My kids are too smart for my own good!!!

Archive: 31 posts

At the beginning of Gripple Grapple, where you place the sticker and it releases the 3 winged items, it took me a lot of practice to get these. You have to move quick to catch them. My wife and I even tried working together; in the end, I had to get them myself.

A few days ago, I'm watching my kids play this same level. My daughter (age 4) moves out PAST where they come out...my son (age 5) places the sticker, releases the items, and my daughter grabs the items easily. I found myself thinking...WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?!!

Don't worry, next your kids will make a level that took a few weeks to make and get MM Picked while you spend a few months on a level that gets lost in all the crap on the Cool Pages never to be seen again. 2011-06-02 11:05:00

Yeah, those were hard to get. I had to collect one and then restart the level to get the second one, because they'd just speed off ahead of me. 2011-06-02 11:15:00

Yeap it took me a few goes to get those items. Very tricky but did it with 2 others (not kids mind you, adults 30+ club)

I've spent months doing my level yet to find loads of other levels done in less time by kids that are way better than what I'm doing. I'm still not finished & seeing other levels keeps giving me new ideas to do. Kids tend react differently in games, if not quicker. Play a few shooters online and you'll see. I have a few good team players on my list and I know when a team up with them I'm more likely to be in the top and win 98% of the time.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this trend will likely continue....in a few years they'll probably wipe the floor with you in FPS games too 2011-06-02 17:31:00

haha kids these days, they are clued up on everything!! It's weird, they can pick up anything that adults seem to of taken ages to learn. Computers seem to be a good example, I've never seen a kid being taught how to use them, and they can use them just as well as I do haa.2011-06-02 18:14:00

That's so amazing. A few of us were playing a few months back because one of our friends had to go back and replay everything in LBP1. We were stuck on the x4 area in the Temples and we couldn't remember how to accomplish it. We all just stood there without a clue how to do it, until we realized we were all adults, and we commented, "So why is this so hard?" "Because we don't have kids with us this time." lol 2011-06-03 01:56:00

for one player, all you have to do is activate the next checkpoint, go where the race start does not "catch" you, activate the sticker sensor, and then pop. You can then go to the left and easily get the prizes by jumping.2011-07-04 00:16:00

That is an amazing story, really cute.
Yeah, my 3 year old brother uses iPads and iPhones better than my parents. He's memorized the pass-codes for both, that's why I don't open my iPod in front of him.

GAH, I did the same thing... I played single player and didn't even think of using a second person.

Spent the better part of a day trying to get them...

This demotivates me. Outsmarted by 4 and 5 year olds... Are they amazingly clever or are we all just stupid? Your kids are crafty, I'll give 'em that

I have a story like that, heh.

When I was playing LBP2 with my cousin, he was on that certain arcade machine and he asked how to shock the sackbot to the side.
I said "oh you just randomly mash buttons", a few seconds later he ACTIVATED THE KONAMI CODE and the machine blew up revealing the hidden message. :o
My face was like :O (like in Scott Pilgrim ha)

EDIT: He's like.. 12? or something?

How old is he?

Little kids being pro at videogames is awesome. All the little kids I know are awful at platformers, they like Mario Kart.

Kids these days know more than you expect.

My dad is more than 30 years older than me and I know things he never heard of!

The bubbles are easier to get than most think single player. When you get the grapple hook, you can catch 2 or 3 on the first swing. If you jump early, grab the sponge with the grapple hook, then hold up, your speed increases quite a bit. If you let go at the right time you'll land right on the bounce pads, keeping your speed. By the time you hit the second bounce pads, you should have them all 2011-08-04 02:11:00
