Hoooraay!! Sly has been one of my favorite characters for a long time now, I'm very happy about this.

I just hope it's more along the lines of Sly 2, Sly 3 was too easy and I felt the game had no real plot. Sly 2 had betrayals, plot twists, the whole package. Anyone else feel Sly 3 was dumbed down a bit?

Maybe a little bit.
But you're right about Sly 2 being better than 3.

The thing is, Sanzaru games is making this, with a few tips from Sucker Punch.

And the Sly Collection (made by Sanzaru) wasn't received positively (glitches or something.) It's a little worrisome to me. :/

Well, I can understand that, with Sucker Punch working on inFamous. I never got the Sly Collection, (I already had all 3) so I wouldn't know how well Sanzaru Games did on it.2011-06-07 20:40:00

Apparently, sync issues, sound issues, and cutting videos that didn't need to be cut.

I don't remember any of that from my playthrough, but that was a while ago, so I forgot.

The Sly Collection is for PS3. And I don't know exactly when Sly 4 will be released, it might be early 2012 or it might be much later.

Either way the Sly Collection is a great deal (I think it's around $30?) and the three games have a really nice variety of gameplay, imo.

I am so happy about this. I'm also glad that Sanzaru is developing it. Should make it feel fresh, since they've started out from scratch, just like with the Sly Collection. No help from Sucker Punch. Areas will be more vertical and contain more things to explore. They're also talking about some suit system that I don't really like yet.

Yeeeeeah, I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the Sly Collection. Probably just some nostalgic reviewer who couldn't put his memories out of the equation. The Sly Collection plays well, no glitches or anything.

I'd call this a case of haters gonna hate, myth busted.

I'm SUPER excited for this, by the way.

They DID say the characters have grown a bit since the last game, and that Sly would look more mature, so I'm not really surprised by his appearance.

That's what the interviewer said, the interviewee said it would kick off right after the end of the third, so they can't have grown that much.

At least I hope not.

I think what they meant when they said "picking up from the last game", they meant event-wise, not time-wise. As in, it might have been a while that they'd been living that 'happily ever' thing they mentioned.

Still, you have to admit Sly's appearance isn't exactly your number one choice if you were given one.

To be honest, I'm kind of disappointed in the style of visuals these guys have decided to use. I get the whole HD move they're trying to push here, since the PS3 is pretty much built for that, but Sly Cooper was always cartoon-themed to me. Owning all PS2 titles since release, they were possibly one of the rarest examples of how even a cartoony game can be so fun. But after watching that gameplay, Sly not only looks ugly compared to his original self, but the whole game looks too... weird.

Sorry for not explaining it as I hoped I would. It's kind of hard being that my opinion is also based on my feelings towards this series.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on the HD thing. In some parts you can still see the cartoony lines that made it so unique back on the PS2, but it's not enough to keep that style prominent in the game. It just doesn't look like comic-booky enough. I think they did a good job with the fire effects though, at around 3:19 in the video.
I think Sly's colors are too dark and saturated. I'm not too crazy for the fluorescent yellow cane, I was hoping it'd look more rusted/metallic like in Playstation Move Heroes (disregarding everything else about his design in PSMH, of course). And yeah, his face is a little weird. Hopefully they have more tweaking to do before release.
The gameplay looks like classic Sly, though, I'm still looking forward to it.

Ah, that makes sense. I wonder how Carmelita will fit into all this, with her hooking up with Sly after he faked amnesia. Thinking about it, the storyline of Sly is a lot like a bad soap opera.

What about the gameplay, from that clip it seems Sly has a more varied arsenal of combat moves, or at least different ones from previous games. I really like the idea of a wide set of attacks, I kinda prefer attacking guards when I can. 2011-06-09 06:49:00

Oh boy...Didn't even think about that. Personally, I thought Carmelita's voice in the first game was fine. I didn't really like it in the third game at all.

Why do great developers ditch the games they created, to critical acclaim?

