Problem with emitted projectiles
Archive: 4 posts
Alright, so I'm finding myself in a bit of a predicament. For the level I'm making, I'm trying to give the Sackbot I'm controlling an aiming arrow, and fire off emitted projectiles in the direction it's pointed. Simple, right? I've already got the arrow made--holographic material, follower attached and joystick rotator hooked up to a microchip, etc. My problem is that when I have him fire off the projectile, it automatically gets destroyed when it hits a thin layer, be it directly in front or directly behind it. That means my entire level would be restricted to two layers of thick, and I'd lose thin layers. Not good at all. Now, my projectile is a piece of holo material (0% brightness), one layer thick (NO thin layers), decoration attached on the end (Crystal 2, I believe), with a microchip. The microchip has a smoke emitter, tag (for making contact with enemies), two sound effects (on creation and destruction), and an impact sensor wired to a destroyer. I've tried a few things, like changing the aiming system: instead of a thin layer with the follower centered on the back end, to a single thick layer with the arrow glued behind it. It looks a lot cleaner, but when I did that, I could only fire off projectiles in the front-most layer! I'd really be grateful if anyone can come up with a solution for this. The solution is probably simple enough, but I'm not particularly great with logic at the moment. Sorry if my explanation isn't particularly clear--I wish I could take a picture of it and show it. | 2011-05-29 02:53:00 Author: Mysteltain Posts: 59 |

Sorry if my explanation isn't particularly clear--I wish I could take a picture of it and show it. Why can't you? It's as simple as taking a picture in game and either uploading it or copying it to as USB stick. If I saw it I might be able to troubleshoot. | 2011-05-29 04:17:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |
On the impact sensor, set the "Include touching" to no. That might fix it. | 2011-05-29 04:40:00 Author: Brannayen Posts: 438 |
I can't believe I forgot to check that! I knew it was something simple. Now I feel like an idiot, heh. Ah well--thanks a ton, man! | 2011-05-29 12:32:00 Author: Mysteltain Posts: 59 |
