Nature's Solitude

Hey guys I just published my 1st lbp2 level titled Nature's solitude. As the name implies it is more of a scenic/ relaxing level with some fun elements of gameplay. Check it out when you get a chance. i'll be happy to provide feedback on your level in return. http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd473/juscallmej/ba7a8dcbc3d9635f8a4847a9482242330d3a978e.jpg http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd473/juscallmej/a3e908fade081a9be3ceb66e96a2fa3f5c031579.jpg http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd473/juscallmej/a6b235b9bdb600fa737c246781bf042cf77d273c.jpg lbp.me url is http://lbp.me/v/0kn3j2 http://lbp.me/v/0kn3j2 | 2011-05-28 02:21:00 Author: juscallmeJ Posts: 77 |
Thanks for your feedback on my level! I really enjoyed playing yours. Im big on scenery and your level had lots of it =] I like how the environments kept changing, my favorite was towards the end in the desert. The gameplay and atmosphere was simple and relaxing, a lovely journey. Great 1st level to put out looking forward to more from you <3 | 2011-06-04 20:27:00 Author: K3NDRAKRAY Posts: 61 |

Hi - just played your level and thought it was interesting.. nice mix of level design moving into the next section nicely... Visually, my favourite section was the windmill with the tatty sails... superb and reminded me slightly of ICO . I didn't finish the level as got stuck on the wire with the flames blowing underneath.. tried all sorts to get past that section, but sadly gave up. You have a nice number of plays so far, so you must be pleased. overall thought it was a decent level. cheers. | 2011-06-08 17:46:00 Author: Flatbadger Posts: 68 |
Very fun. Nice and lengthy but at the same time simplistic and relaxing. I'm usually a fan of sticking with one theme throughout the level but you made your theme having a variety of themes 0_o. This made Nick's head explode. Good level, Yayed | 2011-06-10 03:11:00 Author: Nick930930 Posts: 878 |
-This was a very thereputic level, the simple gameplay mechanics were mildly challenging and didn't take anything away from the overall experience. -At first the visuals were nothing to gawk at but from the bug-ride onwards the atmosphere and visuals were simply amazing and really made the overall experience. There isn't really much else to say,a supremely balanced and beautiful level. For F4F could you feedback on my level, City of Disillusion Part 1? | 2011-06-10 13:25:00 Author: The Gentleman Posts: 360 |
Nice first LBP2 level! It's almost as if you can see you as a creator getting more attuned to the new create content as the player progresses through the level. The level gets better and better as you progress through it. The upper sections which contain the widmill really out do the earlier sections. It has nice accomplished platforming sections and a relaxing rhythm to the gameplay. The first sections seem very flat, straight edged and artifical which really detracts from the nature theme, shiny wood and cobblestones not the material choice that springs to mind when creating a nature themed vista with so many other choices available to enrich the visual interface and atmosphere. keep working on saturating the decoration and try a few material changes. Overall a nice level worth a play. F4F: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=57002-Ico-amp-the-Colossus | 2011-06-10 19:43:00 Author: EnochRoot Posts: 533 |
Yes, I definitely agree that it got even better towards the end. My favorite parts were the silhouetted regions that were desert-like. It looked lovely. And the lighting in some of those sections was awesome. Great scenery, simple yet fun platforming, and a very relaxing level Nice job for sure! Hey there J, I'm sorry it took me so long to give feedback to you on this level. I've already left a review, but I'll reiterate my points here: I loved how you designed the level, both visually and gameplay-wise, to start out simple and then progressively become a bit more varied and detailed the further you went. You've done a great job on setting the right mood for each type of environment by using a combination of the music and lighting, and even the types of materials you used added to the atmosphere. In a way, your level has touched me because of how it reminded me of going through life before ending in death. I can't tell if that was intentional, but it enhanced my experience with this level. Awesome job! | 2011-06-11 21:32:00 Author: Qrii_Nakari Posts: 204 |
hey, thanks guys for all the great feedback. Glad you enjoyed it. hey qrii i didn't intend for the sequence to reflect life/death but looking back at it i can definitely see what you mean. In the latter part i wanted to more portray the grandness of nature which can make one feel isolated/alone. its great to see someone drawing their own inferences though. thanks again.. Excellent level, these are the kinds of levels I love - easy but fun. The variation in visuals was massive yet they all felt connected, I especially liked the decorations like your red glowing plants for example. The silhouette sections were perhaps the parts most pleasing to the eye (inspired by Donkey Kong Country Returns by any chance?). There were a couple of small niggles at the beginning, nothing much. The large waterfall didn't have any accompanying sound effect, which would probably add a lot to the atmosphere if it did. And slightly after with the two rock sections moving together I initially went behind the bottom one rather than going through the middle. See I thought there may have been a prize hiding behind there (then I tested the one above too) but instead just got squashed. I'd suggest blocking the gaps off so that players can't actually get behind. And speaking of prize bubbles... there weren't any! Or at least none I could find, but this level is ideal as there are so many nooks and crannies you could hide them. I kept finding little crevices and was expecting a prize bubble but never got any. Ignore this if there are some prize bubbles... and I've just missed them entirely (maybe they're TOO hidden if that's the case?) But like I said, minor niggles, didn't detract from the level at all, nicely done. | 2011-06-19 15:07:00 Author: Xaif Posts: 365 |
Nice level. Filled with some visual ideas, but there are some that could use more work. VISUALS: At the beginning of the level, it looks like you played around with the circle material way too much. You need to smooth the materials even more. Other than that, you did a great job on some great silhouette visuals and good use of lighting. SOUND: Nice music choices for this level. There's some good sound effect that fits in a nature level as well. GAMEPLAY: The platforming of this level is simple but fun. It has some good use of grappling hook and real water. OVERALL: This level has pretty good visuals, but could use more polishing. The platforming is solid, though. A yay. So I went to play this level for the F4F on my level Silence in the Library (http://lbp.me/v/1p8d0j), and what do you know, I had already played it! But, my memory is terrible... so I played again. This is a nice looking platformer (which I'm sure I enjoyed the first time). As advertised it is a nice, low-key, relaxing, and pretty level. I can also vouch for its multiplayer-ability - it's very doable. I can see what others are saying about the progression of the level, it certainly does improve as you go. My one irritation with it was with the camera when you are riding in the little creature vehicles you have, it sort of got away from me towards the top. That and I was a little jolted (hah!) by the electric/gas glass river in the second half - it seemed cartoony compared to its surroundings and detracted (for me) from the atmoshpere. Thanks for taking the time to make a great-looking and non-breaking level! I look forward to seeing what feedback you can offer me. Edit: Oh! And also I don't know if feedback is what led you to put in a note about grabbing the rope, but I think people won't need the hint. | 2011-06-19 22:37:00 Author: silmedriel Posts: 64 |
Positives: +Platforming was pretty simple +Liked the theme of theme of it +Obstacles were okay +Visuals looked good +Slide was good way to end it Negatives: -When you grab across the rope the first fire you can go right through it without being harmed so you might wanna raise it up just a little more. -Some of the materials need a little smoothing (minor problem) Rated: | 2011-06-20 00:55:00 Author: Sabre_ Posts: 653 |
hey thanks for all the constructive feed back , i did take a look at a few of the things you mentioned. I'll try out your respective levels and leave feedback in your threads. | 2011-06-20 16:26:00 Author: juscallmeJ Posts: 77 |
Hi thanks for the feedback, could you tell me exactly where u got stuck in the level so i can try and fix the issue.. ok for you feedback The level looks great. Decor is amazing and the enviorment is well done. I especially liked the things you used multiple materials to create like the ledges and rocks. Music was a good choice. The grapple hook part was very fun. The bridge rising was great, i loved that. The part with the controlinator bug was fantastic and worked smoothly. The twilight lighting makes a great change of pace. The mountain with light shining through with the waterfall looks so great, and the fallin leaves these little things are what makes a level stand out to me. That last part with the fast slopes was a great finale to an amazing level. I have nothing negative to say | 2011-06-21 14:38:00 Author: PurpleIris88 Posts: 108 |
hey thanks purple iris. appreciate the positive feedback a lot. this level did take me a while to complete, trying to get inspired for each of the sections. I'll probably get started on another soon. | 2011-06-24 23:45:00 Author: juscallmeJ Posts: 77 |
The level starts not so good but it gets better as long you play ^^ Loved the bug-controlinator and all the next parts: the dark windmills, the desolated forests and also the final slide. Very relaxing in general. Please leave me feedback at my level https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=56955-Math-Millionaire-Quiz Regards. | 2011-06-25 11:24:00 Author: ara_que Posts: 63 |
Hello, I played this level a few days ago and enjoyed it. I see that the windmills part seems to be one of the favorite part in the level, and I agree with it. This sequence is beautiful, relaxing, really enjoyable. The difficulty was ok, some part (the rope with fire under it) were difficult but nothing that prevent me from finishing the level. A good relaxing platformer, nice and fun ! | 2011-06-27 10:21:00 Author: Slurm Posts: 262 |
I really enjoyed this level. Atmospheric, relaxing and fun. Great design, I really liked the bit with the controlinator bugs. The only part I had a problem with was getting onto the rafts, but got it after a few attempts. Overall, a fun platformer with sweet aesthetics and fun game play. | 2011-06-27 11:11:00 Author: fluxlasers Posts: 182 |