Insomniac with Spyro. Naughty Dog with Crash and Jak & Daxter. Surely it's a matter of time before Ratchet gets the chop!

I appreciate the fact that perhaps, they want to move onto other projects, but they shouldn't sell the francises to other developers (as we've seen what's happened before).

Just getting me a little worried...

They didn't sell it - Sly Cooper still belongs to Sucker Punch. Sanzaru saw how busy Sucker Punch was, realizing that they won't have time to make another Sly at the moment, and (being huge fans of the series) they got permission from them to make a new Sly game to please the fans, with Sucker Punch overseeing its production. I could be wrong, this is just what I've concluded from the information available.

And for the record, Insomniac sold Spyro because they simply couldn't do any more with the franchise. Instead of letting it die out, they sold it to someone else hoping they would do him well, and went on to create Ratchet and Clank, one of the best platformer/action series on the Playstation 2. Of course, they didn't anticipate Spyro would be continuously sold to new companies and game developers a billion times. I don't know the situation with Naughty Dog since I was never a fan of Jak&Daxter or Crash, so I can't really say anything about that.

Yes, it is true that we are not making Sly 4: Thieves in Time. As you know, we are a one game at a time studio, and all our time has been spent on inFAMOUS 2. Sly 4 needed to come out soon, so it is in good hands with Sanzaru Games... www.sanzaru.com/wp/index.php (http://www.sanzaru.com/wp/index.php)

We are not abandoning the franchise. We have had contact with Sanzaru and are giving as many pointers as they seek.

I'll try to keep this as brief as possible.

Naughty Dog:

Crash was owned by Universal from day one.
Universal were horrible to work with
Naughty Dog were under contract to make 3 games for Universal (Crash 1-3)
They were working on a generic kart racer and got Sony to licence the Crash IP from Universal (CTR)
Sony Bought Naughty Dog all subsequent IP belong to Sony automatically
Naughy Dogs co founders leave during the development Jak X
Uncharted studios main focus.

See http://all-things-andy-gavin.com/2011/02/02/making-crash-bandicoot-part-1/ for more on Naughty Dogs dealings with Universal (extra snippets in comments)

Insomniac:

Spyro was owned by Universal from day one.
They likely had the same 3 game contract and crap treatment
Insomniac have stayed independant.
Ratchet was owned by Sony from day one.
Resistance was owned by Sony from day one.

Sucker Punch:

Still Independant
Sly was owned by Sony from day one.
Infamous was owned by Sony from day one.

Aww, Im exited for the new Sly game, as I grew up with Sly 1, 2, and 3, but Im sad to see that Suckerpunch isnt making the fourth. It just opens up an uncomfortable window of risk.
Suckerpunch is one of my favourite game companies, and hopefully they have enough time to pitch in and help when needed.

to the people who said it, insomniac and naughty dog didn't sell spyro or crash, they moved from universal studios to working straight for sony, but universal studios still owned the rights to those two ip's. they never owned so they could never sell them2011-06-10 08:24:00

He looks like dimitri's Grandpa..... Yeah

Anyway, I really want some of the characters from sly 3 to come back and be playable. Like the guru, or penelope. But in the interview video, it seems obvious that there isnt a big chance that they will be in the game.

i like how they make the disguises more special by adding special moves to them.
also, now the disguises have special moves ,will they break the gameplay/or have gamebreaking abilities?
this may even defeat the point of playing as murray or bentley...

Not really gamebreaking, if anything, these disguises can be considered glorified gadgets.

The first image screams villain to me. Mostly because of the evil button pushing and that evil look on his face. And the mustache. Definitely, the mustache.

I've always hated Murray, his voice is horrible. Anyway, that scenery looks good. Really looking forward to this!

