hello, does anyone know how to make ziplines? or where you collect the tools to do this? if you know please can you share?! spank you Well, I haven't built one personally, but I imagine it's a case of having a "line" in one of the 3 player dimensions, then an object above and an object below that is grippable. Connect the two moving pieces with thin material and it should all work in theory. By the way, I think you might have meant to say "thank you". :o | 2008-12-09 12:29:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
There's one on one of the Batman levels - it's basically a long stick of glass with a handle of sorts attached to it that you grab and it slides down the glass. Like this: ......__ ===|=|========================================= .......| .......0 (ignore the dots, it didn't like spaces) If you make the handle so there's a bit of glass or something that sits on top and is attached to the actual grabbable bit by a thin layer, it should work quite nicely. Obviously you'd need to put this at an angle or attach a rocket and a grab switch. | 2008-12-09 16:04:00 Author: AtheistSeaOtter Posts: 54 |
thanks for the info. sounds easy enough. cheers | 2008-12-10 07:59:00 Author: i.am.sackboy Posts: 14 |
As the sea otter said, you can use glass, Better still would be the ice as it has less drag on it (= | 2008-12-10 14:44:00 Author: Mutant_Tractor Posts: 116 |
i made one a while back and only recently noticed that i was able to climb back up it. an odd bit of sack physics. the kicking he does with his legs was enough to counteract the lack of friction and gravity created by the glass and downward slope and i could pull the handle back UP the inclined ramp of glass. perhaps increasing the angle would solve this 'problem' or perhaps using a wheel to hook your handle onto the glass ramp rather than a solid rod of glass. i don't know, but watch out for the player being able to shimmy back up your zip-line when you playtest | 2008-12-13 13:19:00 Author: Conall-Star Posts: 157 |
I know this is a old thread. I just thought people might want to know a easy way of making a zipline. In my opinion the easiest way to build a zipline is to have two winches connecting to the left and right side of a grabable block. Then put two Grab Switches on the block, set them both to directional and one of them to inverted. So like this: |∞∞∞∞∞[GS/GS(i)]∞∞∞∞∞| ∞ = winch [] = block GS = Grab Switch GS(i) = Inverted Grab Switch Some month ago I saw someone doing it with a rather complex logic mechanisms. The above mentioned way is much easier and works just as well. | 2009-05-28 20:36:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Since cornish yarg you can invert chains so the second grab switch is unnecessary. | 2009-05-28 21:07:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Oh. Well, that's even easier then. ^.^ | 2009-05-28 21:16:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