Had this level queued for a while, only just go around to playing it. I'll echo what others said. A nice simple relaxing platformer, that was varied enough to keep it from getting boring? This may be a daft question, but what is that 2nd song? It's not a default song, is it? Because I'm sure I've heard it before, but it's not in my library. If you could play my "You Sunk My Sackleships" level with an online friend, and leave feedback in my thread, I'd be very thankful. The links are in my sig. | 2011-07-10 13:06:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
thx for the constructive feedback, to ali the 2nd song is a default song non tweakable called vision one instrumental. i'll try to check out your multi player level but i dont do multiplayer too often on lbp. | 2011-07-17 00:21:00 Author: juscallmeJ Posts: 77 |
First section - Some nice visual touches here. Relaxing pace, gentle difficulty and reasonably fun to play, but little innovation here and didn't really engage the brain or the fingers much. Middle section - Things start to get more interesting here. I liked the look and the mechanics of the caterpillar, but the camera was a little too close. I felt like I was wandering blindly into some of the obstacles with a restricted view that made it hard to mentally map the route ahead. Last section - This is where the level really shines. Loved the dusky atmosphere and the subtle visual details such as the wispy clouds, the birds in the sky and the falling leaves. The windmill and the rafts on the river looked really nice too. The rope over the firepit gave me no trouble unlike some other players. The final downhill slide towards the scoreboard wasn't particularly challenging, but still fun. All in all, a nice level. The relaxing kind rather than the manic, adrenaline pumping kind. Never frustrating to play, never broken...but perhaps a little more innovation in the gameplay mechanics would have helped it stand out more from the crowd. | 2011-07-18 14:34:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |

Sorry for the delayed response. I noticed you hadn't played my level yet, no worries if you don't play multiplayer, you don't need to leave feedback for that level. I'm currently working on a new level which will be 1 or 2 player (maybe more if I find a good way to implement it).... when I release that would I be alright to ask you for feedback on it? And yeah, I have that song now, I might use it for my level. | 2011-08-04 11:44:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
