Need Help: One life race with points reset to zero.

I am trying to make a system in my level where if you die you lose any potential points from that race, getting zero points for that round. I have been able to make the player spawn at the end, past the finish gate (spawn at the level link) but the timer and the points continue until I run backwards through the finish gate. Also, I am trying to do this on a level that has a level link and no scoreboard. I am sure it is something simple, but my brain is convinced it is not as I have been searching for a solution for a few days. My first thought would be to either have the player spawn just in front of the finish line and force him through (like a trap box in which you spawn that flies through the finish line, then disappears) or make a duplicate finish line through which the player falls through after spawn, then disappears. Ok the negative score giver works like a charm. I added a checkpoint system where the player falls through a race finish and then a negative score giver. While doing this I have encountered a bigger problem. There is a bug in versus levels that spawns you out of the level link instead of the checkpoint. I have searched for a solution for awhile now. I read somewhere that it is possible, with logic, to force a player to come out of a certain checkpoint when they die. Yet, there is no explanation that I can find to show how this may be done. Yeah I tried using switches and selectors to turn the gates on and off using a player sensor so that when you passed it the appropriate checkpoints opened and closed. This did not work either. The only way I can make this set-up work, as for the moment, is by replacing the level link with the scoreboard, as it has its' own level link. This did fix the problem, by replacing the level link with the scoreboard (there is a level link built in) the player now spawns properly out of the checkpoint rather than out of the level link. | 2011-05-27 01:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
