Treadmill help

Okay, I'm hitting a major snag, and I have NO idea what is causing this..

Working on the "gym" room.. and i got the stairmaster working, and most of the "monkey bars"... but I'm getting STUCK on my treadmill. (and I've seen this done on a few dozen other levels, so I don't know what I'm missing).

I have the two circles/motorbolts set... and they're set correctly (so there's no warped roll)... so then i set up the "planks" that get pulled around the two pulleys. The joints have a length of 0.0, and non-stiff when appropriate (rods/springs) to insure they're almost next to one another... but no matter what, at some point the treadmill/platform literally passes -through- the pulley on the right.. and then snaps.

The platforms are the same width (3 planes) as the pulley wheels... so there should be no reason they pass through the circle... I've tried this with short (about 5 planks ot a side), and long (15 or so to a side), and no matter what size, it does this. I've even tried adding extra platforms (so that gravity will pull the extra planks down when they're under the pulleys.)

I've tried sticking a glass platform between the two pulleys...to insure that once the planks go over the top, gravity pulls them down on to the glass platform to keep them smooth and level.

I've even tried multiple wheels...

I've tried using various light materials (rubber, cardboard) and moderate/heavy ones (Wood mostly), but no matter what i do, this never fails to break for no reason, or pulls along so 'bouncily' that you'll never get over it....

Anybody had any luck making a "smooth" treadmill that stays in one piece?

I made one.
Use rubber wheels with motors attached to them with no gaps between them. Put an emitter with a certain life span and spawn blocks right away after eachother. Make a gap in a big block of something at the end where the blocks go into when they are about to dissappear so it runs smoothly.

I made mine before I noticed MM had already made one as a collectable thing and mine had the same basic design. They made that one in the bunker, I think you can get it there. Mine was made for an aztec theme.

Its basically the same thing.

That's what I'm probably going to have to turn to, moley.. I would have figured the 'chain" of planks would have been "easier" to build.. (no guessing on lifespan on the emitter question, just how many planks I needed to create, and it was easy enough to pull planks off iff there were too many), but I'm just stumped as to why what "should' work by the laws of physics in Sack-world isn't working (I mean everyone uses them for tank treads and the Gladiator level has it, and has no problem with it).2008-12-08 18:07:00

If you want an actual tread that will go around I have a two plane, plus one thin plane tread that you can scale down and it will work as a treadmill. You can use cardboard rollers as well. These do not have the stretching charactersitcs of connecting with string or rods either. You can win the treads on my level.. Might Might Tank V5.52008-12-08 19:04:00

Thanks D.. I upped the number on the rods to 1.0 and it worked like a dream... (had to add another platform under it to help stop the bounce, but it finally worked...) THE GYM part is done..

That leaves the Kitchen, Ball Room, Vault, and the room i don't know what to do with it yet
