The Heist: Prologue

http://lbp.me/v/0p88y9

Hello there! I have just recently finished my first official LBP2 level
It is going to be part of a series i'm very excited to make. I want to make a nice little story, with interesting characters. The whole series will be quite rich in detail, as it's one of my favorite things to do on LBP. I do sometimes get carried away and create entire levels that look pretty, but are absolutely no fun to play. I feel as though this level strikes a nice balance, however.

I would really appreciate any feedback I get on the level, and will gladly return the favor!

A few pictures just to show the style of the level:

Bumping to beg for a comment or two

I'm quite excited to be working on this series! I am already about half done with the second part, which should be fun! Before I go out and create another thread for that in a week or so, it'd be cool if a few more people could tell me what they think of this idea.

I like comments and criticism. I wanna know what I do right and wrong, and try to fix it in future installments

Hi Frozen,

Just played your level...
Attention to detail was outstanding! loved the interaction with the vending machines, lights doors lifts etc.. the scream from the bathroom and the air-con unit buzzing away on the roof.
I thought you captured the feel of the city grime really well, and did I mention the detail! ...

The story was great with some good sackbot animation and character, cant wait for the next installment and as one reviewer said keep going now while you have the ideas fresh in your mind..

Overall very decent indeed, yayed and hearted from me.

Cheers.

The pictures looked great ans i thought i would try ur lvl out seeing as i am a sucker for detail .

I thought the whole presentation of the lvl was awesome. As soon as your presented with the option to interact with things and talk to people you feel like your about to delve into something big, and the forcing the player to walk on occasion gives it a realistic feeling. Add that to detailed surroundings and it creates a great atmosphere. Im not sure if you got inspiration from Uncharted, but it sure feels like it as u tread along with your heist geared character and scripted destruction occurs as your anticipating what floor will collapse on you next.

Overall this is the perfect prologue, it teases you with what the full lvl will be like and introduces ambient experiences such as interaction with characters and environment.

I truely believe if the full lvl is a large, complicated, and story driven version of this then it will be one of the best lvls yet.

This is such an amazing level. Your use of storytelling mixed into such a detailed world is excellent. And the short gameplay sections are all well laid out and interesting to play.

Excellent use of sackbot and camera effects for the opening scene. I would suggest that you block off the layer switching (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blthN12rp7I) before the stairs as I did switch under the pipe rather than walk up the stairs. I think that you could fine tune your stairs so that you don't need to jump up them also, same with the little edge after the titles before you jump into the room.

(Take a look at the stairs in this (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=57334-Aircraft-Carrier-U.S.S.-OK-Training-V.S.-Modes) level by Celsus)

Also maybe material tweak the glass in the opening room to not be slippery. Not a massive issue, but If you jump on the display case it may feel better to not slide around.

Amazing design and detailing on all the elements!. The way that you interact with the environment is impressive, as are the small touches like seeing your sackperson waiting for the elevator. The changing between indoors and outdoors was also well done.

After the roof section it seemed to bug out on me though. After the cutscene for the bar, I ended up on a black screen and could walk back and forwards but there was nothing to do I think.

This is an insanely brilliant world that you have built. The gameplay elements that you have created is great, the fact that all NPCs in the game have things to say again highlights the effort put into the details. I will be sitting patiently waiting to see where this goes, PM me to let me know as soon as the next part is out!

I usually can't stand city levels cause nobody ever tries to make them XD I shall play this and most likely heart it regardless because it is one of the very few city levels in this game lol2011-06-11 18:22:00

wow that level was brilliant! the detail you put in the level was really something else, it all heightens the realism so well. i love how you can interact with the world around you too it really jumped out at me playing it. the clever atmosphere at the start follows through to the very end so nicely, its going to be a great series well done = )2011-06-12 00:53:00

Wow this game was amazing i loved the high level of detail and the interaction with items.

This level needs more plays.

The interior of your flat was astounding it really felt like a grotty cheap dump. The train tunnel was a really nice touch on the city street. I actually had a little trouble getting into the window of the first building you climb. Might wanna make the ground more even there.
I really liked the shopping trolley near the bum. It's detail like this that stands this level out above the rest.

The bar was great as well i thought the duke box was cool. If thermo was'nt a problem it would have been nice to play pool with the guy at the pool table
I think some smoke coming from the coffer mug when you look at the file in the bar would be just one of those finishing touches with that scene.

I really like levels with a lot of story in them like this one. I will definately recommend this to anyone looking for a fun narrative experience.

I will play some of your other levels later to see what else you've got

I've been fiddling with ideas for a simular kind of level though it would be in a future city and you would be either a bounty hunter or a criminal. Sort of like a blade runner feel i hope. Still just idea though.
This has given me a few ideas to work with.

i really enjoyed this level! it was very attractive visually, and although it was just an intro to the story i found it very fun to play through.

i cant wait to play the next level, which i saw locked on your earth
very well done, this level deserves much more plays than it has now

Nice job. I really liked being able to interact with everyone and some of the objects. I loved the start and the story, but like others I was immediately ready for more once I was finished (good thing). I liked the window opening section and the scream from the building was laugh out loud good. The folder scene in the bar was also nice. One thing you might want to try experimenting with to add even more depth would be some of the "xtra-layers" techniques. I gave it a smile and a heart in anticipation of the forthcoming levels...

When you get time, please provide me some feedback on either my Ka-Boom Basketball lvl (better 1+ players) or my Afro Troll lvl in my sig.
