Centralia A Ghost Story, The Fall of Winter and What's The Matter
Archive: 55 posts
Hi. I'm new to the forums, but my husband and I have made a few levels. I do the art and stories, he does the game mechanics for the most part. PSN - Catiers Level - Centralia - A Ghost Story Location - Near Pennsylvania i have a youtube video of it here (i apologize in advance for my stupid commentary): jtxFDraYXGc Here are some pictures, as well. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/DSC04638.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/DSC04649.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/DSC04629.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/DSC04673.jpg This is a level based on a ghost town in Pennsylvania called Centralia. It was evacuated back in the 60's because a mine fire broke out and they couldn't put it out. Most of the residents were relocated, but many refused to leave. Now there are 9 residents in the entire town and smoke pours out of the ground. In this level you travel through an abandoned structure in the town and then go into the creepy, burning mine to face the dreaded Blood Specter. This level took us about two weeks to make working almost every night for four or five hours. I hope you enjoy it! PSN - xkappax Level - The Fall of Winter Location - Also near pennsylvania i have a youtube video of it here: 3Shn6n-G5Lg Here are some pictures of it: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/DSC04680.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/DSC04714.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/DSC04718.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/DSC04723.jpg This level is a story driven level with a rather goofy story. The spirit of Autumn gets angry at the spirit of Winter because she says that the season of Winter is more beautiful than Autumn. The spirit of Autumn takes his revenge on the land of Winter and kidnaps the spirit of Winter! Your task is to save the land of winter! This level was mostly my side project while my husband was working on our new level. If anything works remotely well in this level, he probably built it. and finally, my newest and silliest level: PSN - xkappax Level - What's the Matter? (disclaimer: this is not a serious level) Location - near california This level was a response to media molecule patching out the ever so useful cow glitch. My playstation wasn't online, nor was it updated to the latest patch, so I finished this level using the cow glitch and then updated. The level is all about dark matter turning on it's creator, and it's a totally goofy experience. I will upload images of this later. Anyway... I hope you enjoy these levels, and thanks to everyone who has already played these levels! | 2008-12-10 04:10:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
I'm watching the videos and I'm loving the commentary lol. "You get the lift from The Mines level in LittleBigPlanet." "You get it from LittleBigPlanet?" "No, you get it from Gears of War." | 2008-12-10 05:02:00 Author: Voltiare Posts: 646 |
I'm watching the videos and I'm loving the commentary lol. "You get the lift from The Mines level in LittleBigPlanet." "You get it from LittleBigPlanet?" "No, you get it from Gears of War." Haha, I laughed at that too. | 2008-12-10 05:15:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
great levels and hilarious commentary | 2008-12-10 06:56:00 Author: muttjones Posts: 843 |
heh, thanks guys. Larry and I are very sarcastic to one another. My favorite part is the fact that I forgot to take out the fight we had about him not having that sticker for the secret room. it was about 1 in the morning when I finished that level. I hit record and just started talking. I actually had a kid on youtube send me a comic that said "can you please shut the @#$% up, thanks bye!" on my video, hence the disclaimer. OH, and by the way, I just realized that the level's not called what it's called in the video. It's called "Centralia - A Ghost Story" and not "Centralia - A Ghost Town" ... sorry if there was any confusion because of this! i have to hop on these forums later and check out some more of your levels. I look forward to it! | 2008-12-10 12:23:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Haha, that first video is great, and just by the looks of it makes me want to get my level complete faster, so that I can stop building and start playing some of these. This one will probably be among the top of my list. Alot of your homemade contraptions are pretty awesome, like the jet propelled wheel in the winter level. So simple, but it amused me seeing it in the video. | 2008-12-10 14:17:00 Author: MrGlass Posts: 21 |
Looks like a good fun level, will check it out now. The commentary was classic and I think you invented a new word "swingymajigs" Cheers QuozL | 2008-12-10 15:05:00 Author: QuozL Posts: 921 |

I'll upload some pictures tonight because that's a good idea (i'm currently not at home). And thanks for all the kind words, though, everyone! ^_^ | 2008-12-10 16:25:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Lol, haven't seen your commentary videos until just now. Watching the video was just as fun as playing the level. | 2008-12-10 21:46:00 Author: Traxxer911 Posts: 22 |
