Great job everyone!!

This has got to be the biggest spotlight ever.

And a huge congratulations Kaiju_Kid , who is spotlighted on ps3 and psp this time. I don't think that's ever been done before!!

And thanks to valmassoi, without his help, the psp spotlight wouldn't have been possible.

Huge congratulations to all the spotlighted levels! We've really been given a bumper pack of tremendously high quality levels to play through this last two weeks, and I'm sure you'll agree when you queue these beauties up for yourself.

And major applause for the PSP team - you guys really pulled it back this week, way to go!

Wow, what a list!!!

And I got a Retro spotlight.... for a Retro level! Thanks guys!

GREAT idea slowly going back through the levels from several months ago and doing backlog spotlighting. It allows a current spotlight without missing the older ones.

Congrats everyone!

I've got a PS3 now so will be sure to check out the levels, but hats off to the LittleBigPSP. Wow - what a great list! Congrats to all !!

And thanks for the nod... I really wasn't expecting that!

Also a HUGE thanks to the Spotlight Crew for such a valiant effort during what, at times, must have seemed like an insurmountable task. Well done!

And finally... an update... The Spotlight Search Engine (http://spotlight.lbpcentral.com/) is all updated and ready to go. I don't know if anyone else saw it, but there were some wonky caching issues going on. I've worked that out now. And I've updated the database with this new spotlight. Hope you like all the changes.

Another great job on the spotlight. Great to see the great levels scored the spotlight, including epic levels made by L1GhtmArE, Steve_Big_Guns, Lockstitch, the guy who made "Star Wars Battlefront", the guys behind "A Malevolent Tale", CompherMC, CCubage, and Foofles. Glad the spotlight crew keeps up the pace.2011-05-31 19:10:00

One thing.

Why are you guys picking levels that have already been Mm-picked? Surely these levels have already gotten an unhealthy amount of attention, why would you spotlight them even MORE? The spotlight is there to show off the gems in the community, right? Why would you pick the most obvious over-played levels?

Actually, why not put in a play-count limit? if your level has over 5 000 plays then surely it have gotten the attention it deserves, then the spotlight might aswell leave it.

It's like turning a spotlight towards a huge sun! Use the big shining spotlight to uncover the underplayed and unappriciated levels instead :]

It's about the level quality, not how many plays, if it's been MM picked or only 5 people have played it. It's about showcasing the quality of the level regardless of statistics. They also turn that big spotlight on underplayed and underappreciated levels too - but including the more known levels doesn't take away from that. There are no set numbers of levels that can be included in the spotlight, so both kinds of levels can be spotlghted without "hurting" the other.2011-06-04 06:09:00

Oh, alright then. It just seems ssomewhat silly to me to spotlight something that have gotten huge amount of attention anyway. It just dosen't make sense IMO. Isn't the spotlight about discovering NEW and INTERESTING levels for players? Everybody have already played a level when it's promoted with big pink ribbons in LBP, the spotlight helps noone at all by further praising those.

When I come to think of it, exactly what purpose does this spotlight fill if it's not about suggesting undiscovered levels for others to play?

I would rather see the big levels leave the spotlight and have more focus on the underplayed levels to increase attention on those who haven't gotten enough of it. :B

As far as I can remember, the purpose of the spotlight has always been to showcase great levels that were posted in the Level Showcase. Nothing more, nothing less.
Finding hidden gems is a side-effect of this, not the primary goal.
If it was the primary goal, the spotlight team would have to start culling levels before every showcase (adding to the already long process) in case the level got outside exposure between when it was chosen and when the spotlight went up.

I don't see any harm in including ALL levels of spotlight quality in the spotlight. Regardless of any attention the level may have already received. As Morgana said, there is no limit to the number of levels we include in the spotlight, so be assured, that any level that makes the cut will be in it. It's not like spotlighting a MM pick'ed level is going to bump someone's level from the spotlight. The worst thing that can ever happen is the spotlight is a little bigger. That's it. I see no harm in having a bigger spotlight. All you have to do is skip over the MM picks. Should be no prob.
