New Craftworld (potential series)

Archive: 18 posts

After the endless hours of create mode, dozens of levels created and pulled (both on E_R and Drakarael), I am finally looking at making a LBP story.

Plot

With The Negativitron vanquished, peace returned to Craftworld. With no more wars to fight, Sackboy(girl) began settling into a normal life. But war had changed our hero, and no longer could he/she live a life of mundane normalcy. The war had awoken paranoia within Sackboy(girl) and he/she fretted that another would soon plunge Craftworld into darkness once more.

As our unisex hero's paranoia build, he/she decided it was time to get back into shape. With this goal, Sackthing set out on a new journey across Craftworld.

Where will this journey take Sackboy? The only way to find out is to play!

Primarily for "Demo" purposes, a level entitled "New Craftworld (Demo)" has been published. If enough interest is shown in this level, I will begin production of the series. This level is Demo Quality and should be viewed as such (very few stickers, not a high level of interactivity)

"Creator Curators"

- The Crazy Mountain Man: This balding, long bearded old man should have been locked away in eve's asylum long ago, but living in the mountains, nearly no one has found out just how insane he is. This old man will offer dangerous training areas in Sackthing's first steps back to fighting shape.

-Techus Electro:Born in the slums of Avalonia , Techus aspired to be as good as their almighty leader Avalon. A designer of weapons and security systems, Techus will re-introduce sackthing to the use of weapons and how to fight them

-The Overseer: After accidentally blasting himself into space, sackboy encounters the disembodied voice of the overseer. On a space station over looking Craftworld, Sackboy will fight to keep the whole place from crashing back down to the surface. But what dark secrets does this place hold?

More to be added if series sees success and these levels leave room for it.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to get the first level built, but I'm not 100% sure how to improve on the mountain man's theme. I'm looking at dangerous looking elevators, better implemented versions of the rope swinging, More usage of the Grap's Climbing ability and of course, more dynamic scenes (The bridge in the cave is an example). Of course, I 'll have to work a little more on the secrets and Points bounce pads (seems if you hit them wrong they don't give you your points 0.0).2011-05-29 21:52:00

Moderate progress so far, a little disheartened by the lack of plays on the demo, may retitle and retag it later.2011-05-30 04:20:00

Uh... how about underground bits, with little light, and cave ins where you have to swim out before drowning?

Eh, I did say I was going to play it, but since lbp.me has been down, I haven't been able to add it to my quee and I keep forgetting to look it up manually.2011-05-30 20:08:00

Good idea, Might be implementable more in the second section of Mountain man. Depends on if I keep my current course or not.

lol. its all good man, I'm sure you'll get around to it eventually. It will be pulled when the full first level is finished and fully published.

Alright.. Due to a lack of any beta testers, "New Carftworld 1: The Fringe of Insanity" is now up in a Beta format. Please report any glitches, issues (Including Multi-system MP overheat issues if present) or notable improvements to me, and I will see what I can do. Therm is getting tight though.. so no guarantees.

I shall keep that in mind. I'm having a little debate with myself though, as to whether or not I should pull that, rework "Fringe of Insanity" as the final set of levels instead of the first. So, I put it to you, the people pf the forum;

Should New Craftworld begin at the Fringe of Insanity and journey to other "Bad" parts of Craftworld? or should the story (and in finalized versions there will be one) be of Sackthing's journey to the fringe of insanity to get back his mind?

Well, the second idea sounds better to me, as if sackthing can get his mind back at the start, then what's the use of going everywhere else, unless everyone else has lost their mind too?

Also, I have worked out how to beat those ropes which you grab onto. You need to swing to gain momentum before letting go and trying to grab on again. How about trying the climbing ropes with the grappling hook? then you can go at steeper angles and whatnot?
