Powerups Mm should make

I just thought of some powerupa that Mm could make...

Gravity Boots (Boots that let you walk on walls)
Running Boots (Make your sackboy run X times Faster)
Bouncy Boots (Make your sackboy jump X times higher)
Costume Transformer (Placed by the level creator, if you walk through it it changes your costume for the theme of the level.)
Portal Gun (Acts like the paintinator, Creates a pathway in 3 dimensional space. Come on, everyone wants one)

It'd be cool if we had these powerups in the game. What are your ideas?

Meh... It would not have much purpose
Bouncy Boots (Make your sackboy jump X times higher)
Set Gravity Level to Low and you're done.

You can do a Sackbot and allow the player to control it with a Controller.

Most of the things you proposed are quite useless and can already be done on the game.

I already made a portal gun, but an actual portal gun would be cool.
but there are some ideas in there that I could bring to life myself. drop by my pod sometime.

Portal gun, ftw, but idk, it might be kinda glitchy, might take up a lot of thermo, but it'd be great if they could pull it off.

whole portal costume pack....well, that'd be chell......level series? scuba is to pirates as portal gun would be to portal level series

The problem with the gravity solution is that Sackboy will take longer to descend. While I suppose you could rig a controllinator to a global gravity object and put it on a piece of hologram with a follower so that it triggers low gravity while you hold X and returns gravity to normal when you release it, that would also affect other objects and players in the level. I myself feel most partial to the running boots idea, though the gravity boots also sound good. They would probably require a special material or tweak object to make the orientation logic work. Magnet Material? Magnet Tweakers?

I imagine the Portal Gun would be released with a Portal DLC pack?

I'd rather have gravity-changing global tweakers instead. One could be called "Gravity Direction Tweaker". As the name implies, you could set which direction all objects would fall towards. This way, gravity abilities could be easily integrated into logic systems. I personally wanted this feature ever since LBP 1 came out, and even LBP 2 doesn't have it. That is something that could change. Also, it's impossible to do even with sackbots. The physics and character animations simply don't allow it.2011-06-16 00:50:00

As for other powerups, what about, I think partly previously stated, magnet/gravity boots, I'm thinking like the ones in the Ratchet and Clank series, where Ratchet can climb on those metal tracks? Anyone?

yes, but there are many disadvantages to the Remote control Sackbot, such as no swimming, jetpacks, grappling hooks, etc, but there's things you can do with sackbots, ie fly, double jumping, etc. you can't do with normal sackboy.

how about... magnet boots instead of gravity boots. That away he can like, walk up walls and stuff. makes more sense to me, you can't make sackboy OR sackbots do this with any amount of logic ( within reason. )

And some sort of like, portal thingy that makes sackboy grow or shrink ( without the fancy controllable sackbots. too complicated, takes up space. )

or, maybe a shield generator. you walk through a ring thing, and a shield thing wraps around sackboy and protects him from lethal stuff, for a limited amount of time.

I think it's because the portal gun is much less likely, due to copyright stuff, and thermo and whatnot, i mean, try to imagine the AI behind it, and also other players being jerks, (if playing online) etc, etc, etc.

Portal gun probably won't never come when power-ups really are not from games (paintinator, no did u see that in MGS :O). It would be cool, but I think right now power-ups has really much possibilites and portal gun is pretty simple if you think others and I would little hate if portal gun would be used in non portal level when it kinda makes that level feel Portal too :/.

Magnet boots would be cool. You could walk with them on metals .

And? A Jetpack don't fit within every level theme~
plus you don't have to push X to keep flying or you'll fall slowly like you would with the Wings.

What about a spring-loaded boxing glove gun or arm cannon called the Punchinator? It allows you to hit things from a distance, and is accompanied with a Punch sensor for detecting punches. Or at the very least they could add punching as a new ability by giving Sackboy special punching gloves. You can rapid fire punches by tapping R1, or charge a super punch by first holding then releasing the button.2011-06-18 22:15:00

The costume changer would actually be cooler as aa tool than as a powerup. Forcing players to stich to a costume isn't groovy, and I predict a lot of levels by annoying girls forcing us to change into a kitty costume in order to play it, or some teenage boys making us into some character with hero hair and cartoon eyes. But if a sackbot's costume could be changed along with its behaviour... that could be useful for some movie/cinematic levels. It wouldn't force you to kill off the current sackboy and respawn a new one with the "updated" costume.2011-07-09 23:44:00

It'd be pretty difficult to get away with a portal bullet even. The only way you could likely avoid a lawsuit would be to eliminate any references to the word "portal" whatsoever. Of course, some people have no doubt requested a Portal pack in the past, so maybe the precautions would be unnecessary?

I still want Gravity Boots and Dashinators the most. Climbinators would be a good alternative to Gravity Boots, but I also have to admit that the hands already get a lot of power-ups while the feet have gone without so far.
