Spotlight toggle in movie camera mode

Archive: 5 posts

Hi fellow LBP'ers!
I've got a simple yet annoying problem... I have a scene where the game enters 'movie camera' when in proximity to a sackbot, and the sackbot speaks - this also triggers a spotlight when the movie starts - works a treat. However my problem is, I can't find a way to toggle the spotlight off!

On my sackbot I have...

<Player Sensor>

Movie Camera

Spotlight

Magic Mouth ---> Spotlight

So the goal here is to flick the spotlight on when the movie starts, have the sackbot speak and then after speaking, flick the spotlight off. I've tried a few other things, involving timers and such - but can't get it, I know there is something far simpler here I am missing!

Cheers guys!

what kind of magic mouth are you using initially? with a speech bubble, sequenced, subtitled? it might help a little in the answer. I thought of maybe using a blank 2nd magic mouth to reset a one-shot on the spotlight, but not sure of your exact setup If you are sequenced then its very easily done using a game sequencer, but it depends on how much control you want the player to have over the dialogue i suppose.2011-06-06 12:21:00

Thanks for the reply, I will try using a sequencer as this little cutscene could use it well - will reply with result, and if no go - will take a screenshot of the circuit I currently have set up.
Cheers!

As Rialrees said, a sequencer is definitely the way to go here. Just place a battery on it and hook the battery to the spotlight. The light will stay on for as long as the battery is stretched. You can place your magic mouth and movie cam on the same sequencer. If you didn't already know, you can use up/down to stretch or narrow the length of any tool placed on a sequencer.2011-06-06 14:30:00
