Togglable Gyroscope on a Timer?

Archive: 5 posts

In my level I have a wheel that's rotating with a simple motor bolt, and on the ends of the wheel are small platforms bolted to the wheel, with bounce pads, and an earlier version of this wheel was used earlier in the level, in which gyroscopes kept the platforms from tipping over, so they always faced up. My goal is to make it so based on a timer, a platform will turn upside down or lose it's gyroscope effect, and be able to regain it's gyroscope effect or turn right side up again (over and over again) based on a timer to make a sort of hazard. I tried experimenting with microchips and timers with gyroscopes, but I can't get the timer to be able to reset itself to make this happen.2011-06-02 20:13:00

Hopefully I've understood what you're after.

Hook the timer up to a 2 port selector and also have it reset itself.
Hook the two selector outputs up to two different gyroscopes.
Have one facing upwards and one downwards.
You might have to alter the gyroscopes speed to get it how you want it.

Everytime the timer activates the selector it will swap between the two gyroscopes and hopefully spin it round.

Hope this makes sense

Thanks! I should've been able to figure this out myself but there were some things I didn't realize yet since I'm still new to the LBP2 level logic system, like that gyroscopes arrows tell what direction for the object to turn to or that timers could reset, making a timer reset is in it's tweak menu right?

No you do not make timer reset it it's tweak menu. I think everything you are doing is right except for the timer. Your only problem is you don't know how to reset it. Well here's how. Simple connect the ouput of the timer to the reset input on bottom of the timer. This will work for timers, counter etc..... If you do it this way the timer will reset itself. You should see two inputs on the timer, one on the side and one at the bottom. When you get the point where you want another piece of logic to reset the timer just connect that to the timers reset input.

If you are new and you ever get stumped LBPcentral is the best place to get help. Also search for a creator names comphermc. He is on here a bit and also he has a series of YouTube videos. They are a bit advanced but even being a newcomer they can help a ton. I learned a lot with his tutorials. The ingame tutorials are basically useless. I learned nothing with them. Don't be afraid to ask anything, believe me I was so confused when I started, soon you'll be able to create whatever is on your mind

Good luck.

SneakySteve's solution was so elegant, that I was compelled to make one for demonstration purposes! :-)
colorandlight, you will find an example of the rotating platform wheel, with your name on it, just past the Tesla coil in my tools level.
