Remember LittleBigPlanet?

Well, do you?

Yeah, this is a thread dedicated to the sudden trend that apparently LBP2's Cool Pages are as broken as LBP1's. Have you seen the three films, all of a single sackperson spouting rubbish about how it's "our LittleBigPlanet" and "we can save it from trolls/H4Hers/copyers".

If you have seen them, do you lot have any idea what he's on about? I honestly cannot find anything wrong with LBP2's community (apart from, ironically, these levels), and believe he's just in for the hearts. He's definatly taking it too far, publishing three movies in a day and in one comparing LBP2 to cancer.

What do you guys think? I'd like to think I'm not the only one who thinks this guy is being ridiculous, but maybe he does have a point. So, um, yeah, off you go. Discuss.

Well I am not sure many people on these forums would think it is true that LBP's Cool Pages are broken... and that might be because a lot of them are on the Cool Pages or they decide who gets on the cool pages by what goes on here. Actually, this behavior is what I believe he is referring to. Its the method of how to get on the cool pages that is... well, not really "broken", but more like... unfair and corrupt.
I agree with his point of view, and I am glad he is getting across the message that I and so many of my friends believe.

Actually, his message is quite the contrary. He's actually talking about how LBP2 is far from being broken and/or unfair, and how ridiculous that notion is.

Hmm, I know the OP doesn't see LBP2's system as being unfair... yet.
Is that who you are referring to, or are you referring to the three films.

I'm confused! : I was referring to the creator with the films that the OP was talking about in my first statement.

LBP2 broke the second bender got an mm pick. Sorry... it just angers me.

LBP2 however is still much improved from lbp1 in terms of cool pages, but probably if we give it time, we'll end up with more gravy covered citrus fruits, jerikos and russell-who-doesn't-really-have-muscles...

Lol, sorry, I clearly didn't make my first post clear enough.

I'm against these weird movies, but the guy who made them seems to think there is something wrong with the cool pages.

Also, agree with KQuinn, Space Garden relly didn't deserve an MmPick in my opinion.

The Cool Pages are trivially gamed. The people interested in gaming those pages are the people who see the trophies and hearts as more important than the actual game. Mm really screwed the pooch by not introducing new algorithms to make good levels float to the top. I understand they had a lot to do, but that was the number one complaint of the community, and the fault really lies in making any trophies for number of hearts received. They dangled a carrot, and the masses want a bite.

As an example of how broken the Cool Pages are, last night I flicked through them and had to click 'more' eight bleeding times before I found a level that wasn't 30FreeTrophies5MillionCostumesZombieBombSharkSurvi valPleaseHeartMe.

What it boils down to, of course, is the usual conflict between what the masses want, and what the knowledgeable want. The masses want garbage--look at Hollywood, the major music industry, television. Gaming is no different, unfortunately, which leaves those of us who want to play good levels totally SOL.

I think i know what creator ur referring to. He was saying how we have let lbp1 become a h4h and shark survival fest. He also said we shouldn't forget it, and even suggested we should make attempts to revive it.

The guy clearly had no idea what he was talking about, and like you mentioned was just looking for hearts. He didn't realize the amount of h4h lvls hasnt become more common on lbp1, but that less good lvls r being made to take their spots on the cool pages.

As for lbp2's cool pages, TBH i havent seen something as obvious as H4Hplzhrtkthxbye created on lbp2 and make the cool pages. All of them r on the lbp1 cool pages and therefore find a spot on the lbp2 pages. Thats one major thing they should fix, is not assume something on the lbp1 pages is good enough for the lbp2 pages.

However less obvious gimmicks r making their way onto the lbp2 cool pages, similar to the lvl we r refering to, but i dont think theirs anything they can do about that cuz if i rememeber right this lvl had a good like to dislike ratio. All because of the naive kids who thought they r hearting for a good cause. Kinda ironic.

They can't make machines review your level, since machines don't whats good or not, level can be simple yet uber fun, level can complex but sux. Even if such system exist, it would be more unfair then current cool pages and lack of freedom, you would need to stay in bondiries that machines are set for.Only way to get if level is good or not is people rateing, there simply no other way and MM can't help it

The thing is I don't think Cool Pages are broken at all. Yes there are H4H levels, but there are normally very good ones floating around there too, ones that are very enjoyable to play.

Having said that, I haven't seen these movies at all anymore, so I think his fame was rather short-lived.

It's not the game that's broken but the people playing it. Honestly, the problem comes from people wanting to play a game for enjoyment. Sure, some people enjoy their jobs, but LBP has always made making a good level only for those people. It really is a job. Unlike Modnation Racers, LBP makes it difficult to make something fun without dedicating huge amounts of time to it. Yet, because of a few levels that are good, people want to make those. They then become frustrated with the difficulty, yet they have dreams of being popular on LBP. Sigh... I'm not making myself clear.

I'll just leave it at this; good shows like Fringe and Invasion struggle/struggled to get views while things like American Idol and Jersey Shore are as popular as ever. People don't want to dedicate their lives to things like this. Another part of the H4H problem (which, BTW, I haven't seen on LBP 2) is that people feel like they are missing out on a part of the game if they don't use it. Judging by the popularity of trophies, most gamers are comletionists.
