Score Giver Problem
Archive: 11 posts
I'm having some trouble with the Score Giver Here it is in a video format http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298QEmObCiQ basically, I don't want the "10's" to show up... so I change the display over player to no, yet it still shows up Am I doing something wrong here? | 2011-06-05 04:14:00 Author: Wolf Posts: 35 |
Mmmm, someone's welcome to correct me on this, but I'm pretty certain that there is always a score 'report' to deal with, in some fashion. That's hard-wired into the game. The setting that you described gives you the means to workaround this issue, visually, however. When "Display Over Player" is No, it is the score producer that receives the number popup. The score producer is a Score Giver itself, or a containing microchip. You can stuff such a thing in a corner of the map, so that when it's giving score, it's no-where near where the camera is. This effectively gets rid of the visual effect. Be sure to use really long wires, or "wireless" (tag + tagSensor at max range) technology! | 2011-06-05 10:40:00 Author: The Manx Turtle Posts: 50 |

The issue was that, even when he would uncheck the Display Over Player Setting, it would still display over the Sackboy. You can clearly see it in the video attached. I am actually having this problem myself. You may want to post about it here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=44678-Lbp2-bugs-list), in our forum's LBP2 Bugs List. | 2011-06-05 23:48:00 Author: galacemiguel Posts: 179 |
I think it just looks that way due to the score giver being on the DCS err controlanator (i.e exactly where the player is anyway). What Manx is suggesting as a workaround should work fine. | 2011-06-06 00:01:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
true story. the score giver will give points relative to where it's located if it doesn't register over the player. it might still show up on the edge of the screen but that might be something you will have to live with. | 2011-06-06 01:23:00 Author: Unknown User |

That's right, it seems I didn't analyze it perfectly well either, but I actually am having the same issue myself and my score giver is nowhere near the player. Anyone know how to fix this? | 2011-06-06 07:09:00 Author: galacemiguel Posts: 179 |

I'm pretty sure scores will reliably show up on the screen no matter what you do to avoid them. Perhaps by placing a foreground material around the edge and placing the score giver far away may 'hide' the popup, but it'd be cumbersome. What I've done to completely avoid the entire LBP score issue is just to simply make my own. It's fairly complicated if you're new to logic, but entirely possible. If interested, the 'health/damage system' in my sig can also be used to make a cash system (and is actually better at it than at being a health system, lol). The model I give away is a replica of the one I'm using in my level. Range 1-10000 on a digit display. | 2011-06-07 00:12:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
I've removed the score giver from the controllinator and now It appears in the corner of the screen. I can live with that but am wondering if there is a way to disable the notification completely. | 2011-06-08 02:06:00 Author: Wolf Posts: 35 |
I kinda doubt now I think on it.. I was originally thinking that if they were way off screen it would be out of sight. Oh well... Well.. one thought I just had is match that color and brightness with some holo material where it is showing up. It might still show faintly like a ghost. Of course now you have this semi bright light panel in the corner for some nutty reason. lol However even with that, there still might be a way to make it work into your design a bit. | 2011-06-08 03:39:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
