Am I the only one who cares?

Archive: 22 posts

Am I the only one who cares if people don't change a Sackbot's animation style if it isn't a sackbot? I'm really bothered by sounds they make when they move. It also ruins the entire level for me if they're animations aren't changed. For example, in many "random" films, if the creator never changes the animation style, that just turns me off completely and ruins the whole level for me. I'd probably be laughing if the animations are changed.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who cares.

i always got the feeling there was something off with the "sackboy" animations as well.2011-06-01 01:30:00

It's just a sign of carelessness or lack of detail from the creator. I agree it does detract from the level, but I try to ignore it, since it is a fairly minor thing.2011-06-01 01:45:00

I try to ignore it too, but I just can't. They're making those irritating sounds, and I can't ignore them. They should at least make the default animation Sackboy, since we know everyone's gonna change the costume.

What bothers me most is if you slap a Sackbot that has the wrong animation. I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing a Sackboy's head spinning around when it's slapped with the Sackbot animation applied to it. O_o2011-06-01 15:26:00

I always try to correct the animations for all characters...
God Bless my minor OCD.

What I also don't like the way they walk. They walk like they'd crapped themselves or something.2011-06-01 18:57:00

lol

I know exactly how ya feel lemurboy12. I think SSTAGG1 has it exactly right, it shows a lack of attention to detail in a lot of cases. It's like having visible logic in LBP1 was for a long time. (Although I admit sometimes visible logic is cool - for example SLS10's levels)

I think as people learn how to use the bots better we should see less of it from "good" creators, but there will always be those who don't care enough about their work to bother to customize this too.

Hahahaha! Yes it does! *Squeak, squeak, creak. >

Honestly it doesn't even sound much like a robot, but some rusty springs instead.

I totally agree.
Who spends ages creating a sense character in their Sackbot, and then just leaves the defaul movement animations on? There's plenty of variety - make good use of them.
I love the Higgenbotham walk. Looks awesomes.

Oh the joyous noise. I hate it so much. It really defeats so much immersion, especially when I slap a bot. As soon as I test a sackbot I made and added logic into, I hear that noise and I'm compelled to fix it.

Seeing as I never play through film levels, I never encountered this, but I can see it being a problem.

If I watch a film and they make those noises, I'm turned off entirely, and lack interest in doing anything for awhile. It even makes me decline friend invites/joins. I hate those noises that much.2011-06-01 23:53:00

It's always bothered me. It's like having visible dark matter. That stuff is just ugly.2011-06-02 02:20:00

Whenever I'm working on a friend's level or if they take out a sackbot, I immediately check their animation style to see if it's changed or not.2011-06-02 16:32:00

I agree completely! If it's meant to be an actual Sackperson, and not some kinda robot, then people should at least have the decency to change the animation. And their head spinning while they're slapped just freaks me out.2011-06-02 18:56:00

I hate the sound and walk with a passion. (Unless, of course it is MEANT to be a sackbot.) I don't see how people don't notice it. They look like they've soiled themselves for pete's sake!2011-06-02 19:11:00

In movies where the animation is not changed for all characters, I am incapable of laughing anymore at the movie.2011-06-15 12:43:00

Mm did a lot of small, but questionable things in LBP 2 that I hope are going to be fixed with the update sure to come with the move pack. Making holo have a texture... making sackbots die in water... making sackboy'ms feet always touch the ground when he is close enough... making hologram blurry against the backdrop... that last one is a personal gripe > but other than that, you have to admit, LBP as a package has worked beyond anyones wildest dreams. So why complain?2011-06-15 13:18:00
