Sunset Plateau

Archive: 25 posts

Hey guys, it's been a while, but I got back to creating after the PSN came back up. Like my past levels, this is a platformer maintaining the good old handmade theme LittleBigPlanet is known for. Also like my past creations, I've spent a lot of time and work on this level, but I am pleased with how it turned out. This is also my first level in which I scored the music. Of course, even after all that testing, I'll probably find a few spots that could be smoother and republish every-so-often. I've been pretty busy lately, but I will try to give your levels a go when I get the time. Any positive/negative/constructive feedback is welcome, so I can continue to improve my creations. Thanks a lot!

wow first off the music is fantastic, did it take long to do the music? i love the scenery its really beautiful and the level has a nice quirky yet calming feel to it. the tree stump bouncers are great, plum inc was nicely made and lighted, the flowers by the spikes patch were a lovely touch, the change in the music when it gets dusky along with the overall look is beautiful, the only bad thing i can say about it is i was sad to leave the level, its truly wonderful. i'll return to it again with friends = )

Quequed and played.
love the music and the level was like a big obstical course. best part was the exploding berrys, nice touch i might add with the Tree truck launchers. Whole level fit together perfectly. When the level was ending and the song got more and more slower as the sunset came was amazing as well.

Great level... fun to play, music has been well composed (as all of your other levels I'm playing at the moment). Scenery is absolutely amazing and I love them power charging shooting thingies. Great.

Good Job.

Thanks for the great feedback everyone. I have republished the level fixing a few minor gameplay issues and further smoothing out the level.

Also, I have just published another level in cahoots with Sunset Plateau, The Haunted Mansion - Score Challenge (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=58154-The-Haunted-Mansion-Score-Challenge). Give it a shot if you want.

Again, thanks for the plays, I will continue to smooth out the level, since there remain a few issues I would like to fix, mostly with the flow of the gameplay.

Thanks!

Hi,

Really cool level, loved the use of the layer glitch that just made the level! (I must learn how to perfect that )
Great music also, the whole feel of the level felt like a new world, can I go and live there please?

A kind of farm ville feel with some original ideas, tree stump bounce bins were great as were the helpful rising flowers..
Lots of giveaways too...
I did expect to see the farmer at some point, not sure why..

Overall loved it, you could continue on the Plum inc idea with more levels, it could almost be a franchise!

Cheers.

Just tried your level and it's pretty much perfect in every way

The atmosphere was absolute perfect, and the setting was gorgeous (although I live in an Orchard city so maybe I'm a little biased ) I also loved the music, it felt very natural and the quality was like it was made by MM. Very good use of the background glitch, the visuals were stunning and I really liked how the background and music progressed through the level and by the end had a sort of sleepy feel to it. The platforming elements were great as well. I usually try to offer at least one point of constructive criticism, but I couldn't point out anything wrong with this level, it was just perfect.

If you could offer some feedback on my music level I'd really appreciate it: Enigmatic Music Pack (http://https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=56614-Enigmatic-Music-Pack)

Checked this level out today and enjoyed the charming cute environment.
Nice flowing gameplay, utilising the items from the surrounding environment. The scenery had a naive LBP1 style to it with some added materials such as the flowing river.
The plums were a great idea and enjoyed the barrel boosts, always my favourite gameplay device since Poms Spice & Co. Only gameplay issue I encountered was at the barrel boost directly below the score board, if not careful your sackboy can fall down into a pinch point to the right of it and have to pop to escape.
The only thing I think to add would be some cute insects and maybe some foreground projection to enhance the extra layer depth.

Overall a charming level.

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate the feedback. And WOW, I am humbled at the amount of plays it is getting. I am glad so many people are enjoying it.

I will fix that bug later today, thanks for letting me know about it.

I'll play your levels when I next log in the game as well.

Again, thanks a lot!

Excellent platforming level.

VISUALS:
The layer glitch is unbelievable, especially the sunset, and it is well made with right material choices and corner edit.

SOUND:
The custom music is whimsical and fitted well in this level.

GAMEPLAY:
The platforming is a lot of fun, and the difficulty is great for everyone. There some great ideas like the rolling berries and launching tree stump.

OVERALL:
It's a very fun level with great visuals and gameplay. A yay, heart, and positive review.

Overall, this was a nice laid back trip. Great use of the "extra" layers in the back ground, but the foreground does need some attending to in places. I know how much of a pain the extra layers can be, but there were a few spots in the foreground where you could use it to take your level up another notch. In some places I didn't like that I could see an easy option to take, but because they were "extra" layers I couldn't access them. Maybe you could try blocking those paths in the extra layers to make it more a tad more believable.

I liked the stump shooters a lot. You did a nice job with the sound and effects on that object. I also evidently missed the poison berry sign the first time - lol. All in all, I think if you can clean up the front and add a few more aesthetic details along the way you'll have a nice thing here.

If you get time, please check out my Ka-Boom Basketball or Afro Troll levels in my sig.

*Phew* Just finished playing some of you guys' levels, they were all great! I'll try to play the rest of them tomorrow.

I will see if I can add more to the front extra layers, but I'm not sure how much I can do, as the level was full-to-bursting when I finished it. Mainly I kept the front layer free of objects to give the feeling of depth, hide the bottom of the level, and make it easier to see with the angled camera. But I agree, I can definitely add some stuff in more empty areas.

I'll see what I can do tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Hey Jdsfrog great platformer.

Normally levels like this don't do anything for me butthis was a fun play. I liked your music omposition and the background you had made. I especially liked the castle in the background.
The berry ideas were great and i liked the warning sign when you first encountered them. As i was playing this level at certain points it reminded me ofdonkey kong country not sure why but it did so that made me happy.

I couldn't really see anything that needed fixing ecept for maybe a few small elements here and there but nothing that really stood out to say fix me. I really enjoyed the level and would like to see more like this in the future.

If you can please try either my Heavy Calibre Level in my sig or my Deadville Hollow level http://lbp.me/v/z1-39w
Heavy calibre is an action platformer made in LBP 1 and Deadville hollow is a top down zombie level done in the style of dead nation. Please choose whichever suits you best.

I'm truly humbled at the positive reception the level has been getting, this is my first level to get more than 1000 plays!

Thanks to all that have played, and thanks for the feedback, it means a lot to me and I read every bit of it.

This is an absolutely gorgeous level. You stuck to the handmade theme very nicely, and combined with the pleasant, soothing music the level was very relaxing and nice. I particularly like your use of the 3D layers glitch. I enjoy it anytime a creator can make detailed backrounds without slowing down the frame rate. The gameplay was simple and easy platforming, but it fit with the overall mood of the level, which is a definite plus. One of the little details that I liked the most though, was the camera angle and zoom. It's set up in a way that I thought put more of a focus on the visuals, and as I have been saying, that's important in this level.

If you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you would play my level A Nucleotrosity. Just click on the big pink "IT" in my signature.

And huzzah for being spotlighted! I am humbled, and could not have done it without the great feedback people have given me in the past. Thanks everyone.