It's been quite a while since I posted to the PlayStation.Blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/) ? after the busy summer tradeshow schedule we have hunkered down to concentrate on making Sly Cooper: Thieves in Times (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/sly-cooper-thieves-in-time/) the best game of 2012! Over the summer, I spent a lot of time showing our progress on the game and talking about how we are making sure we stay true to the core of the Sly Cooper series ? but now I want to start talking about the NEW things we are bringing to Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (http://us.playstation.com/games-and-media/games/sly-cooper-thieves-in-time-ps3.html).
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6211/6346314819_19de088c89_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/6346314819/)
When we played the old Sly Cooper games on the PS2 (http://us.playstation.com/ps2/), we loved the stories about the Cooper clan ancestors and their various thieving abilities. Something that is really exciting and fun for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is that you can not only travel back in time to meet these ancestors but you will also have the ability to play as the Cooper Clan ancestors! As you proceed through the game each episode you encounter features a new time period with a new playable ancestor. Each new member of the Cooper clan has their own unique and powerful abilities that opens up a whole new range of game play in the huge environments. This is one of the coolest aspects of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time ? meeting these characters, learning more about them, and then getting to experience a whole new set of kick-*** game moves and skills that you have never seen before. Each time a new character in production comes on line and is added to the game, they instantly become my new favorite character of the series!
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6119/6347065548_a3111a0aea_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/6347065548/)
The first ancestor we want to show off is Rioichi Cooper, the master of the Ninja Spire Landing! We were introduced to him back in the original Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus and learned about his cool Ninja ability. Now, when you get to play as Rioichi, you will see how much more powerful the original master?s techniques are. For instance, by focusing his energy Rioichi can execute his Leaping Dragon Technique and span great distances between spires.
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6234/6346314669_49fab514b5_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/6346314669/)
Rioichi, it turns out, is not only an uber-Ninja but is also the inventor of sushi, his famous restaurant providing the perfect cover for a night-stalking ninja thief. We really wanted to explore the character of each of Sly?s ancestors (they are all very different in both ability and personality), and this leads to some very entertaining dialogue as they meet and get to know their descendant and his crew. But of course, once Sly is united with his ancestor he becomes one of the gang, hanging out in the hideout ready to venture out for some Ninja Thieving fun at a moment?s notice.
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6120/6347065464_9537723a5a_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/6347065464/)
Keep your eyes peeled for the December issue of Game Informer magazine (http://www.gameinformer.com/games/sly_cooper_thieves_in_time/b/ps3/archive/2011/11/14/sly-s-ninja-ancestor-joins-the-gang-as-a-playable-character-in-thieves-in-time.aspx), Tim Turi stopped by the studio last month and took a look at Rioichi in action so you can get to read about his impressions of the game there. Anyway, that?s it for now, but don't worry, I will be back soon to talk about new characters and other cool stuff in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time as we head towards the new year!

Can't wait for this game.

I just hope they have more platforming goodness, and less plane battles/ RC racing/ shooting minigames that plagued Sly 2 and 3, mostly 3 :/

Did I say anything about exploring?

And I bought Sly because I wanted a PLATFORMER. Having half the game be minigames is NOT what I paid for. >_>

I bought the Sly collection after a number of years of looking for my original games. I dont think Ive ever found a game quite like this that can keep me entertained for such long periods of time. I really like the new graphics, and how they made each character look like theyve aged a bit. (In reality, it would be likely that Bently would live 50 years longer than Sly or Murray! )
As Rock said, Sly 3 needed more platforming moments, which made it a little worse than the nearly perfect- Sly 2. Lets hope they can get creative with the game enviroments again. I really enjoy visiting the Contessa's prison compound in Sly 2, and I absolutely adored Dr. M's island in Sly 3 (Not sure if thats an actual world area or just a massive single heist).

I also got the Sly Collection, and immediately fell in love with the series. For me the first Sly was the best, as it had the most actual platforming and it was slightly challenging at times. Sly 2 and 3 were good, and although I didn't mind the whole "explore the hub world thing" between the missions I would rather have it not there.