Heh. Thanks, Traxxer. I was seriously really tired when I did that commentary and I just watched it again because I completely forgot what I had said in it. Swingamajigs. What was I thinking? ^_^ Anyway, I have uploaded some images for the first post finally. I took billions of pics, but only uploaded a few. If you guys want any more, let me know! I just got this level reviews, and I want to thank the reviewer for the kind words. I have come here from gamefaqs because someone gave my level a 6.5 out of 10 because "The design and story were just awful" or something to that extent. I like it here better. | 2008-12-13 12:49:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
hahaha love the commentary. very awesome level | 2008-12-13 20:25:00 Author: xbriandeadx Posts: 134 |
thank you so much for saying that. ^_^ We've got a new level in the works, so hopefully that one will go well. I'll keep everyone updated. | 2008-12-13 22:26:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
xkappax, Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner regarding playing and reviewing Centralia. I recently played it with 1 other person and we both LOVED it. I really liked how if flowed and you incorporated some variety to the look and feel. The visuals are great (love the spider swinging section!) and really appreciated the custom feel to your level. Also it is appreciated that Centralia is multi-player friendly (at least for 2....probably more). There are so many user created levels that are not multi-player friendly and it is refreshing you seemingly considered that element. Really liked the atmosphere, the length of the level, and the variety of challenges. Also, liked the pumpkin monsters. All in all a very high quality level that both myself and the individual I was playing with liked very much. I plan to return for futher play-throughs, which I believe is a strong indication of a high quality level. Great job! Keep up the great work (it is much appreciated). Lastly, please feel free to send over my way any other gems you find through your travels. I have come across some other great user levels and need to update my list with my findings. Centralia will be transitioning from the on-deck worksheet to the reviewed spreadsheet, and will be taking a spot in my top 10. Sincerely, badgerfan89 | 2008-12-24 14:01:00 Author: badgerfan89 Posts: 33 |
hey, thanks a lot, badgerfan89, you don't know how much that means to me (and my husband) ... I remember making "Centralia" and thinking things like "this level is too basic, no one is ever going to play it" etc, etc. and with the way cool levels was, that fear started to become a reality. What surprised me was that when people actually started playing it, they enjoyed it and were leaving nice comments. It makes me so overjoyed that something that I was a part of is being enjoyed by more than like 2 people! So thanks for everyone's kind comments on this level! And thanks again, badgerfan! | 2008-12-24 14:23:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
These level looks great! i added them to my "play list". I will be back for some comments | 2008-12-24 15:38:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
aw, thanks takelow, that's kind of you! I hope you enjoy them! We're working on a new level right now. Just did the preliminary sketches for it today. It will probably take a few weeks to complete, but I have the next few days off of work, so who knows. | 2008-12-24 18:27:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Hi xkappax, I just played your Centralia - A ghost story and i really enjoyed it. It is Great ! I loved the global and consistent atmosphere you and your husband gave to it. There is a lot of fun gameplay elements and it is a real pleasure to discover each section. I loved a lot the customs elements you put in the level such as the spiders 'and the web in the background) and the ghosts (the boss is my favorite). I have only one minor suggestion. I think the overall beauty of the level could be push a little bit higher with a more effective use of the lightings througout the level. It could be also add to the global atmosphere. Finally, it is a very good work! Five stars and a heart! I will play the sequel Fall of Winter and leave my comments back. | 2008-12-26 22:00:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
hey, thanks a lot, Takelow, that's really nice of you to say! We actually had a very hard time with the lighting of that level. I personally like our original darker version better, but a lot of people were having trouble seeing it on certain televisions. That level was our first, and I understand a lot more about lighting now. I hope that my newly found knowledge will be able to help me in future levels. | 2008-12-26 22:32:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Hmmm, I really want to play Centralia but I'm looking at your published levels list and can't seem to find it :S But I did play the fall of winter! I love the art style of the characters; santa, the autumn / winter spirits, the ghosts you run into inbetween, etc. The platforming is also good fun, and the boss fight is cool! I'll have to try to play Centralia later, it looks very good! | 2009-01-04 17:50:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I've reviewed this level on GameFAQS, its a great level. Its well designed and great fun to play. I'll post the review in... Centralia - A Ghost Story by Catiers I know its been reviewed a fair few times now, but to honest, and rather shamefully, I've never played it :-O I