How do you trigger sound effects in a movie using a sequencer?

Archive: 3 posts

I have tried using a toggle but this doesn't work unless the sound effects have to be right next to where the camera is (just thought of this right now). Are there any other methods of triggering a sound effect in a sequencer.
Thanks for your time.

I trigger them by placing them directly onto the sequencer. You can have movie cameras and sound effects all on one sequencer but you'd have to test it out to see where best to place your sounds. Also in my example pic which I used for another thread/topic I had a player sensor trigger the movie cut scene as well as a seperate sequencer that had my sound effects which played in time with a hazard (hazards labeled 1-4 in my case).

Take a look it might help you.

Also what's really annoying is cameras and sounds that trigger everytime you go into the trigger area and plays again. To stop this I used a counter set to count to 1 so it only plays once no matter how many time you walk into the trigger area. No one likes seeing the same cut scene over again and allows you to roam around a bit.

In case the sequencer is in a whole different location than the player and the player is unable to hear the sounds on the sequencer, you may want to set the sound from local to global. Now, everyone - no matter where in the level - will hear it.2011-05-26 15:03:00