I was definitely a little bit skeptical when I heard about the new devs, but seeing those beautiful screenshots really puts me at ease.

Earlier this week, Rey and I visited Foster City-based Sanzaru Games (https://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/sanzaru-games/), the developers of this fall?s Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/sly-cooper-thieves-in-time/). As the first original PS3 (https://blog.us.playstation.com/category/ps3/) entry in the classic PS2 thieving series, and the first to be developed outside of Sucker Punch Studios (https://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/sucker-punch/), Thieves in Time represents a long-awaited return to form as well as a natural entry point for series newcomers.
Where Sly 2 (http://us.playstation.com/games-and-media/games/sly-2-band-of-thieves-ps2.html) and Sly 3 (http://us.playstation.com/games-and-media/games/sly-3-honor-among-thieves-ps2.html) let you slip into the roles of Sly?s partners in crime, Thieves in Time expands upon that concept by granting you control of Sly?s infamous ancestors ? the Cooper Clan members named in the hallowed pages of the Thievius Racoonus (http://slycooper.wikia.com/wiki/Thievius_Raccoonus). In one chapter set in ancient Japan, I played as Rioichi, Sly?s sushi-slinging ninja ancestor. Slinking past sleeping guards while searching for a special set of sushi knives, I used Rioichi?s Leaping Dragon ability to soar through laser fences and other high-tech traps designed to derail the Cooper Clan?s devious destiny. Other playable ancestors, including the medieval knight Sir Galleth Cooper, promise to bring more specialized skills to Sly?s moveset. In our chat, Sanzaru President Glen Egan (http://blog.us.playstation.com/author/gegan/) was careful to point out that the playable characters are designed to expand upon Sly?s stealthy skillset, not subtract from it.
http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6119/6347065548_a3111a0aea_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/6347065548/)
Thieves in Time further advances the series? sneaky formula through collectible Costumes that grant Sly new powers. The Archer costume fires an arrow-tipped tightrope that bridges the gap to otherwise inaccessible new locations. Costumes will also come in handy if you set out to find all the hidden Clue Bottles and myriad collectible items scattered throughout the game?s sprawling levels. Like Sly 2 and Sly 3, Thieves in Time?s open-world design gives you the freedom to splinter off on side quests or re-explore old areas. Sanzaru has even added a handy Compass that points out your next goal ? a thoughtful addition, especially given the sheer size and increased verticality of the new environments.
As always, Sly is more agile than other would-be platformer heroes. Rather than line up each jump perfectly, you can leap into the air and tap Circle to land on a platform auto-magically. Though I badly bungled my first platform jumping exercise, within minutes I was zipping through a withering series of jumps at top speed ? an exhilarating, empowering feeling, especially if you?ve ever felt victimized by ponderous platform-jumping segments in other games.

I honestly can not wait for Thieves in Time.

If you couldn't tell from my Signatures/Avatar/NAME (kinda...), I really like Sly games.

I finally got the Sly Collection for Christmas off the Playstation Store (Warning, the downloadable version doesn't come with minigames) and I've 100%ed Sly 1 and 2. I even did the Master Thief Sprints on Sly 1, and I got the hidden movie/moves in Sly 2.

I'm kinda bored with Sly 3, but I'll beat it eventually.

Not sure if I liked Sly 1 or 2 more... They were both awesome for different reasons.

I think Thieves in Time (I hate spelling that out all the time. I'd rather abbreviate it, but then...) is probably the game that I'm looking forward to most this year. Well, other than LBP Vita.

Woah. You had your name before we played Sly 2.

Ehh... No.

We got Sly 2 and 3 at the same time one Christmas. I got you Sly 3, and our parents bought us Sly 2.

Then you got Sly 1 for your birthday.

I remember that we played Sly 3 a lot around the time that I made my first account with this name, and...

Why am I posting this on LBPC? I'll just continue this argument in person.