really enjoyed it. I wish I'd have played it earlier, because some of the mechanics and things have been used to death now a few months into the release, like the swinging on a cloth ball over parts. Its definetly no fault of the creators, more my lazyness in never playing it. Its all completely well designed and done. The look is great and consistent, original plaforming elements and enemies which always shows effort. I noticed some dissolve on show in a spot, but to be honest here, I'm nitpicking to actually find fault because its flawless looks wise. The boss fight was well done, it got me down to my last life, it was rather tense trying to get that last brain, my wife was laughing on the couch at my rising off my seat and shouting NO when i missed it three times in a row. Also, the disco part at the end made us both smile. A nice finish. **** left in game, I cant remember the tag!! | 2009-01-04 17:57:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
*bangs head* Silly me, now that I've been pointed in the right direction to find Centralia I'll leave some comments Again, very good level and character design. It's hard to make a level that both plays well and looks good, but you two make a great team at achieving it. | 2009-01-04 18:41:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
thanks ^_^ ... too bad most of the time we want to rip each others heads off when working on levels together. lol. and, Grantos, I keep forgetting to fix that dissolve material that's showing in centralia! ARGH! I swear I'll do it this week, cause it's driving me nuts too! | 2009-01-04 19:04:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Hey, just wanted to pop in and show my support! As I've said before (I'm probably starting to sound like an automated message at this point) these levels are a bit tame for me, but they are very well done and Fall of Winter makes me laugh still! You guys have a great visual style and the levels you make are very much in the spirit of the game! Keep up the good work! (when is crystal caves going to be done? I keep playing the half built section. Looks amazing!) | 2009-01-09 19:06:00 Author: Dimo1138 Posts: 179 |
Hey, Dimo, thanks a lot. And yes, our levels are tame. You have your hard levels, like Dimo's, and then you have your not so hard levels like ours. And still I get comments like" I died a million times, this level is so hard" ... go figure | 2009-01-10 19:00:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Love your maps that you and Larry put together Kappa. Centralia and Fall of Winter. I've seen you on every forum but haven't been able to post and tell you that your maps are great. I even checked out your Kappacino site. Like all the LBP stuff you got going on over there. Keep it up yo! I hear ya on the "LBP is destroying me." Ever since this game came out, I haven't gotten a good night's sleep. **** LBP!! | 2009-01-10 20:37:00 Author: d BAG Posts: 17 |
I like to keep mine at least at a moderate difficultly. It means players can get right through and see all of the hard work, no matter the skill. I've quit out of many levels due to fustration at a hard section, no matter how good it looked. | 2009-01-10 20:38:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
thanks, d Bag. It's really nice to hear that people are enjoying our levels. Makes all the hard work and sleepless nights worth it. And I'm glad you liked the stuff I have at the kappacino site. I work really hard on all of that stuff, and I feel sometimes that it goes virtually unnoticed, especially the comic, which is pretty much my life. And Grantos, I think I tend to agree with you. I have seen levels that were absolutely GORGEOUS that were virtually unplayable because of how hard they were. I remember I almost quit out of "DISTRESS IN THE OCEAN" because of this (the squid part) but I'm glad I didn't, because the rest of that level is really good. Oh, and Dimo, as far as the crystal cave level goes, I've decided to put that one on hold for a little bit. My game keeps erasing itself and I'm just so scared I'm going to lose it. Also, the level keeps randomly turning to gas for no good reason. I will definitely go back to it, because I said in the beginning of lbp that all i wanted to do was a ghost level and a crystal cave level, and i stand by that. again, to everyone, thanks for all the kind words about these levels. I've also got another level called "What's The Matter" that is not really a serious level, but it's kinda goofy and you might enjoy it. | 2009-01-10 21:51:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Ah I played Centralia yesterday, I wasn't sure if it was yours... this is a great level. I love the part at the end where you dance for no reason, that made me literally laugh out loud... great scope, fun dialogue, lots of details, just the right level of challenge, and all kinds of cool custom objects. I tried both versions, and for some reason I like the lighter version better, even the darker one is more realistic. You really have a knack for balancing the challenge and fun in LBP, the simplicity and the artistic... | 2009-01-10 22:19:00 Author: Unknown User |
I already posted this on your profile, but I'll just leave some feedback here aswell I loved the story in both your levels and the platforming sections were polished to perfection. I can't wait to play your next level ^_^ | 2009-01-10 22:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
