Who Watches the Watchmen?

Archive: 12 posts

I worked on this short movie all about WATCHMEN made for the fans, plays more like a trailer though with just a collage of memorable scenes from the graphic novel and movie playing seamlessly with one of my favorite songs which i also spent alot of time on (Mogwai - Autorock) ... It took the better part of 2 months to finish this very cinematic piece but i might want to add more to it later, but i published it for now to see the response i get...so please oblige and let me know what you all think positive or negative reviews don't matter to me thanks and Enjoy yeah yeah

This is a truly, truly epic bit of creation. Right up there with your Ghostbusters (http://lbp.me/v/zh8243) stage, but it's an amazing thing to watch. The attention to detail and effort to make the mood and tone of this so close to the movie is impressive. It makes me want to take my own stages further with cutscenes that can build such feeling as this does.

Obviously your source material helps with this but the brooding feel you give the characters is a rare thing to see in the cutesy LBP world. The level of detail in the scene with Dr. Manhattan's transformation was so impressive. I know that it's just a Sackbot with a electricity danger tweak but the framing, and how the hand reaches out toward the screen show the electricity running almost around every finger! Very well done to create that moment.

I haven't really followed much watchmen, I saw the movie once so I might not be the right person for how accurate this is but it's pretty spot on to the trailers.

The use of Sackbot scaling and camera position in the scene where Dr. Manhattan is on the battle field is also impressive. I kind of want to see a stage around all of this as it has massive potential to make a great world (considering it's already built). It actually gave me an idea to build a Dr. Manhattan Sacksuit, as the subtle blue glow he has would look awesome jumping around a dark hippie laden street.

Very impressive it reminded me of the movie and i thought the detail was amazing.

Like Mr_Fusion said i would love to see all of this incorporated into a level maybe a level like the actual watchmen game.
When you make another part to this i will be back to watch it.

Great Job.

Actually, I just thought that maybe you should give the runtime in the level description. Or not... It may discourage people from watching it, but I don't think it would. Although I am yet to watch that 50 minute Mm picked movie because of it's length.

Also I don't think I ever thanked you for your comments on my levels. So thanks!

Fantastic trailer level! I'm a big fan of the movie with it's dark undertones.
Lots of detailed scene for scene reproduction, for once a trailer that actually left me wanting more.
The characters really looked the part and the titles/fonts were perfect.
A giant sackbot might help add scale to the Dr Manhattan vietnam scene and some extra layer work is a must to add some scale to the future martian base.
Best movie trailer reproduction I've seen on LBP, congrats! Hearted.

I have to agree with Mr F here. The movie is about the perfect length. I do hope the future series combines gameplay with cinematics, even the best LBP movies leave most people wanting some gameplay action and the vast majority of LBP movies aren't worth watching. Let's face it, if you want movie entertainment there are plenty of blue ray, dvd, tv and cable offerings, LBP movies just haven't become a viable source of entertainment longer than 5-6 mins, any longer than that then the desire to return to pod simply becomes overwhelming.

I am so glad I found this! This is an excellent trailer that pays homage to a graphic novel I consider one of the best of all time. There was so much detail packed into such a short time, but it was paced very well. I have to agree about the Dr. Manhattan transformation-the cinematography made it one of the most memorable moments of the trailer. The music and visuals helped set up the dark, brooding, and pensive atmosphere that pervaded the story. I found the scaled sackbots strange at first because I have never seen them used extensively, but I got used to them after a minute. I think they definitely helped to keep the cute out of the way and focus on the characters. Excellent job!2011-06-17 05:53:00

Really enjoyed this movie. Great trailer. You've really captured some of the key moments from the graphic novel.
Very good music too.
Cool Comedian costume.

added a few extra scenes and done some upgrades to some other scenes if you've been paying attention then you'll know what i added or changed, overall i think its better than when i first released it, sort of like how george lucas's star wars was released in 1977 and then 20 years later he adds and upgrades and enhances his movies, which some may like but what others may be in love with the original....but as for me i feel its complete and i can rest, i paid attention to every second of every scene and put as much detail as i possibly can into 3 mins of a trailer...2011-06-22 07:59:00