How would you like to see your design become part of a real video game?
Well, now you can, thanks to the Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (http://eu.playstation.com/ps3/games/detail/item419030/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g) competition that will start today, Friday April 20th.
Take a look at this video from Sanzaru?s CEO Glen Egan talking about the competition:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YuAn5BHueE&feature=player_embedded
Exciting isn?t it?
So just to recap: Sly is a sneaky raccoon descendant of a long line of master thieves. In this brand new adventure, he embarks on a mischievous journey with his loyal friends Murray and Bentley.
Here?s a short trailer, just to give you an idea of the mayhem that awaits you?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibKuJ2V4bkw&feature=g-all-u&context=G27f3757FAAAAAAAABAA
During his mission, packed with epic boss battles, dangerous missions and stealthy moves, he will find some precious treasures scattered around. A treasure can be practically anything; from a lamp to a teapot to a precious ring? you name it!
And now we want YOU to free your imagination and create something that you think Sly might want to steal during his mission ? and bring back to his hideout. Remember, as Glen said: no living animals, no weapons (Sly is a pacifist thief, after all) and preferably an object that can be carried on your shoulders.
The mechanic is very simple: draw an object you think could be a great in-game treasure. You can use any computer programme (Photoshop, or good old Paint), or simply paper and pencil (you?ll have to take a picture or scan it, in this case). Then, upload your creation here (http://eu.playstation.com/slycompetition): together with a short description of what that item is.
You don't have to be Picasso! Just draw something simple and original, and use the description to explain clearly what you want it to be.
The best design from each country will be picked by Sanzaru and will win a PS Vita (http://eu.playstation.com/psvita/) and a 16BG Memory Card. But that?s not all! The winners will also gain access to the second round of the competition ? among all local winners, Sanzaru will pick EIGHT final winners that will see their designs transformed into real in-game treasures!
This means that, once the game is out this Autumn, you?ll get the chance to steal your own treasure.
What are you waiting for?
Head over to: eu.playstation.com/slycompetition (http://eu.playstation.com/slycompetition) and submit your treasure!

It’s been too long since I’ve posted to PlayStation.Blog…but soon you’ll see why! We recently joined Spike’s Geoff Keighley on the latest episode of GTTV tonight to show off some cool new Carmelita gameplay in addition to a very special announcement: Sly Cooper (http://www.slycooper.com/) is coming to PS Vita this fall!
First off, a look at new gameplay. As every Sly fan knows, Sly Cooper and Carmelita Fox have a long and torrid history — a history that’s destined to continue in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/sly-cooper-thieves-in-time/). The game picks up where Sly 3 left off, and Sly is feigning amnesia so he can be with the love of his life, Carmelita. But when he rejoins the Cooper Gang on their time-traveling escapade to restore his family’s legacy, you can be sure Carmelita will quickly become embroiled in their wild adventure.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8027/7218034822_82e5eb7398_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/7218034822/)
Carmelita is radiant on the PS3 (http://blog.us.playstation.com/category/ps3/), and the powerful graphics hardware allowed us to make her much more detailed and expressive than in the past titles on PS2. She is, of course, a fully playable character in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and so we also spent a lot of time evolving her gameplay. We have gone with a more precise over-the-shoulder aiming technique that allows players to lock on the targets quickly and easily. You can see how this can be put to good use in the multi-layered boss battle.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8012/7218034066_5b41e9c9bf_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/7218034066/)
Now for more big news! Ever since we revealed the game, fans have been asking me about PS Vita (http://blog.us.playstation.com/category/ps-vita/), arguing that Sly would be a great game to take on the go. I completely agree…and I can now confirm that Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will be shipping this fall on BOTH the PS3 and the PS Vita, on the same day.
The portable version will contain all the same awesome Sly Cooper action you will find on the PS3 along with cool Vita-specific features that incorporate the front and rear touchscreens and motion controls. The game will also feature cross-save capability, so you’ll be able to save the game from either machine and then pick up right where you left off — whether you’re at home or on the go.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7092/7218033426_b37e31da4f_n.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/7218033426/)http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7079/7218033774_35c3903f3f.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/7218033774/)
So there you go! We are thrilled to finally show Carmelita in action — she’s a big fan favorite and I know everyone will love how she looks and plays in the latest installment of the series — and to be announcing the PS Vita version of the game. It’s been a crazy ride over the last few months, but when we see the results we know it was worth it. So stay tuned for more PS Vita details including date and price coming very soon.

