Sackbot NPCs

Archive: 5 posts

Once when I was browsing the costumes in LBP2, I realized several of the costumes have names attached to them, like Vincent and Viola, as if they represent actual characters in LBP's world. While I know some of them are based on real life people, others make me wonder if there's supposed to be more to Craftworld than is shown in the games' stories. Of particular interest to me are themed costumes such as Flyboy and Clockwork Princess from Da Vinci's Hideout, or the Aviatress of Victoria's Laboratory. Those are what gave me the idea that these costumes represent actual NPCs from those worlds.

So, I'm beginning a project that applies these themed costumes to actual characters from the different themes of Craftworld. I'm beginning with the Gardens theme of LBP1, as it is my intention to first make a level for each of the LBP1 themes, then move on to LBP2, for which I've already laid out a cast of characters using the Costumes listing as a guide.

This is where my fellow friendly LBP players can help me. I'm interested in knowing the background of several costumes, and if anyone wants to help me design levels over PSN, let me know and we can begin planning the level. After all, any good idea needs a good plan to back it up, right?

Costumes I'm curious about:

-of the themed costumes. These include: Clockwork Princess, Flyboy, Quina, Aviatress, Cupcake, Meryl, DJ Rewind, Globetrotter, Cordlass, Plectra, Cynthia, Alvin, Berry, Vincent, Viola, Waterlily, Disco Sack, Mr. Moon, and Mrs. Sun.

-What does the "PVC" in the PVC costume from the Wilderness stand for? I've researched the term myself before and I haven't found anything relevant.

-And of course I'm curious about named costumes such as Andreas, Celia, Marie, Maria, and Robert. I imagine most of them are based on staff members or other real life people.

Oh wow!
What a fantastic idea! I'm very surprised that no one has thought of this before!

I definitely cannot wait to find out the background of the Clockwork Princess especially. Hit me up with a PM if you need any help in creating any backstories for these characters, I write a lot so I should be able to help you if you ever get stuck.

Well, I can say what I had in mind for most of them at least, but it will only make it harder to wait until we create levels for the LBP1 themes to do so for LBP2. For now, I'll just cover the LBP1 themes, and in a later post I'll cover LBP2.

Gardens: King's Castle - this is the one I'm working on right now. It uses the Elizabethan male and female costumes, plus the Roman Gladiator and possibly Pirate. The current plan is to design an obstacle course, race track, and fighting arena. If possible though, I'd like to make it a full-blown platforming level. The same goes for all these levels.

Savannah: Circus - involving the Ringmaster, Lion, and Zebra costumes.

Wedding: Crypt? - honestly, I'm not too fond of this theme.

Canyons: TNT Town - a town dedicated to building demolitions and excavation explosives. Involves the Mexican, Senorita, and Cowboy costumes.

Metropolis: No name yet, but the plot involves the Mayor's Daughter, wearing the Sequin Dress and Bouffant, a hero wearing the American Jacket, Pants, and Striped Helmet, and a couple of thugs, one wearing the Afro and Tracksuit, the other wearing the Ball Cap, Number 8 Shirt and Dollar Necklace. I'm thinking automobiles are involved.

Islands: This one uses the Ninja and Kimono costumes. Perhaps it revolves around finding a secluded ninja village?

Temples: I honestly don't know what to do with this one, but if I did I'd use the Indian male and female costumes.

Wilderness: I'm looking forward to this one. It's an outpost of sorts dedicated to technological R&D, including hologram security fields, cyberspace, and robots. The Russian, PVC, and Box Robot costumes are planned, along with possibly the Neon costume.

By the way, thank you for the compliment.

Polyvinyl chloride, commonly abbreviated PVC, is a thermoplastic polymer. It is a vinyl polymer constructed of repeating vinyl groups (ethenyls) having one hydrogen replaced by chloride. Polyvinyl chloride is the third most widely produced plastic, after polyethylene and polypropylene2011-06-23 11:16:00

This idea sounds awesome but in all honesty I would skip the LBP1 characters. Those costumes do not have the same personality that the LBP2 costumes have. I mean it's your project but I think the LBP2 costumes are a lot more interesting. Good luck on this though.2011-06-24 07:11:00
