A Nucleotrosity! (LBP2 remake)

Archive: 11 posts

Accidently screwed up the LBP.me link, so just click here (http://lbp.me/v/0r1emw)

I swear I fixed that cutscene this time.

Back in the days of LBP 1 I made a level named A Nucleotrosity. With the advent of LBP2, I began remaking and adding on to it, and now it is done. I wasn't counting, but I think I'm near the 60+ hour mark in create mode.

The story is rather basic as my focus was more on the level itself. You are a test subject in a nuclear facility in the arctic. Something went wrong in a critical test, and now the whole facility is filling with deadly radioaction. It's time to escape...

There may be a few bugs and the what-not, but I'm beyond the point of caring. I've tested it twice since I've published the final product, and I didn't see any more than two minor graphical bugs. I would like to stress two important things, THE LEVEL IS ENTIRELY SINGLE PLAYER, AND YOU MUST PLAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH FOR THE FULL EXPERIENCE. This level is about the experience, not the game play or prettiness, though I did put effort into all parts.

If you find minor problems with the level, I probably won't bother, as I am ready to move on to new projects. Do notify me of major problems however. It would suck if few people finished the level because of a small but game breaking problem. I do not believe you will find any however.

Although I don't care much for receiving feedback on this level, I'm happy to play and give feedback for any of your levels if you notify me that you played this one.

P.S. There are three endings to the level.

I would like to say that I plan on playing this level since it sounds promising, but I can't queue it because of the network being down.

This post is here for me to remember to play it, and I will edit it later on to give feedback.

Nice little opening sequence! I feel terrible saying this, but I couldn't help but laugh when the scientist transformed into an angry beaver. XD I really enjoyed the lighthearted humor you used throughout this piece! With that accompanying the platforming elements, it enhanced the experience in a way! I'm assuming you were trying to go for that "clean facility" type of look for the environment as well, and I think you did pretty well on that. The death scene greatly reminded me of Resident Evil 5's scene when you lost in the public assembly, only not as violent. Great job on it! Unfortunately, I had a group of people playing along with me and I wasn't able to finish the level, but I will definitely come back to this level in the future when I'm by myself! I'm curious to see the three different endings.

For when you have the time, would you care to play through and leave feedback on any of my levels in my signature? Any one of them is fine or you can play through all of them if you want. :o The choice is yours. ^^

Yeah. Having a party of players seriously screws up everything. This I have tested with my cousin and brother. It just doesn't work. Period. Same with most of the levels I make. Thanks for going through it again by yourself though. Most people just get frustrated, quit, then never play it again because they didn't pay attention to the tags or description. Putting that Doo-dad that makes it so no one can join once it's activated certainly helps though.

Sadly my end involved mutants mutilating my charred sack T.T It was a very nicely made "experience" I enjoyed the scenery, visual effects, and game play overall yet I feell it is a tad dark around when the mutants start to chase you and you escape w/ the grappling hook. This lead to my death and I still can't figure out where I was supposed to go. I also suggest (just a suggestion) you have some cut scene sequencers(I assume) delete themselves after playing or play once to ensure the player doesn't have to relive the tragic death of a scientist who isn't even there. Besides for the minor flaws this was an enjoyable experience in which I may want to play again to see the other to (hopefully more fulfilling) ending.2011-06-16 19:33:00

Just finished it, quite a humorous level. One of my favorite aspects were the cinematics which ranged from funny to pretty grim (I died at the end) . However there was one cinematic where a guy turns into a giant beaver after being trapped in a room and then a fish hook comes down where I literally had to watch it 3 times because you didn't add a one shot switch. That was definitely the worst part of the level. Gameplay was hit and miss, some platforming sections were challenging and clever, while others were just needlessly confusing, such as the end with the reactor, and the beginning where i didn't know what the heck I had to do (which ended up being pretty specific without any instruction). The multiple endings thing was pretty cool, but I thought it was unusual that because I died in a fire I was eaten by mutants. Overall it was a well put together level.

When you get the chance please provide feedback for my level Topiary Tower Tragedy thanks

It seems that many people are having a problem with a cutscene, so I will fix that.

EDIT: Should be fixed now.

Just played it, and I have to say it's really good.

There are a few cutscene bugs like people have been saying. When the fish hook comes down, I thought you were supposed to go through the tunnel to the right but once I landed on top of that gassy room the cutscene replayed.
After that, I would suggest making the lighting a little darker and the effect more grimmer in the vents or facility tunnels like the cave - If you're going for a horror approach. It was intimidating going through the tunnels with the music and sound effects but the lighting kind of make me feel safer lol.

I REALLY liked the testing part with the neon. It was like clean and neat. Especially the elevator scene going up to that point because I felt like I was going to die.

And maybe it's just me but the part where ur being ambushed by all the monsters is really overwhelming and there's a looot of monsters for one guy to kill (but that's just me). And sorry but would you mind telling me which song was used in that part? With the bear in the background.

The rest was just gameplay and it was good. Regardless of the story not being stressed I still thought it was a good premise and it was intriguing, but one more suggestion is that (to add a little more feel for the "characters") is that someone you meet along the way gets turned into a monster and you have to kill them. JUST a suggestion, if you wanted to enhance the story a little more.

It was a good play

That is a nice suggestion. I actually was not trying for a horror theme. I like to add suspense and make things very moody, but I don't try to actually make horror levels.

Anyways, I don't remember the exact name of the song, but it includes the number 76 (or 72) and Finalle. It's a pre-loaded song, so you should have it if you've gone through the story mode.
