Well here it is... the hardest level designed by the evil Dr. Cortex This is an exact replica of the original level. Don't believe me? Watch this video and compare the two!

If you can ace the level, you'll be rewarded with the "Re-Education" by Rise Against song I created in my other level showcasing it. Good luck you expert platformers out there in craftworld!

And good luck to you non-platforming folk who accidentally stumble upon this level.. try to not blow your brains out

What Crash Bandicoot game is Slippery Climb from? I can't recall it being in any of the original three.

Will check it out, though. :B

It's from Crash Bandicoot 1, halfway through island #3. It was the level that you had to save all your lives for because you were definetly going to lose at least....30... lol2011-05-29 19:20:00

Haha yeah, i actually got pretty far my second try to ace the level. But yeah.. I still haven't aced it myself. It's crazy difficult. There's a part at the end where you need to jump from a spinning platform onto an enemy that flies up and down, and bounce off of him onto a spinning platform thats moving left and right... 0_o

That is OVERKILL naughty dog!

Dang. I think I hate you. This is too close to the original and I can't believe that you have unleashed this hell onto the LBP2 community

Stairs into the wall good. Was a little confused as they don't come back out if you're in the way. It makes sense, but is there a way to have it come straight out when the way is clear (while still keeping the correct sync). I'm sure you looked at this long and hard though.

Some very clever use of following deadly gas and re-spawining enemies.

I didn't finish the stage, not through bad design, I just remember how frustrating it was the first time in Crash Bandicoot, and I had to leave before I broke something.

I did game over on the very first tentecal monster the first play because I kept trying to spin attack!

So I guess that's a good thing as I really did forget I was playing LBP and was back with my PSone. I now have the game on PSP, but gave up trying to 100% again.

If you get a chance please take a look at my stage Miserable Flying Weather (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=57390-Miserable-Flying-Weather-My-First-quot-real-level&p=859376#post859376), it's not nearly as polished as this but would love any feedback you are willing to offer.

Good level, but very hard indeed. I wonder if someone aced it ? It seems quite difficult, I don't think i'll try .

I've played CrashBandicoot and I've finished it, but (shame on me) I don't remember this level. I remember a factory, pipes that have burned crah a lot of times, but this level was probably erased from my brain to avoid the painfull memories.

I won't be able to tell if it's close to the original, but it was fun half of the time, really frustrating the other half. You realise that LBP is not a precise platformer in this type of level. It's not your fault, but sackboy is not as good as crash when the platforming require precision. It's possible to finish the level, and it's a descent challenge.

Ok, I forget to upload the picture of the bugs i've found, but i'll try to explain them. the first bug is a big one, but I don't know how it happens. In the vertical section, just after the platforms that goes in and out the wall quickly, there's a wooden stair with bubbles on it. When i first try the level, i couldn't pass this stair, I was killed by gaz. Don't know why but it was annoying. I've tried the level again and this was working fine. I don't know if you'll be able to understand what happen... But i wanted to let you know in the case it's something easy to fix.

the second bug cannot break the level, but it can make it easier. It's possible to bounce as high as the rooftop on the creatures, and land on the roof top, allowing you to skip a part of the level. It happens just before the 3 creatures for me.

Except for these bugs, really good level, hard as hell, but you couldn't say you've not been warned about it

Ohh, and if you have some time, can you check my LittleBigMagnet level ? thanks !

hmmm.. interesting. Someone mentioned something about dying everytime they go up the stairs. I'm wondering if one of the pistons at this area is reversed by mistake making it impossible to proceed. Wierd because I've never had the issue myself. I'll take a look at it.

As for the exploit at the top, yeah i Noticed this too, I'm going to fix that now. Thanks for the helpful input Slurm

Edit:

Well.. I'm looking at the area now, and all the gas is acting as it should, only moving into position once the player passes infront of a checkpoint. Could you explain exactly where you encountered this problem? There's only 3 areas in the vertical section that can have gas and they all are behaving the same way. I'm not sure why players are having this issue when I'm not.

I'll post a feedback today.
What about re-making other side-scrolling Crash levels? I mean, "Native Fortress", "Sunset Vista", "Catle Machinery"..

Nah i don't think i'll need the screenshot. I checked every section with gas to ensure it doesn't happen anywhere. It's all fixed and ready to go. Enjoy 2011-05-31 23:27:00

Can't believe it. But me and 3 other players actually completed this level in 4 player mode XD. It took us about half an hour.. but we DID IT. The ending is just brutal. And here's the best part.. we got to the scoreboard and dropped our controllers......

4 other players had already beaten our high score... *smacks face*

that was really good but crazily difficult! i never got to the end but then i was playing on my own just in case it would be even harder for more than 1 player. i do remember that level in CB and it took me forever to pass it, amazingly you have remade it not just visually and mechanically but in difficulty too. i'll never ace it but it was fun trying, good job = )2011-06-13 01:34:00

Glad you enjoyed it. I didn't expect people to enjoy that level as much XD Was originally just me screwing around trying to replicate the level that was driving me crazy in the old Crash Bandicoot game when i was a kid. Glad to see people enjoy frustration recreated for them XD2011-06-13 06:44:00

It was ridiculously hard for my slippery sackboy feet? I never new wood was so dang slippery!!! It was hard, but that not a bad thing. It's what made me determined to finish no matter what. Thank goodness you didn't have a death counter in this level or I would have looked pathetic. Anyone who aces this deserves a cash reward!

I liked how you started the level off without unlimited lives, thus weeding out a large number of players who give up too easily. The ending was funny...I thought I was home free, only to fall down that hole! I never played crash much, so I can't vouch for the lvl recreation here, but still a nice job consuming part of my evening!

If you get a chance, check out my Afro Troll level in my sig and let me know your thoughts.