The cross-save functionality is pure win. Being able to play a game on a normal console, continuing where you left off on a handheld whenever you're not home and switching back when you return is pure genius.

The huge fail? You need to buy the game on both consoles to enable the cross-save. What's thee effing point of buying the same game, TWICE?

In that video you posted, you can hear Sly making some comments throughout the level, which we didn't see in the other Sly games. Obviously, dialogue between Sly and Bentley is fine, but the little comments Sly says when he's alone might get a little annoying after a while, idk though. I'm just hoping there's an option to turn Sly's comments off incase it starts to get annoying.

I'm not trying to diss his comments, I think they're fine, but it might get annoying after a while, I just don't know though. Hope that's cleared up.

Maybe he makes a few quips when he's trying out his new abilities for the first time. I trust they won't make him speak every minute during the whole game, or Kevin Miller would lose his voice

I quite like Sly, it's a bummer that he's the less known of the trio of PS2 icons while being the most charismatic. There's a subtlety and smoothness to his personality that few videogame characters have.

Yeah, Bentley's awesome. At first I though he was going to get annoying but soon realized he's the kind of sidekick a hero can count on. Not a big fan of Murray though.

And I hope they finally stick with one actress for Carmelita's voice. In the 3 previous games it's never the same. At first her accent's latin, then it's american, then it's american with a hint of eastern european... It's such a radical change that it's annoying. I liked the first voice the most.

Probably as a background character and maybe as DLC.

But honestly, I don't think any franchise will be getting two characters in the core, disc game. At least, I hope not. I think one per series would be enough for the first, base game.

So I just got the Ratchet and Clank Collection, meaning I just played the demo.

It was the Sir Galleth circus mission they've already shown. Gameplay felt smooth and fun, and it played like Sly Cooper. Mission wasn't too hard, aside from firing the arrows at the bulls-eyes which was a little tricky. Also, I managed to find one hidden mask, and the HUD came up saying there were 60 of them.

I've been watching some video reviews of the game (Both IGN and Game Informer). Both reviewers said that it felt like Sly 4 stuck to what made the Sly series great, and only added to the experience with the new features. They also said that it felt like another full Sly game, not a simple reboot of an old series.
This is encouraging. I had a bit of doubt in my mind that Sanzaru could do a Sly game as well as Sucker punch, but if the reviewers are right, they're passing my expectations with flying colours.

Correction: I believe you mean the 5th . Nonetheless, still earlier than the Europeans. (like with a lot of things, sorry guys )

Since I haven't seen anyone mention it yet here, (except via the trailers) here's the box art.

What do you guys think? I personally love it, but with a lot of PS3 games these days, side ads are a bit of an annoyance. :/

Gosh darn I love the humor they put in this game. Murray's line in that made me laugh quite a bit.

Wow, and I was going to probably just throw the full sixty dollars at them. Thanks Sanzaru (or Sony, or whoever handles pricing for this)

I just got the sly collection this month. Still Playing Sly 1 atm on it. Loving the game even if Sly1's gameplay feels a bit repetitive to me.

I have to say. Sly4 looks epic to me. And I can't wait to get that one too. *mew

Impossible. There are too many things about the game that makes it M.

Well, if you get the PS3 version, you get the Vita version for free! Unless you're really tight on budget and would be completely fine with playing the first Sly game in eight years mainly on a handheld device, I'd pay the extra ten bucks to get it on both consoles.

