Getting Into The Swing

Archive: 2 posts

Sackboy is in his brand new adventure! This level is the beginning of the new LBP 2 journey that is original and extremely imagenative! This was my first Little Big Planet 2 level and I put a lot of effort into it! So far, there are 3 levels in the adventre, Including this one and one mini game (Cake Mix Madness) there will be more levels coming to the adventre of Sackboy soon, but i'm currently in the process of creating a brand new level (I may link it onto this advnture,but it's unlikely) so it may be a little while before there are more levels linked to my story But never fear! there will be more levels on the way soon! I wold appreciate it so much if you could play this level and possibly the other ones linked to the adventure! Thank you and please enjoy my levels!

At the risk of starting out like a massive spanner I have to point out a spilling mistook;
From your level info
"…Dr Dowood's hideout and discover new perils…"
I don't normally care about forum post being misspelled, but thought that you prefer this to be mentioned.

A lot of plays, and a lot of hearts I see as this loads. So am intrigued.

It starts well a little bit of chaos with a bounce pad smashing you through some blocks. Not sure if this was meant to happen automatically upon spawn but I had to push into the second bounce pad. But as I write that I think that this may be to help multiple players load in.

As it pushed me I thought that I landed [B]IN[B] the sackbot, and thought that'd be a pretty cool intro. But then I realised that it'd mean no grapple hooks, so ignore that!

Cutscene camera work is solid, it doesn't jump around too much and your angles seem natural.

I don't understand getting stuck behind the spawn point. But I like the little sackseer just standing about… it'd be cool if he waved as I went past though.

The switch timer that turns on the light, seemed a little out of position, the timer is white and it turns on a yellow light which is rectangular. It's almost the same size as the timer but not quite and sits a little lower in position. It may look cleaner if it was lined up and uniform as well as the same colour.

OK, so now I'm confused. I'm told that I need to jump and grapple my way around, I then cross a powerup disable point and fall into an electric pit. When I respawn there is no grapple pick up… maybe I can jump into the pit and try to grab the roof. Hmmm, not really, but I think thats right. Two options here to make clearer. Make the door lock behind you so you can't go back for the powerup, or slightly reposition the powerdown point to make it clearly unavoidable.

A nice short stage really, not much challenge, but obviously a pre-cursor to something bigger. The design was clean and consistent, and I like the hamster pipe not going the way you expect. The detailing around the main game path was also well placed. I thought that the partial hidden alcove beneath the spinning wheel was also well placed.

I enjoyed the level, but wasn't a huge fan of all the pickups. I know this is a personal player preference thing, but some objects seemed to just be basic stickers on cutout cardboard.

Others were interesting though, I like the term sackseer and the mover logic is a nice give away also, but when collecting it it looked like a block of cardboard, as is does in the poppit. This is when I got a little miffed at all the pickups.

Maybe make the microchip visible so that it looks like something worth picking up/looking at in popit/and not deleting. Because as soon as I went in to see what I had picked up it made sense that it was actually something worth while to a lot of people.

Once the rage for correcting a typo subsides feel free to play my stage Miserable Flying Weather (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=57390-Miserable-Flying-Weather-My-First-quot-real-level) an correct the grammar.
