Im one of the smartest guys in my entire grade because im a huge nerd (and im proud!) anyways to maintain my average I need to do a lot more than everyone. I have practice test after school (im forcing myself to do this but if I don't want to, then karate until 9-10, then SAT this saturday and I have to awake up at 6am and take a 4 hour test, then next week I have the finals (regents) So people I ask you to help me relieve some stress, im killing myself by forcing my body to do something I hate doing! so please people leave a comment below on how you can help me it could be anything like music, physical workout, lol's anything! Wow your gonna be busy ....am not a advice expert but relax ...just a tad .... not to much... maybe play a few games and there ....have short study sessions about 30 mins, then take a 12 min break......thats all I got hope it helped. | 2011-06-03 01:37:00 Author: vezonfan01 Posts: 293 |
I agree with vezonfan01. Take frequent breaks, but make sure the breaks are light hearted! Make sure you do things that bring you joy. Joy and laughter are great for relieving stress. | 2011-06-03 01:41:00 Author: TheCountessZ Posts: 537 |
Hey, I know what you mean Lol, and being smart doesn't make you a nerd As for Stress relieving Techniques; I like listening to slow Music, I like walking, and Drawing relaxes me That's what I do | 2011-06-03 02:06:00 Author: Unknown User |
I don't have much try walking or biking anything to get wind in your hair and face. Look over a scenic place, a quiet place, like a park or even look out your window. Think positive and leave positive notes around the house. Remind yourself of what you will achieve if you go through with it. Breath fresh air. Suscribe to daily inspirational quotes I did and it really helps me. Hope this helps. :kz: | 2011-06-03 02:17:00 Author: ceLLCUbe0618 Posts: 44 |

Seriously - Buddhist Meditation Techniques work brilliantly. You don't even have to be a Buddhist. | 2011-06-03 13:14:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
when I'm feeling stressed or frustrated I like to do something strenuous, or least destructive. I like going to the driving range and hitting golf balls, hit baseballs, I'll do some target practice out on my property, But I also like to do calmer things too, like get a good book and lay out in my hammock stretched between two shade trees or sit back on a bank and fish. usually it's just anything to occupy my mind and time. | 2011-06-03 15:10:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
I can think of a few useful stress relief techniques. One of them is unprintable here. But... 1) Turn off the lights. Sit or lay down in a comfortable position. You don't need to do lotus position or anything like that, just a position that is comfortable for your body. No music. Close your eyes, gently slow your breathing. Breathe in through your nose for a count of four, hold, breathe out through your mouth for a count of four, hold. Repeat. As you breathe, you will find your counts become slower. This is a good thing. Allow your mind to clear. Don't force it! Trying to force your mind to empty almost guarantees it won't work. Be--but don't visualise--a rock in a stream; let thoughts drift by without affecting you. Focus on the breath. Inhale 1, 2, 3, 4. Hold 1, 2, 3, 4. Exhale 1, 2, 3, 4. Hold 1, 2, 3, 4. Eventually your mind will clear. I find twenty minutes of this per day is an excellent stress relief tool, and a good way to maintain clarity throughout the day. I wouldn't advise doing it at night; personally I find that specific sort of meditation to be energising more than it is relaxing. 2) This is a nighttime meditation, a good way to unwind from the day. It involves some visualisation and woolly New Age-ish thinking, so if that conflicts with your beliefs please disregard. Anyway. Get ready for bed. Lay down comfortably on your back. Concentrate on your toes. Feel them, where they touch your sheets, be aware of them. Breathe slowly and deeply. As you breathe in, visualise your breath (I prefer the colour blue for some reason, but whatever works for you) coursing down through your body to your toes, clearing out any stress or pain or heaviness. As you breathe out (I prefer to visualise red here), visualise all that stress and difficulty coming up through your body and out through your mouth and dissipating away. Repeat until your toes feel clear and clean. Then move on to your feet, and do the same thing. Move all the way up your body to your scalp. Then continue to breathe, in through the nose and out through the mouth, visualising your breath coursing through your whole body, clearing out any last vestiges of stress. Drift off to sleep. I have more, but am uncomfortable sharing them here as they come from a specific belief paradigm which may not be compatible with yours. You can PM me if you're interested. Beyond that, stress relief is largely a matter of attitude and stress management. When working or studying, breaks are key. In general, I think two hours at a stretch is the absolute maximum to work without a break. So every two hours, get up from your desk and do something else for ten minutes. A quick walk around the block, a cup of tea, listen to some music, anything. The point is to get away for a few minutes and clear your head. In addition, when working for long stretches at a computer (back when I worked in an office), I followed the 20/20/20 rule. it's good for your eyes, and it's a good, if minor, reset button for your brain. Every twenty minutes, look at something twenty feet away for twenty seconds. Physical exertion is also an excellent stress management tool. Obviously you already do karate, but it seems to be a source of stress for you. Have you considered taking up running? Go for a twenty minute run every morning. Burn off some energy, and use it as a moving meditative practice: be mindful of your entire body, and focus on nothing more than breathing and putting one foot in front of the other. let your mind clear of all other distractions. The most important thing, though, is attitude. I think this may be what someone was saying above about Buddhist techniques. The idea of dispassion helps; the sense that all things are impermanent and 'this too shall pass' can be a very helpful tool in mitigating stress. | 2011-06-05 23:45:00 Author: roux- Posts: 379 |

I'd tell you but this is a family site. Ironically, you are telling him indirectly. By logic, this indirectly violates the forum's rules and you should be indirectly banned. Don't ask me what a indirect ban is. :/ | 2011-06-06 01:19:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |

Counting numbers, aromatherapy, music, Well.... I talk to myself and calm myself down, but that probably won't work for you because you're not crazy. >.> <.< Think about your reward for passing, but don't get into the mentality saying, "If I don't get well I don't get stuff. " That'll make it worse, think more like... "If i do well, I get lotsa aswshum stuff! " | 2011-06-12 15:40:00 Author: Maxi Posts: 1176 |
Hey, I know what you mean Lol, and being smart doesn't make you a nerd As for Stress relieving Techniques; I like listening to slow Music, I like walking, and Drawing relaxes me That's what I do I usually listen to intense music to calm me down. Sounds counter intuitive, but personally I really hate slow music. My fav type of music is fast paced, so that's my reason. Just listen to your fav music, even if it's not slow. | 2011-06-12 19:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
