Hey, My level is finally finished and before I publish it, I want to make sure my level icon is eye catching. I need to know a few things, what is a good way to get exact dimensions of the level circle? For instance how does Jayhawk_er get a rim around this (http://lbp.me/v/ydnzdk) level icon? It fits perfectly and it is a perfect level icon in my opinion. And what is the best lighting and other settings needed for optimum quality? Thanks, probally pretty nooby questions but level icons are really not my strong point.

Trial and error is my best guess. I took 20 photos before I got one I liked. Once you get the right positioning on the icon, it's just a matter of tweaking the settings until it looks best. I'm sure there's a method somewhere, but I'm sure it depends on the colours/organization of your icon, so no method would be perfect.

Here's a guide for color references: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v128/katicksupplies/squidoo/colour-meanings.jpg As an example, orange will be more attractive to people who will want to have fun in a level. So it depends on what kind of people you'll want to attract into your level. For the perfect rim of fire, I think it's mostly trial and error. Hope it helps you guys

I used to use photos of gameplay, but now I make pictures with stickers and materials. It takes a while to get the pictures right.

I just tossed together a level icon for my level. Yay! I feel famous! And the way I line up the rim is actually pretty simple, I put the little camera icon that appears in the middle of the box when you choose to take a snapshot around the center of my icon I've made, then I shrink the box so that the 2 lines on the side line up perfectly vertical with the edges of the circle, then I increase the size and line up the top lines then zoom out to about the distance I want and it works wonders.