Yeah, it's this whole Crossbuy promotion Sony's badly advertised. (Just like all the other cool things under the hood) I believe it works for Sly 4, PSASBR, R&C: Full Frontal Assault and GOW: Ascension. (Don't quote me on that last one though..)

There's a new demo on the PS Store now, for Playstation Plus members. In North America anyway. Europe gets it tomorrow. I think.

It's different than the one from the Ratchet and Clank collection.

It'll be available to everyone on PS3 and Vita next week though.

EDIT: I just played the demo and it was awesome! Bentley and Murray actually feel good to play as this time! Definitely pre-ordering this!

It's an unknown number of weeks before the demo hits Euro PSN but now that the demo has been put on general release in NA we can grab it with our alt accounts.

My God! I just played the demo from the American store and I just can't believe how polished this is. It's slick, funny and beautiful to behold. Even the menu systems have nice little touches ... and those trails the coins make is sublime as Sly collects them. This will be my next purchase after Ni No Kuni2013-01-30 04:49:00

Well I'll have to try the demo later but I recently bought the Sly Collection to get back into the series. Though I only played the first game up until now. So far it's a blast to play and definitely considering getting Sly 4 when it comes out.2013-01-30 05:23:00

I would finish the collection before you download the demo. Once you've played this you'll just find it difficult to go back to the HD versions. They're GREAT until you see Sly next gen.

Agreed. I'm still in the first (besides the intro) level but I finally found the 30 clue bottles. Then I gave the PS3 to my brother for him to try.

Once the Vita version is on the store, I can resume.

Well since I beat the Sly Collection (100% and Platinumed all three games) I finally went and tried the demo. I loved it. It takes the best of Sly and keeps everything that made the first three games great with some added bonuses. Man I now hate that I have to wait for awhile to pick this game up, but with money being tight have to make sacrifices. Oh well the wait at least I know will be well worth it for an awesome looking game. At first I thought I would hate the character new designs but they are actually pretty neat the more I look at them.2013-02-07 01:55:00

Yeah, though I'd suggest getting the HD Collection first. Pretty cheap by now, and might as well play it all in order.

Anyway, I just beat it. Won't say anything due to spoilers, but... yeah.

No, the Pirate thing was done in the third game so they didn't want to repeat themselves.

Theory concerning a little easter egg in the game:

So, you all know Clockwerk can be seen in all five time zones, watching the Cooper line throughout history.

Now, this hits a plot hole in Act 3, when Clockwerk is watching over Bob, despite the Cooper line not having been established yet. And what could an owl possibly have against a caveman? What could a caveman possibly steal?

The only thing Bob steals... is pterodactyl eggs.

So why would Clockwerk be so angry Bob is stealing pterodactyl eggs? Well, there's only one reason that makes sense... As we all know, Clockwerk is an organic creature enthused with robot parts. Naturally, we've assumed that he's actually an owl.

But must it be so? Could it be that Clockwerk is ACTUALLY a Pterodactyl mother, so angry at Bob for stealing her eggs to feast on her young that she turns herself into a robotic death to kill Bob's descendant twelve thousand years later?

The answer... is no.

Oh my god I loved this game SO much. The voice acting and personalities of all the characters were such a joy to experience again after all these years. Sanzaru truly has proven their worth and I can trust them for sure with the Sly Cooper series if they decide to take it on from here.

What do you all think about Sanzaru's performance?

Although I wish they didn't leave us in the same **** spot as the ending of Sly 3 again with that ending... :/

The ending of 3 was an actual ending- there were no plans or a sequel, and thus the story was wrapped up in there, with a throwaway line hinting at a sequel. Not really the same as this ending, which was pretty much built for a fifth game, so not sure where you're going with that...?

Anyway, hope the fifth game revolves around Clockwerk, or at least has him as more than just Easter Eggs. Penelope will surely return, though I doubt as THE main villain.