thank you so much ^_^ ... I have a problem of not being able to be serious for more than five minutes. I start out a project that is supposed to be serious, and then I decide "you know what this ghost level needs? A random dance party at the end" And that's that. lol. The only reason the lighter version of that level even exists is because we got some pretty mean comments. I like the atmosphere of the darker version better, but I understand that people with darker displays had to turn off their "super tv technology" to play it. OF course I get that occasional "you suck" comment as well, but I delete those usually.lol. the reason we are able to balance the artistic aspects and the challenge and fun is because larry and i are two completely different people. he's the math and science and physics guy who makes the game mechanics and i'm the "make the level look pretty" person. anyway, thanks again for the comments. And I'm sorry I keep replying to everything so quickly. I swear I have a life. It's just snowing here a lot and I can't really go out! oh, and creative, thanks for your kind words as well! | 2009-01-10 22:28:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |

Oh yeah, I forgot that it said Sara and Larry at the end of the level. Sorry. I like the sillyness of it... I wish I could bring more of that to some of my levels, and I try. This one reminded me of old-school Scooby Doo which is great Don't worry about replying too quick, I'm the last person to rag on anybody else for playing games, getting online, and staying home - I'm way past my "party every night" days lol | 2009-01-10 22:32:00 Author: Unknown User |
Fall of Winter I did mostly by myself. I had the entire week of thanksgiving off of work and I had nothing to do. Couple that with Little Big Planet still being relatively new, and it was a dangerous combination. Larry helped me build the vehicles and he "proofread" that level to make sure that people didn't get stuck in places or explode. or both. it is nice to have someone to help though. I actually have a few friends who are good at level design, because we had all worked on an RPG a few years ago. It never got finished, but we gained valuable knowledge for the future. My friend Patrick (VMethos) is one of those people who helps me, and he's just AMAZING at level design. When his level is done, I'll be promoting it in the "Recommend a Level" area, simply because it is one of the nicest, if not the nicest level I've ever seen. He's been working on it since the game came out and its' still not done, to give you some indication of how much work has gone into it. Anyway, I should probably go and try to brave this bad, snowy weather. Otherwise I might stay on here all night. | 2009-01-10 22:38:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Hey I played this a few days ago, great level. I got the key for the darker version. I havent played it yet but it sounds like it was a good idea because the lighter version is one of the darker levels I have seen around. Not to much so, thats why it was a good move. Hope that made any sense at all. I think I gave it 5 stars, either 4 or 5. | 2009-01-18 20:56:00 Author: Hexagohn Posts: 335 |
thanks! the reason locked the darker version was because people with darker displays were having a really hard time seeing it. the unlocked version looks way too light on our screen, but we wanted everyone to be able to enjoy it. | 2009-01-18 21:19:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
I'm an old hand at these levels, and they've always been some of my favorites. Actually, Centralia I think was THE first really good level I played that I discovered online. Before that, it was nothing but "cool levels", and playing whatever people posted on gamefaqs. Then beethy came around and did the very first massive review thread, and yours was his first must-play. Got you a lot of plays early on, from what I remember. Fall of Winter's also one of my favorites, I'm a big fan of seasonal stuff - And judging by the little snippets of autumn that we see in your video for Crashing Down, I really wouldn't mind seeing a whole Autumn level. Winter's Revenge, perhaps. "This Fall... Vacation's over." | 2009-01-19 04:21:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |
I havent tried the Fall of winter level, but I did play Centralia. I would say I enjoyed it quite a bit, though it wasnt really scary, but rather just interesting and fun. I particularly liked the spider web jump part, thought it was unique. Only improvement I can think of is to make some unique enemies for it, rather than the ghosts, though the last boss was fun. Anywho, I enjoyed your level, and am going to go try the fall of winter check out my temple level | 2009-01-19 06:25:00 Author: pyrimidhead Posts: 45 |
