How to create a One-Off Switch effect?

In my level I have a windmill that has to be activated when a player activates a specific player sensor switch, but the windmill needs to stay active after he leaves the radius of the switch. How would I create this effect, which is similar to the one-off switch effect in LBP1 that I don't see anymore?
I thought that the batter logic would be used for this purpose, however I am unable to give the player sensor as an input for the battery to start working on the windmill. So what should I do?

Player sensor -> counter 0/1 -> Windmill

When player enters range, counter will permanently activate windmill. Can also be stopped by resetting counter (and then reactivated by entering range again).
