Sorry I am sure that 100 people have asked this question, but how does one make stuff like flags, or the snakes from the Mayan Sane Temple... if anyone can please direct me to a post about this type of stuff or reply telling me about it that would be great.

The flags you saw in the MM levels were all ether objects or decorations. The snake in Mayan Sane Temple is an object from the story as well. Neither are completely recreateable.

Thank you. Is there a bending material like the snake? It's not a bending material. It's separated into multiple bodyparts that are connected by rods (I think).

Looks solid though and rubbery... I have no idea. I was more curious about the flags... they should have a cloth tool...

No cloth tool. In fact, I don't think you can put stickers on flags, as decorations can't be stickered. Unless someone knows if there is a flag that is an object, then that cloth display we saw in the GDC 2007 video never made the cut for the final game.

I think it might be an object... It collides with the sackboy although I am not too sure that decorations don't do that normally. The flag I am describing is off a user created tank... it clearly wraps around the sackboy when he is standing behind it. Might just have to wait for someone to elaborate.

The snake in Mayan Sane Temple is an object from the story as well. Neither are completely recreateable. The snake is a series of small body parts bolted together and behaves in much the same way as a length of rope oscillating back and forth. I haven't tried to make him but I don't see any reason why you couldn't make one yourself. Back on topic: you can't make flags but as has been said there are decorations with cloth and fabric that wave in the breeze.

From the looks of the "organic material" objects and decorations, like the snake, scorpion, octopus legs and so on, it looks like there is some special tool that allows you to wrap cloth around objects and hide joints. I don't think it's a player avalaible thing though, but rather MM working with the full 3D engine they would have used to make the game. The same could be said for things like the various sporting balls like golf balls and basketballs. If you look closely, you can see that they are truly round and have depth and shadows to them. It all points to some system that MM can use to make true 3D parts that we cannot do.

So... They DID cheat!!! They said we could recreate their levels. Since they gave us the objects, even though we can't make the objects, they didn't lie.
