Kesakitty Levels....
Archive: 4 posts
Hi well I have loads of ideas for levels, but once I finish a not so complex level, since my mind isnt as sharp or bright, I dont get any plays and sometimes when I do its a bad rating. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I just made a new level for hide n seek, but no one is playing it, and I worked my butt off on it too... I dont get it... Do I need to advertise more or something? is there a place I can go to advertise my somewhat ok levels? I am so confused, how can I ever get my trophies this way and also to have nice kewl levels like everyone else who have like thousands of plays. http://lbp.me/u/Kesakitty | 2011-06-07 21:55:00 Author: Unknown User |
To be completely honest getting noticed in LBP is mostly luck, now I'm not saying a good level won't help. | 2011-06-08 00:19:00 Author: fireblitz95 Posts: 2018 |
Unfortunately, it's really tough to get noticed in the mass of levels out there. You really need something that is either totally unique, has incredible game play mechanics, is visually stunning... or any combination of those things. The chances of you getting noticed for your work are unfortunately very slim. If you are creating to get noticed or for trophies and pins... you are doing it for the wrong reasons. Creating should be about having fun... first and foremost. If your levels are appreciated and gain you some notoriety, that's just icing on the cake! You need to understand that the skills, talent, and knowledge of the game's tools and abilities to make great levels take a very long time for most creators to get a handle on. I myself am an artist in real life, but it took me just about 2 years playing with this game to really understand how best to use the tools within it to be able to create well enough with it to be proud of my own work. The average person is going to take just as long or longer. My advice, stay here on the forum and look at all sorts of threads to see what others are talking about and creating... even topics you don't think you might be interested in (these topics often spark new ideas for me personally, or give me hints at how to go about creating something I'm working on in a better way than I was). You should also check out the Level Showcase F4F section of the forum. There, you can post pictures, a description, and even a link to your level and have people critique it for you and give you ideas on how to improve it here and there. F4F stands for Feedback for Feedback, where you offer to play other people's levels in return for them doing the same for you and giving feedback for each other. Hope that helps, and don't give up... no matter how frustrating it seems at times. Like it says in my SIG, if you aren't having fun... you're doing it wrong. | 2011-06-08 05:21:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
Thank you for all your advise, I will check that f4f out and see what ppl can give me advise on in my levels. Ya I am not creating for the trophie, I am creating for fun and to be noticed slightly just not going well, I need more talent in the coding field of lbp, but I am slowly getting better. Thnx again | 2011-06-08 15:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