teebonesy! Glad you made it here! Teebonesy's levels are really good and everyone should check them out! Thanks for your kind words though, you've been so good to me through this whole emotional rollercoaster that is littlebigplanet. and pyrimidhead, centralia started out just like everything else I do. It started out as a serious level that my husband began and ended up derailing, becoming goofy, and getting infested with crystals and ghosts. If you read my comics, you can see the same thing has happened. It seems to be a trend with me ... Actually, we had a lot of different enemies we wanted to use, including this HILARIOUS looking witch, but the thermometer is really pushing it in that level, so we had to take a bunch out. There was also a very weird and scary skull that had to be cut from the final. We ended up just keeping the ghosts, blood specter, that weird thing that's under the ghosts in the beginning part, and those pumpkins. oh, and teebonesy, that autumn scene in the crashing down video is from an upcoming level if I ever finish it. ^_^ (i love the autumn) anyway, thanks again for all your kind words on these levels! | 2009-01-19 13:18:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
oh, and teebonesy, that autumn scene in the crashing down video is from an upcoming level if I ever finish it. ^_^ (i love the autumn) Oh LAWDY. I can't WAIT to play it. I have a personal obsession with Autumn. I think it comes from being brought up in Texas. The long, painful summer comes to an end, and an eerie change blows into town. Blustery nights, leaves everywhere, the freaking BIRDS on the power lines, the air cools down to room-temperature, so there's a feeling of being indoors even when you're outside. Season-themed levels in videogames have traditionally been my favorite. Anyone here remember Banjo-Kazooie 1? The woods level, with the 4 seasons. Genius. One of my favorite all-time videogame levels. Of course, me being me, I spent most of my time in the autumn one. It occurs to me now that a daring LBP entrepreneur could utilize that idea for a spectacular level - You essentially spend the entire level in the same area, going around the same places 4 times, but each of the 4 seasons affects things differently and allows you to get to new places you can't reach in other seasons. eg, snow piles up which you can climb, there's more water in the spring which is frozen in winter and dried up in summer, etc. Amazingly difficult challenge to get it all working, and there's no way I'm going to tackle it, but hey, maybe this is a post for the ideas board? Anyway, I'm thrilled to hear that that's actually in a (possibly) upcoming level! | 2009-01-19 13:45:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |
Teebonesy, I'd be glad to show you the autumn level anytime you're around. I feel like I'll never finish it. Centralia and Fall of Winter took so much out of me. But you know all that already. Anyway, in other news, I got a new, darker television this weekend, and Centralia was still very much playable for me, so I have no idea what sort of "super tv technology" was making the darker version so unplayable for some people! I guess some tv's are just really dark or don't have gamma settings. Oh well | 2009-01-26 17:42:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |

I guess some tv's are just really dark or don't have gamma settings. Oh well Some people just have no idea how to use the remote, and since this game is mostly bright all the time it doesn't ask you for the mandatory "adjust your settings til the lines disappear" whatever message like survival horror and hooters and other games usually do. So they go from running on a piece of bright green sponge in broad daylight jumping on dark matter blocks (played that level btw lol the snake made me laugh hysterically) and grabbing rocket powered skateboards to running around in the dark near spikes... I'm surprised they ever made it past Chapter 3 in the story mode | 2009-01-26 18:15:00 Author: Unknown User |
Played both of these last night and wow, these were a lot of fun. Great mechanics, non-frustrating gameplay and some GREAT original dialog (I had a long chuckle when I saw the cow in the MM background say "I'm just part of the backgroud...." or something like that) | 2009-01-27 14:49:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
yeah, it just worked out that that bear was just right out in the open in that part of the level, so I had him say something. My friends and I always commented on how ridiculous and out of place he was in that winter background! thanks for the kind words everyone, and I have added a new level to the fray, even though it's not a serious level... here it is: PSN - xkappax Level - What's the Matter? (disclaimer: not a serious level) Location - by california It's a really goofy level that was made using the cow glitch. It's about dark matter turning on it's creator. It's not meant to be taken seriously, but it's just made for a good laugh. Hope you all enjoy it. ^-^ | 2009-01-27 17:53:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
I played that the other night, actually. Like I said, it was hilarious, and made me long for a glitch I never even knew about til it was gone. The snake and his treasure are classic. The platforming was really fun, and the whole concept of it was so well done. It's arguably the only time I've ever seen dark matter look good. The first few minutes with the knocks against certain notorious level designs was a great start. | 2009-01-27 18:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
Okay, seriously - I didn't know about the cow glitch also until it was gone and I have a REALLY REALLY good reason to use it. Did you revert your PS3 back to before the glitch was fixed, or did you build that part of the level before it was fixed? | 2009-01-27 18:39:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
