I was just wondering what number of plays actually counted ? Does it only count unique plays, so once I've played a level, it won't increment if I go back and play again ? Also does playing but not completing the level successfully does that count ? Either by quitting, or by dying, or is it different for the two ? Just thought I've not seen anyone clearly definite what number of plays means, and in the long run it can make a big difference. Following on from that I've notice a lot of people mentioning the ratio of hearts to plays. Depending on the way plays is calculated, it may or may not be a good indication. Edit : Also what if your playing with 4 people in your pod, and you play the level, is that 4 plays ? Or only 4, if the players hadn't played it before ?

I'm also curious to know. I know that playing the same level won't increment the count but that's about it.

I've actually noticed that the plays go up each time you play a level (even if you restart, it counts as another play). However, you playing your own levels will not alter the play count (I believe this is also the case even with multiple people; as long as you're playing, the play won't count). At least that's what I remember it doing, I'm not home, so i can't check.

Just tested this and gameguy is correct- the play count goes up every time the level is played and does not require making it to the end level gate for the play to count. Play count always increases by 1 no matter how many people are in your party. The ironic part is if you really like someone's level and play it multiple times, you will be lowering their hearted to played ratio- that's a shame.

In other words, if you play a level multiple times, your earlier rating is deleted in favor of the most recent rating. Try it out on a level that hasn't been rated yet.

A level might have been modified and republished. The latest version could be better or worse than the previous version you played. Having only one rating per player also means that you don't have people stacking the ratings as well, either good or bad. It would be nice though to have a stat which seperated the number of plays from the number of psn accounts that have played though.
