City of Disillusion - Part 1

Archive: 7 posts

In this city, the movers and shakers scramble to be on top and it's the wise-guys that make the bill. Time to fight your way through this crazy steel n' concrete jungle.

I started this level on the first LittleBigPlanet and when LBP2 came out I just had a few bug-fixes to work out. Then I left it for a couple of months while I worked on other projects. Recently those have come to a halt so I went back to this one. It doesn't have any of the new LBP2 features but it worked, I was happy with it and I didn't want to run the risk of breaking it just to have the new features. The next part is being made with LBP2 so new features will be there in Part 2.

Funnilly enough that was the main inspiration. I assume you are a fellow MuseHead?

And seeing as this is F4F I'll queue your Baaarmy Herding level.

Yeah In the past i've tried to create a level inspired by the knights of cydonia music video, but i couldn't capture the epicness of it.2011-06-05 18:13:00

Sounds great, I'll check it out tonight and feedback.
Check out my F4F level: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=57680-SNOW-WHITE-Noire
Guaranteed to make anyone feel disillusioned and slightly depressed.

Great level mate. Great art style and makes good use of the paintinator.
As far as feedback goes, the catapult near the beginning of the level sometimes didn't fling me far enough and i ended up getting gassed or burnt. Maybe if you replaced the existing catapult with a bounce pad?

Hey thanks for playing my level, i left a short review but i'll give some serious feedback here.

The potential of this level is phenomenal! the design and atmosphere, the use of lighting and cameras is very good.

To criticise (constructively):
sackboys work much better as storymode characters, or REALLY intricately designed unique people, cut outs and such cheapen what is essentially a well told story.

The gas at the end stopped me from getting the DA CHOPPA, which was really annoying as i'd come that far

Because of the dark atmosphere, direction has to be obvious, i had no clue to go down towards the bounce pad nead the crushing fire.
I also had no direction to go inside a layer where the lamps were behind the fire, try turning up the brightness on those lamps so i can see the depth of layer there

The shooter aspect was fun (except ofc what i mentioned about the villain design) but the mechanics great.
And the intro video really drew me in! (thought i would mention this as i've just done one..and their a *********)

Also adding more platforming sections would really bring in more people, some grapple hook or bounce pad rooms to add a bit of a challenge

Great level overall, a bit of tweaking and it will be a gem.
Good luck in the future, dont stop!