the stuff in What's The Matter was built on a ps3 that wasn't connected to the internet, so it wasn't patched yet. I finished the whole level offline, then I updated to the newest patch. My level still remained in tact, cow glitch and all, and I uploaded it. It was weird uploading a level like that the day that the glitch was fixed. | 2009-01-31 03:52:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |

Ok, so I finally have a reason for a 2nd PS3 in my living room! Won't my wife be excited.... | 2009-01-31 15:39:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Last night I decided I was going to sit down and finish the first part of my new level. Now I can't stop. I don't know when it's going to be done, but it might take a little while, because if I have my way, it's going to be multi-path. I will update this with pictures from "what's the matter" as soon as I get a moment. I've been falling behind on my comic books that I do, so i've been working hardcore on that. thanks for the kind words on our levels, as always. | 2009-02-05 18:07:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Hey xkappax, how ya been doing> haven't seen you much lately, but from the sounds of it you've been busy, and so have I. Mostly just messing around doing some other things other than LBP (which is pretty rare since release ) anyways just wanted to say "Hi" and let ya know part 3 of the review thread is up on gfaqs. I'll get around to playing your new level soon, sorry I haven't yet, but there's just so many levels, with so much content out there its crazy at times it's a bit overwhelming to decide what level to play next anyways take care and happy gadding!!! | 2009-02-06 03:45:00 Author: Maraz_Matari Posts: 105 |
Thanks Maraz, I have to go and track that thread ... I'll stop by gamefaqs this weekend. I sent you a pm explaining things and where i've been. I have been busy, though ... man. In other news, I just got a piece of very good news, everyone! ZX497 emailed me and told me to go look at LittleXim's levels (which is media molecule's account in LBP) and the Fall of Winter was there! I am so happy! ^-^ | 2009-02-06 19:34:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Went in yesterday and played "What's the Matter". I know you did this level as a joke, but MAN I had fun! The material was great (pun intended), and the writing was hilarious! PROS: One of the best levels EVER to use almost entirely dark matter CONS: No more cow glitch... which is too bad - I would love to see what you could do with a chunk of floating rock. | 2009-02-09 17:21:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
LOL. "the material was great" ... brilliant. I'm a fan of puns. And that was a particularly good one. Thanks for the compliment on "What's The Matter?" That level was interesting for me. It started out as a tutorial level that I did a video of on youtube. Some guy called me out on it and said that the glitch I used was evil and it ruined his girlfriend's level and she couldn't publish it. I felt really bad and I told him I'd see if I could finish that level and publish it and I'd let him know if it worked. So, I did, and it worked. And oddly enough, the day I published that level was the day the glitch was patched out of the game. I had to work in my basement on a playstation that wasn't updated to the next patch to complete it. ^_^ In other news, I've been furiously working on my next level. Larry is building a bunch of the mechanics for me, so I imaging this level will be more like Centralia. In other words, this is a serious level. This will be the last serious level I do for a very long time. I would like to do more silly levels, but the serious levels take a lot out of me. That being said, I hope you guys will all enjoy it when it's done, cause I'm working really hard on this one! I'll keep you updated! | 2009-02-09 17:42:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Finally got around to playing your other levels. You had me confused because I thought you shared your account with Catiers, so I couldn?t find Fall of Winter and What?s the Matter at first. Now, I absolutely loved Fall of Winter, even more than Centralia. The custom content was nice, a lot of different rocket-powrered vehicles and very funny dialogue. The absolutely harmless skating ghosts, the background bear and the Spirit of Winter with her nukes cracked me up ^^ The boss was nice as well, but it looked a lot like your Blood Specter, right down to the way he flailed his arms around >_> What?s the Matter was cool too, but not really as polished as the other two, although I figure it was meant as more of a joke. Anyway, looking forward to whatever you come up with next =D | 2009-02-14 16:34:00 Author: Serpit Posts: 68 |
yeah, what's the matter is supposed to look really ugly. I wanted to make it look like a user level that was just thrown together. Hopefully I achieved that. ^_^ and Catiers is my husband. We started out making levels under his name, and then he started playing other games, and so I took the lead on most of our projects. We're doing another level together right now, and it's actually very c lose to done. He's downstairs working on it right now! ^_^ Thanks for the kind words about the levels, as I've said in your thread, I really like Timeless Village a lot too! Oh, and to everyone: Our new level should be done this week or early next. I hope everyone will enjoy it! ^_^ | 2009-02-15 19:22:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
