USING BALLISTICOLA's 3D camera i created a test level for multiplayer. Up to 4 players can spend 2 miniutes trying to shoot each other. Camera is still choppy. But it's a start. Will glad accept any help on tank designs and ideas on obstacles. Also keep in mind Im still not use to the 3D camera tool and building 3D levels. hope yall enjoy.

This has had a fair few plays as it is interesting, and you make some pretty impressive stuff. As you are well aware there are some issues with it. Similar to the other 3D stages you have up for testing. It mostly comes down to the 'choppy' camera as you put it, I can't get the tank to turn, nor could I do the same in the sackboy walking around the town.

I really don't think this is a failing of yours, it's to do with the nuances of this particular camera setup. I understand that it is an early concept and I hope this is the type of discussion you are wanting. I think that the driving of the tank is a little cumbersome an I am pretty sure that you are trying hard to address this.

The tank has a great base level design. Don't know if you saw an interesting tutorial about making tank treads, but you almost have a nice design there. I did a quick search but can't find it. Using that checkered glass you UV edit it so that the pattern is right on the edge, one white one square, one black. You then set up the on/off animation hooked to speed scale to be part of your drive mechanic. I'm also picturing the tank from Indiana Jones, the back pack on the base, thinking of how the building works in this mode I think the detailing like this will help out.

I haven't really tried this top down/3D stuff yet as it makes my head hurt a little. But I think that the tank could actually be MORE blocky (a bonus to this way of design). The turret could be a hex and you use clever layering to give some more height to it... wait... my heads hurting as I try to work out the angles.

The stage is pretty flat and open, which may cause the exclamation warning. If it were darker and more closed in it may actually help. But making the stage too tight will cause issues with the turning. I am reading that many people that are tackling this by making the stage rotate instead of the camera. This again; makes my head hurt.

I liked the error message you had on one of the walls, but I couldn't blow it up , your sounds also worked well, not sure if you plan to make custom bullets also, depends on you final tank design is going to be I guess, but I thought that the plasma was not really the 'right' type of bullet.

Ummm I wish I could offer more info/feedback/suggestions but I don't really have an understanding of the mechanics to this type of design yet. I was in create mode looking at an upcoming level from a pretty cool creator on this site and his character doesn't move at all... The entire stage does. Great for one player, but not for your versus mode.

It looks REALLY buggy. But the fact that its actually getting somewhere is incredible. I forsee recreations of classic "Army Men 3D" levels 2011-06-14 04:28:00
