Your "Tomb of light" is the most impressive level i've played ! First, the management of the light is very impressive. the changing character through your universe is unwavering. For me, the most impressive is the brilliant scripting to your level. Each part of the level is punctuacted by scenes of transition very cinematic or comics. I loved the scene of the eyes in the dark as far as the water area very realistic. Congratulation Marynor ZaNy | 2009-01-05 09:39:00 Author: ZaNy Posts: 12 |
I loved your stage. It was great! I would wish that I could see it it in it's early development stages That would be great. I'm making a level that way (WARNING WARNING! self promotion!). I forgot the name... If you ever find the time to check it out, search for my PSN blizzard_cool Thx Well back to your level. As said it is awesome and I have a question. At the end, that lamp thing u have to push.... How did u make the bubbles to appear (not the points). Are those just lights that are coming from it??. Oh and how much free space do you still have in your thermometer? | 2009-01-05 12:43:00 Author: blizzard_cool Posts: 752 |
Oh wow can't believe there's level showcase on here. Tomb of Light is an old classic to me. I always loved it! I see you are no longer on LBPC or LBP, sorry for reviving an old topic but i had to make a tribute to this level. Here's to you Marynor, wherever you are! Hi JKTree, For some reason I checked this topic again today (it's in my favourites) and found your reply. Thank you so much for the reply and the movie! It's a great honor that someone takes the time to make a movie and document the level on youtube, and it's really fun for me to see someone actually playing the level and finding some of the secrets. Also funny to see you found a bug, I wasn't aware of that! Anyway, a big thanks for the tribute, it means a lot! Greets, Marynor | 2009-11-06 12:42:00 Author: Marynor Posts: 7 |
Ooh, Marynor, I was unaware that you still posted here. This level, to this day, is still one of my very favorites. ^_^ The lighting in your level absolutely inspired me to make my Crystal Cave in Autumn level several months ago. Thanks again for a great level. | 2009-11-06 21:16:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
